The fact that he was actually listening to Nirvana while chilling in the batcave and had to turn it down...
Making Batman emo is a character addition that should’ve happened years ago. I wanna see George Clooney Batman brooding to The Smiths.
@@ChampionGold no its something that shouldnt have happened, batman is a grown ass man not an angsty teen.
@@javierlopez9789 I’d rather honestly watch Batman in his early years than Batman being experienced.
@@tasmsinist3rsix664 this batman isn’t the other batmen. Those have had years of experience to gain further discipline, yet they still are emotionally stunted to a degree. I feel as if this version highlights this aspects, his lack of discipline and experience, as well as how of a mess batman is with his emotions. That’s my take at least.
I’m pretty sure he’s just pausing the video from the contact lenses and the music also stops at the same time so we hear the news
Man they really did make this version of batman a more realistic version. You know batman has notes and books with all the findings of his past missions and criminals. You just never saw him doing it but knew he kept logs. Here he writes every single detail that happens, and keeps everything organized. I like that they gave the batman a more human approach. All the past movies he was just a smart guy who knew everything, in here he is shown learning and making mistakes.
Writing in a journal was something he does in comics
@@burgerking8475 He's talking about the movies, obviously that would've been done in the comics
Round 105 I totally agree 💯👍🏻 I said that same thing after I finished watching it for the 3rd time lol..I like that Bruce kept books on everything
yea thats true. he was the emo younger batman. bale was the ego playboy post trauma batman
@@simranlikesthe6221 ok man I hate when people call him emo. The dude is what batman is supposed to be like in his younger years. Rage, pent up, has nothing going for his life. He doesn't sleep, so that's going to make him moody, he lost his parents which was all he cared about.
Never thought that Batman would one of those people who would listen to music while working.
Makes it more real which is awesome 🙌
Makes him more realistic and relatable. But this version of batman is not my personal favourite.
keeps him distracted and awake, forcing himself to remember everything
This is when I was introduced to Nirvana Something in the way.
Year two Batman.
I didn't realize on first viewing that Bruce is actually listening to Nirvana and lowers the volume to hear the TV.
Neither did I. It kind of reminds me of the scene in "The Suicide Squad" where Harley is humming "Just a Gigolo/Ain't Got Nobody" and then that song plays as she escapes and goes on a rampage. Both songs get you deep into the characters' heads and viewpoints, showing you how they're feeling in this moment.
Same
In the later scenes you can see an amp and a guitar in the living room, which suggests he might even play a lil bit.
Reeves did say his version of Bruce was a reclusive rock star
One of my favorite scenes, there’s something so interesting about Bruce watching his entire night over again & obsessively writing down every detail.
White people are so corny
Exactly
he was the worst bruce wayne ever
@@kellymulderino7156its year two…he hasn’t created his persona yet..this is how he actually is behind closed doors
@@kellymulderino7156 all of your opinions are irrelevant, this movie is a cinematic masterpiece and YOUR perspective is fundamentally wrong
seeing this for the first time was a hell of an experience. 10/10 movie
I think it would’ve been even more amazing if it ended after Falcone was caught and killed
@@ComedyBros5 Nah I think ending was very good , we saw him going from vigilante who destroys criminals to a hero who saves lives too .
@@ComedyBros5 You’re absolutely wrong.
@@ComedyBros5 yeah the film kinda slumped after that. Still overall it was great
@@notsaksham101 Right, but I believe there's a way that could've been done about 30min sooner in the film.
The way Batman stares at the kid for a moment, it's just chilling, it's like saying: I've been in your shoes before, if I could survive it, so can you.
It's also what starts his arc in the story. He's been fighting crime for two years to compensate for the loss of his parents and childhood... and now he's seeing it happen again in real time.
He’s clearly eyeing up his next Robin
thats not what hes saying lol. Hes realising he didnt change a damn thing since his own parents were killed.
Well the child was obviously terrified when an unknown man wearing a bat costume just started staring him deep in the eyes
Or more like saying “I feel sorry for all the pain you’re about to experience, it doesn’t get better…”
This scene always stuck with me because you never think of the fact that realistically batman would have to spend nearly every waking hour that he wasn't fighting crime, preparing to fight crime. But in every rendition of Bruce Wayne he's always seen bouncing around town like a rich playboy. If he's ever in the bat cave he's just sitting there usually, just staring at his computer like, "Hmm, yeah...". This is what it should really look like. Obsession, aggression, melancholy, sleep deprivation, all in the service of something that would require all of his time and give him virtually nothing in return. No praise, no glory, no satisfaction, just more wounds. It almost makes him seem kind of insane. Which is more in line with Batman's theme of just being one step above the crazies he chases around Gotham, which is also a major theme in this film. Honestly its pretty rad. People call him emo batman but I think he's more human Batman. Batman may not have powers but he still acts like a superhero most time, all noble and always saying the right thing. Here he seems unhinged and mentally ill, manically trying to overcome his trauma through pure violence and convincing himself its for a higher purpose. Even Alfred is like, "Yo wtf are doing down here all the time B? this is getting creepy..." I want more.
This comment 👌🏻 yeah it was interesting people not liking emo Bruce Wayne- he wasn’t supposed to be admirable here! Not yet, at least 😉 deeply disturbed man, as you say. I eagerly await the sequel and TV show.
This has actually come up in the comics several times, with explanations like meditation and microsleeping . And in the Dark Knight trilogy, Bruce ends up sleeping through meetings.
@Space_Ghost_Hunter, Great comment. I agree. 👍🏽
All great points. 💪🏾
It really does make him feel like a person you could reach out and touch. He has hobbies, interests, channels for his anger. And we know he’s a 90s kid, so Nirvana would have been formative to him
The absolute best approach of this movie was how little we see Bruce Wayne. It really goes to show his mental state and how careless he is with his public reputation. He’s so devoted to being The Batman he can’t even begin to act like a regular person anymore.
Its like seeing a graphic novel come to life
They took a lot of inspiration from the Batman Earth One series.
I like the concept of Batman having a journal
It’s never been done but makes sense for him

