Hi Wizard, yeah it was too bloody noisy at NAMM 2020 and we didn't find a free kit. ;) Glad I finally came around to do a little drum video. It's always a bit more preparation since I need to setup the mics etc. On this recording I settled with two overhead mics and one mic on the kickdrum. It's old school micing, but does the job. More of a 70's progressive rock sound, than the trigger sound of todays metal. lol. ;) Glad you like the jam. It's all good over here. A bit annoyed that the Covid is prolonging for such a long time. Wish it would just go away so we can start travelling again. But here we are keeping distance to everyone. How's it in Calif? Made any new musical discoveries? Songs? Bought any new music gear? I have some new headphones coming in from OLLO AUDIO which I'm very excited about, S4x headphones. I also bought the Maschine +, but I've got mixed feelings about it. On one hand it's very cool to be able to access plugins standalone. But on the other hand I feel some of the included plugins are too demanding on the CPU which makes no sense. I understand they added Massive & FM8, since they are not so demanding plugins. But PRISM can be a real CPU hog. If you just flip samples on the Maschine+, and use effects sparingly, it's totally fine though. Good to see you around my friend. Hope to catch you in a stream soon! Cheers! 🌞
Today we look at the Aeroband PocketDrum. My name is Mattias Holmgren and I've been playing drums since around 1992. I used to play plenty of metal in the past, in bands like Naglfar, Embracing, Azure etc. Today we discover the PocketDrum sticks & sensors. PocketDrum is a portable drum kit solution for iOS. Learn how @AeroBand PocketDrum works! 🔥 I also had to take the opportunity to jam a little on my Pearl Master Drum Kit in the video. Enjoy! Can anyone help here, I have seen Aeroband, Aerodrum and Freedrum provides a same function with using different technologies, can anyone let me know which is best in terms of sound and long lasting?
IMO as an old drummer its not too accurate. But for basic beats its fine. If you start playing tol complicated or fast it neglects (does not register) hits. So its kinda toyish. 🥁😄 but fun and silent 😋🎉
I mainly play the electric guitar but I'm looking for a decent quiet and small electronic drum set that has MIDI capabilities and some level of sensitivity since I only use the drum VSTs. I don't care how it looks and I will be fine as long as it has some amount of rebound. It'd be great if it is under $200. And It'd be great if I can control the kick and the HI Hhat with my feet instead of my hands or fingers. Anyone have any recommendations? Thank you all in advance.
Keep dreaming because nothing is under $200. Try and find a used set of electronic drum pads that have midi output. These pocket drums are a novelty and not for serious performance.
@@DashGlitch that's awesome. Yeah production is easier and quicker these days with all the hitech software stuff. ;) I still kept the kit though and play it from time to time and use it on some recordings.
You're actually a drummer? I didn't glean that from watching previous videos (I obviously need to pay more attention haha), seen you play piano and keyboards many times. Interesting app, hopefully it'll generate interest in playing...Nice jam, nice kit ;) and Doris(If I heard the dog's name right?) is so cute!
Yes I am indeed a drummer, I used to play 3 hours 7 days a week back in the 90s! ;) I played on plenty of metal albums. But since starting my media production company and writing for games & film I diminished my playing since it takes too much time to rig the kit and record... rather than programming with samples. But it's oh so fun to play the drums again. It's a re-awakening. Yup, Doris is our dogs name. She's super cute and runs all over the place. Thanks for writing Dejasoul!
Oh, what funny little thing it is!) Thank you for showing it to us, Mattias, didn't even know of it. Probably nice one to play with, but, in my opinion, these things like Guitar Hero work the best, when you have a big company to play together, that's probably much of fun. Maybe it allows to put a whole ensemble together :) Did you enjoy playing it generally? Anyway, some interesting one)
Haha, yeah I had a fun little session with these sticks. But I just have to say I prefer the real thing obviously. Latency is very important to me. But it can be a nice addition if you want to input some midi while people are asleep in the house I guess. ;) Thanks for writing Alexey!
Hi, thanks so much . We have the international user's manual now, it was chinese because we want my friends to see it earlier🤣. We will try our best to make the PocketDrum work better, try to reduce the latency , add tom drum and so on.
Great on the international manual. But the video instructions was very straightforward for a new user. Glad I could help showcasing the AeroBand Pocketdrum. The sticks feel really nice, but the latency could be improved. Thanks for the feedback!
Yes hittig air feels very weird, especially if you played drums for many years. But it kinda works. Its fun and doesn't require a big drumkit / room / noise...that a real kit brings. But real drums is oh so fun to play. 🌞🎅🥳 Thanks Joe
Hi Joel, dunno about midi drumsticks. Sometimes I do use a Roland Vdrum kit I have with Hart Dynamics pads. But its vary rare nowdays when its so easy to just bash the Maschine. 🌞
hehe yeah dog rules. ;) yeah there are a lot of music / family game instruments around. And you can also hook this one up as a midi bluetooth controller for your Mac and use it with your DAW instrument plugins. ;)
Hey, I finally got to see you play drums. Cool jam at the end. I hope you’re doing well friend.

Save your money.

Haha glad to lift a smile with the dog Alex. 😜🌞
Can you play any song to practice or just the ones on the software?
You can play whatever you want with it, but they have specific tracks in their software.

how much this is it?
I think the Pocket Drum 2 is like $199.

Cool, didn't know you were a drummer! I'm having fun with these things
Hi Dash, oh yes, I did play a ton of drums back in the day. Mostly deathmetal / progressive metal. Love your content by the way! 😉🌞Merry X-mas!
@@MattiasHolmgren Me too! I played in Punk and Metal bands in my youth, but sold my kit to pursue production. Same to you!

Does it better than aerodrums ?
Dunno haven’t tried them yet.
Mr Holmgren, you ROCK🤟🥁

Thanks, glad u enjoy the drumming Amir! 😋🌞
Nice review I keep to the real drums The End jam session Beast!!

Thanks a lot for the review, I better off wait till the areoband is more accurate, thanks for showing the little doggie lol
Nice toy, but I will stay with real drums and as substitute V drums. Thanks for the video
Hi Maus, yeah nothing beats the real drumkit. PocketDrum is more of a family game like Guitar Hero, than the real drum experience. 🌞
WTF at 7:50 LOL A BALLDOG!
Balldog?
I can see electronic drums...at least you're hitting a surface....but just hitting the air....doesn't that feel messed up?

@@MattiasHolmgren yes true.. Acoustic drums is the fun thing to hit than anything ever produced
I've been wanting midi drumsticks for so long. No idea if that exists. This doesn't seem to be it :)

Freedrum works with DAWs
This is a gimmic that makes pro drummers sound like a noob. How come they sell this without dealing to fix the latency issue??
Haha, wireless and tightness don't go well hand-in-hand. Would love to try their latest product though and see how things have developed.
Those types seem to surface now more and more. I think Aerodrums came as close as possible to the real thing. Also: Dog!
hehe yeah dog rules. ;) yeah there are a lot of music / family game instruments around. And you can also hook this one up as a midi bluetooth controller for your Mac and use it with your DAW instrument plugins. ;)
RATATUMTUM!
Indeed Edward. ;)
I hear latency
Oh yeah 😂🥁💎
"right"
All…
pocketdrum sucks lol dont even try
7:47 ... Bluetooth and Latency will never be friends.
There will always be some latency when dealing with Bluetooth.
Yeah its inevitable
