Erase the question mark. It IS the best fast 50 today. Sigma has been listening to the users. f/1.2 AND small AND light AND ultrafast focusing AND 13 blades AND 1/3 cheaper that the GM without sacrificing ANYTHING?
I always find 50mm makes people look bad (bulbous, distorted, unnatural). In contrast, in modeling, glamor, runway, etc we often shoot a minimum of 85mm, and even 300mm, with 135mm being a phenomenal general purpose portrait and glamor lens. The compression factor is both flattering and standout on the page, with much better bg/fg separation and much lower distortion. 50mm, not so much.
Excellent video- thanks! Now I have a hard time choosing between this one and the Sigma 85mm f1.4 DG DN for portraits. (I also have the Sony GM 35mm f1.4, which is great for travelling.)
This 50mm is a great middle ground and you still get amazing bokeh with it's f/1.2 aperture. It's also a newly released lens with all the new features!
Nothing makes it special. 85 f1.4~2 is better for portraits if you need bokeh. But composition and light are more important. Half of your shots had very poor light.
This was on the A7IV and the lens is going to produce the same results on any camera. It's the camera that is going to make it look different. If you're changing cameras, especially between the A7iii and A7R5, photos in general are going to look different as the A7iii is much older with a much different sensor than the A7R5. I believe everything before the a7iv still had the very noticeable magenta/green tint.
Im convinced you didn't even watch the video... The title has a question mark, essentially raising the question "could this be the best portrait lens or is this the best portrait lens?" leaving the viewer to decide whether or not THEY think it's the best portrait lens, this is why I showed so many photos and examples. No where in the video did I say that this is the best portrait lens because that's a very bold statement. You'll see even at the beginning of the video I said "this might be for you" not "this is for you". I'm sorry but if you don't like my style of content, you're welcome to not watch!
Which photo is your favourite portrait?
all of them to be honest, and i'm very picky, wish you tested this lens IN APS-C MODE also
the model is visual poetry
All of them!
@strippedlist thank you!!
Now we just need the 85 1.2 from sigma
Absolutely

It is the best 50mm on the market right now!

This looks amazing!!!!!
Appreciate you Prince!
This lens looks like it's going to be a good rival for Sony's 50mm G Master Lens.
It already beats it in terms of size and weight which is great to see!

@@StefanoLombardoYT Mine is arriving today: I can't wait! My Sony GM 35mm f1.4 has always been my "go-to" lens; but now I'll use both; side by side.

Thank you so much! Truly appreciate it!
Amazing video.🔥Would it be possible to provide some raw files for us to test? Thanks!
The photos look amazing and sharpness is insane! I need this lens!
Thank you! I was blown away by the photos!
Can't imagine if Sigma have 85mm f/1.2 🫣
Cheers so much
Hopefully firmware update can fix barrel distortion and 50 is definitely now my favourites 😊❤

You're right! Composition and lighting is way more important
What camera do use here for the review.?
Its not the same result shot with A7III vs Shot with A7RV....

😂😂 best portrait lens ? How many F1.2 and 1.4 are there ? The moment you start to add these superlatives ,the credibility is gone mate 😂

Imagine taking every UA-cam video title literally 💀
We love his videos! He always does a great job at showing what a lens can do rather than talk about it!