This movie was perfect, people tend to forget Batman is about a crime detective.
Amazing that he calls it the "Gotham Project".
Right. Its like this is just the first try but if it works hell expand beyond just gotham.

I just rewatched this movie for like the 5th time and just realized he was actually listening to Nirvana 😭😭😭
I love how they made everything relating to Bruce feel retro even though this film is in the modern era. His replay has buttons like an old tape deck (even though there's a PC running it all). Both the Batmobile and the car he arrives at for the funeral are also classic looking.
Never thought about that this way but it’s very true. True Batman imagery is either Gothic or dark and looking to the past. Superman’s aesthetic is bright and looks forward, towards a World of Tomorrow.
3:42 This tired, dirty and pale look is a perfect representation of the night vigilante lifestyle
Man... Nobody thought Pattinson could be such a great BATMAN 🔥
I kinda knew. If anyone watched his films after the Twilight Series, you’ll find Pattinson is such a phenomenal actor
@@aderose also in the Harry Potter 4th installment,he portrayed Cedric amazingly
I think people had a feeling. Dudes come a long way since twilight. Anyone who saw Good Time and The Lighthouse pretty much knew he’d pull it off
People were idiots as usual and became part of the hive mind. It's embarrassing that no one gave Heath Ledger a chance and were proven so wrong, and then they did it again and had to eat their words AGAIN.
It'll happen a third time. Some "bad actor" who's actually amazing will be a Batman character, every idiot will say online how bad they are without even knowing about them, etc.
I knew he was gonna be great, but I had no idea he would be PEAK.

