    9:03 That's a bad thought process, instead, you should be looking at what the bishop move to e6 changed, it disallowed the knight on c3 to jump to d5 and apply even more pressure on your knight on f6

    Amazing watching new players' thought processes. Not sure if you were talking about your opponent's move here at around 2:17, but the resulting position for white was hugely advantageous because not only did they win a pawn, they also just opened your kingside, leaving the h and g files ready to be attacked without any pawns to block. I can say this now because I'm nearly 1750 in rapid, but learning these factors in your evaluation is really critical, and the biggest tip I could give you from this moment in the game would have been to leave the queen where it was on d8 and simply play h6 to prevent any pins. Often, especially below maybe 1400, overextension is very common, and simple but fast defensive play can leave your opponents positions very frail. I guess the easiest way to improve is to play cautiously and really look for mistakes by your opponent without trying to force anything that isn't concretely there. Bringing the queen out at all in such a closed position where it can easily be targeted by the opponent's knights is just losing you tempi you could be using to build a stronger position with your pawns and minor pieces

    Move 18, I would have probably recaptured with the queen. Once that kingside protection breaks down, its typically a thought battle. Good game.

      True, it would have prevented M1 at least.

      That hangs the queen

    • @Krullfath
      @Krullfath 2 місяці тому

      hangs the queen for no reason, it's already dead lost though, but he showed the line to prevent getting mated

      @@Krullfath But you aren’t getting mated. The queen and bishop can’t mate from that position within the next 10 moves, hanging your queen is going to make it even worse.
