This is such a lovely festive video, the house sitting must be a God send in the winter months. Service stations nd some garages have started charging too over here it sucks when you are stuck for a park up, it seems crazy this winter in the Park4Nite coastal spots here too so I can only imagine what England has been like. 😢

You all always make me chuckle and encourage my curiosity for other cultures. Love your videos! For the past 6 years, my Christmases have been with me and my partner only due to the pandemic and then distance (most of my family was a several hour flight plus a several hour drive away from where my partner and I used to live... we now live even further but in a place which, while being further, is more communicable, so we can see family more despite the distance). Due to that, we have sort of foregone traditional 'Christmas foods' and just make our favorite special meals we love which we love but weren't able to make regularly (For context, we lived in a very rural area so would need to drive hours to get certain spices or vegetables, etc. if we wanted them... we did not live in a food insecure area, but it just did not have a lot of variety and not always the most fresh). We made kimchi jjigae, bibimmyeon, and barbeque plus sides last Christmas and this year, since we moved somewhere with more access, made okonomiyaki, bulgogi, French onion soup, and several side dishes. Rather random, but we enjoyed it.

Addressing some of the questions! Do we have After 8: Yes. Oh yes. And then we don’t. Because I ate them all. Do we peel all the sprouts: no. I just cut them in half and pan fry them with bacon. Fry croissant: oh yes. Usually French fried with syrup and whipped cream. Christmas crackers: I absolutely grew up with them. It’s not Christmas without them! Also: nice to see Mama Dom cooking up a storm in a “proper” kitchen. Go man, go!
Merry Christmas! So here in Canada, we have crackers and After Eights (but I’m allergic to mint). My Christmas was spent alone with my cats, I had frozen mini pizza bagels for dinner and a popsicle for dessert. I had an apple turnover for breakfast. But my roommate invited her daughter over for dinner tomorrow so we’re making turkey, gravy, cranberries, Yorkshire pudding, mashed potatoes, broccoli, carrots, buns, and I just finished baking salted caramel brownies and some chocolate chip butterscotch cookies.
I now want to try an apple turnover for breakfast! It sounds yummy. Your dinner planned for tomorrow sounds lovely and those brownies sound amazing, I think we'd eat them all if were there 😂

I love St. Ives, been there once when I was a kid, but I'm really scared of driving in the UK, so idk if I'll ever go again. ❣️💌❣️ This year, my wife and I took the funds for a big dinner and used it to buy a bunch of walnuts, oats, bird seeds, fruits, and some veggies. We ate Chinese food takeout while watching a massive group of forest animals feast on a beautiful spread. We do regularly feed them things they like that are good for them, but this was a royal style buffet and everyone shared nicely and were super excited. It was a great experience and I think it may be our new tradition.
Had a lowkey NYE this year. My partner has been having a bad sciatica flare-up, so we stayed in and drank some champagne during the midnight countdown. Before that, I was actually showing him your last few videos, and we were having a cozy night binging your content together. Thanks for all the excellent content in 2024, Emma & Dom, and cheers to a well-travelled & exciting 2025!

We had cinnamon rolls with orange flavored icing along with biscuits(bread like a scone, not cookies) for Christmas breakfast and I also woke up late and never ate breakfast until after 12pm. I have never heard of "After eight". We have mint flavored cookies called thin mints and also have these Andes Mints that are mint and chocolate put together. Its just me, my mom, dad and brother together in our house for the holidays. And we fix a ham for Christmas dinner and it is delicious!!!! Hope you both have a great new year and a great 2025 year too!!!
Can't believe you stayed in Uffculme. We were only there last Saturday visiting my mum for Christmas. We are a couple but visited my in laws in Weymouth for Christmas Day this year and next year we are my mum's for Christmas Day. Just had our own Christmas dinner today. Turkey crown with all the trimmings (3rd one in 7 days 😂). Hope everyone had a good Christmas and look forward to a good new year 🎉 🕛 🎆

Merry Christmas. I was laid off on 12/20 with no severance so Christmas felt a little different lol. but my husband and I spent the day with my family. Having little kids around makes it more fun for sure. We normally have cinnamon roles for breakfast. Then just eat vegetable platter and dips with chips for lunch and an early prime rib dinner. Christmas is definitely about the food for us. lol. Oh and we have After Eights in the states!

Hahaha, that was the Yorkshire pudding we put the gravy in, like little pancake batter puffs - that sounds like a great breakfast combo! Merry Christmas 🥰🥰
This year I had maple syrup and butter pancakes for Christmas breakfast - I hope Mr Watson approves. I have had a number of Christmas dinner disasters. One year I forgot to defrost the Turkey. That was the year we had 8 people coming for lunch! We had to pretend that we had become vegetarian! The turkey eventually defrosted enough to go in the oven Boxing Day evening. Another year we forgot to remove the plastic bag containing the giblets from inside the turkey. Only realized when we opened the oven door and the smell of burning plastic filled the room! Inedible. Then there was the year that I dropped the turkey prior to carving it. At the time I had 4 Rhodesian Ridgeback dogs who managed to wolf down almost the entire bird in under a minute! Luckily, I now live within easy staggering distance of a hotel that does a great buffet on Christmas Day. No stress, no cooking, no angry relatives, no washing up, bliss! Nice to see Mama Dom in a kitchen equal to her culinary talents! ♥👍

We've been doing Trusted Housesitters for this entire past year, ever since our cat passed away. It's been nice to still have all sorts of cute animals in our lives, while getting to stay in free accommodation. We just finished doing one in a really nice house in Dubai, with FIVE cats at once. It was chaos. 🫠 As far as After Eights go - Anja tells me they're quite popular in Germany. They exist in Canada as well (where I'm from), but Terry's Chocolate Oranges were a Christmas thing for me growing up. Didn't even know they were British until I went to the UK for the first time. 😂
