I love your vids! Just sold my '91 Chaparral 1800 SL with the 3.0 MerCruiser. Bought her almost 2 months ago. In that time I detailed the interior and polished the gelcoat, rattle-canned the trailer, and couple other odd ball touches to make it as perfect as I would like for the budget. Made $1500 selling it the day I listed it. Taking a Sea Ray 200 Signature with the 5.7 MerCruiser out on the lake tomorrow. It's a '94 with a newer trailer. Looks even better than the Chaparral. It's a turquoise color which I'm on the fence about. My trucks burgandy and they offered that boat in turquoise, dark blue, and a burgandy that would match my truck, but the chances of finding one are slim. Besides that the boat is superb and has one owner. Was kept in dry storage during the winter. Around 400 hours. I live near a few lakes and don't fish. More into water spots and leisure so I love bowriders.
Boston Whalers are hard to pass up. They built the 25' hulls bomb proof and damned near unsinkable and dropped on several styles of decks. Years ago in South East Alaska I had a pilot house 25 with two 120's. We used that thing like a truck. She took everything we threw at her without complaint. Probably the best MV I have ever had.
Even old Boston Whalers are worth good money in Australia. Last year I was looking at an early 90's 21ft flats boat with a 150 Yammie..... Asking price was $34,000 and the trailer was trashed.
I'm very envious. In my country, you have to pay $ 1,000 for a deflated dinghy that’s in your video 15:42. Those bigger ships, in this condition, are over eight to ten thousand with us. :-)
Good luck with those old boats, glad to see someone's keeping them from the landfill. I refurbished one and lost money when you factored in the hours to restore it, I did get to enjoy it on the lakes though, factoring that back in and I came out ahead.
Really enjoying your channel. I'm pretty sure you're in Florida but can you tell me how I would find car and boat auctions elsewhere in the country like in NJ? Thanks for any help and keep up the good work.
Great videos and restorations! Do you sell your boats to the general public, or do you only sell to local customers? I live in Georgia but would like find a good used boat that I could trailer down to Florida for tarpon fishing! Thanks!
Boat Guy I was a car buyer and bought exclusively from auctions for about 5 years. There's different tactics at buying from a auction. Actually there's a lot of psychology involved in it. Look at who's bidding against you, make sure they see you. Sometimes get right up behind the other bidder and bid 😁 it makes them nervous. Sometimes hang back and don't let others bidders see you make a bid. The other bidders will think the auctioneer is "running up the bid" and they'll quit bidding Stay Aggressive 👌 Whatever the auctioneer is asking bid less.
We have that same 25 Pursuit right now. Well be putting the 300 from our Ocean Master on it this month and selling that. You said you have a lot of project boats right now? What all do you have going on? Maybe I could make a trip up there and give you guys a hand?
Currently we have a aquasport 222 cc, Striper 22' cuddy, 17' aquasport cc, and a sylvan bow rider. I also want to redo my personal 17' aquasport and repower it. All of them are project boats.
@@ThatBoatGuy Oh man! You ain't kidding lol You've got quite the line up there! Those 17's are nice, whenever you get a chance, if you want to, send me an email to: aaron@bornagainboating.com and let me know what exactly you need to do to them. I've got tons of stuff too, like bilge pumps, washdowns, livewell pumps, that kind of stuff. Might be able to help you out with some of that stuff if you need it. Then maybe we could work something out and we'll take a little trip up there and help tackle a couple of those so you can get rid of them!
Do you have a list of recommended auctions you'd check out in the Tampa area? On the other side of the bay myself and been looking to get our first boat. Instead of getting something new I'd personally like a project to learn the ins and outs. So far I've got Copart and Tampa Machinery Auction, any other recommendations?

i live in the netherlands and man, that mercedes is a piece of gold. if you had to sell taht here man you could ask so much for it. (ofc after some good work on the paint and interior). didn't even pass the 800$ damn.
It's hard to say without being there in person, but I was thinking in my head that the Tiara for anything less than $3,000 would be a good deal, and $2,000 for the Whaler. I'm not a boat restorer like you, so you have a much better idea about what it takes to get them running and looking nice, just giving you my outsider impression.
I know that feeling well. You know you can do the work, and make it into a nice boat. You have to get those non runners really cheap, unless you know exactly what's wrong with it. Just a lower unit could cost you most of your profit. I loved flipping boats, I've done about 40 boats, some really nice ones, and some shit ones I made nice. Some I found on the side of the road.

It's a Boston whaler. At that price It should of been priority on your projects! Clean it up service the motor and it sells itself. That inflatable was repairable especially in your state with multiple places that specialize in that. They fetch a pretty penny for that size and easy to flip. Pick it up for a 100 and make 1000 profit off it.