Above Batman’s head when he’s removing his head it’s says Wayne Terminus. While Terminus it does mean the end of a railroad line, it also means the final point or the end or final point. Great symbolism. It’s little things like that which make me realize how talented these people truly are with making films
I absolutely love the high-tech contact lenses as Wayne Tech is serious with their stuff and it’s similar to how each cowl and mask of the Batfam members have cameras hidden in them to record the POVs of each member and help recall details of their missions and events. Thing was that Bruce didn’t say anything about it so obviously the rest of the Batfam kinda freaked out about not knowing that there were cameras in them the entire time.
0:34 id be scared if Vengeance stared at me like that for THAT long-
For everything you white people have done... you should be

He literally had tears in his eyes watching the kid
He can literally relate to the kid. Notice how after Gordon said “the kid found him” then Nirvana starts playing.
I just noticed that he was staring so hard at the kid because he was seeing himself
This movie is such a masterpiece it understands the concept of Bruce Wayne’s struggles and trauma, and i like how he hasn’t acquired his playboy persona and he’s just obsessed by stopping crime and corruption, and just doesn’t want to do much as a billionaire philanthropist so he doesn’t make a lot appearance in public as Bruce Wayne maybe in the near future we may see him learning how to balance and enjoy his life as billionaire philanthropist playboy and may start to get over his parents death.
Honestly I can’t wait to see where this future trilogy goes, it’s been a while since I’ve been excited for a movie.
Yeah I agree on it , It was early years as Batman.
This scene alone gave me chills, I love this take on Batman. It gives me Rorschach vibes, and I always wanted to see Batman in a role similar to the one Rorschach had in Watchmen, and this movie definitely delivered that for me, along with the cinematography surpassing my expectations.
There are many reasons this is a solid batman movie. The top reason has to be the cinematography. Every shot looks like a comic book panel in this scene. You see everything static with only one moving subject in most panels.
No way this isn't chatgpt☠️

GOD this movie is spectacular. I loved every second......it was 3 hours and yet when it ended I remember thinking, "No, wait, come back! I'm not ready for it to be over! I want more!" I am absolutely adding it to my Halloween movie roster this fall. So atmospheric and gothic and gloomy.
"It's not a phase Alfred!"
Bro, the fact that Bruce turned his radio off after hearing about the 20th anniversary of his parents murder. You can see in his face & eyes that it still haunts him 20 years later. I felt so sorry for the guy. They produced this movie SO F'N WELL & I can't wait to see how the next movies turn out.
2:02 this line got me so hard “but I have to try” the man knows the city has fallen so much it mite but beyond saving or deserving, but he has to try he wants to be live in the city and punishing the untouchable criminals.

The sound of the bats as he enters the cave at 2:18. 👌
2:02 love how the bike is in sync with the music
How much more noir can you get, than Batman literally giving detective-style soliloquies at the beginning and end of the movie.
The thing I loved most about this movie is that they nailed the investigation aspect of Batman. He's *the world's greatest detective,* Batman should be portrayed as a detective. And he is in this movie, pretty much all he does is high tech detective work and beating people up.
You all should have experienced this in theaters.
EDIT: As I did.
It was absolutely insane when the batmobile scene came up

Rorschach's journal... tonight... a good man died.
I thought it was “…tonight a comedian died”
I like how this Batman is more like a normal human and makes mistakes and gets his ass beat a lot
Literally this is the most realistic looking but comic based Batman movie ever. So good, cinematography is just brilliant!
Narrative like in the comics, year 2 and he is still in the process, like a new growing bat, not long wings, learning to fly, progress in his tech and vehicles, fight moves, gets hit and has a heart, not bitching out and holding back, improving his detective skills, i mean how can it be bad? No rushing no stupid hollywood bs. I think if its a trilogy, in the third we will see an actual Bruce wayne and badass batman
the way he looks at the kid implying he was remembering his own experience with his parents shows how much Matt reeves understands the character.
Feels like we need to see more but the look of the Batcave was awesome.

I remember when there were rumors about Batman narrating in this movie and I am so goddamn happy they went with this approach. Its genius, creative and really applies itself to the grunge noir and dark character study that has The Batman standing out amonst the other Batman films. Everyday I'm so grateful we got a movie like this. Pure Chinatown/Se7en/Taxi Driver vibes.
I do love that this was not an origin story in the sense that we don’t need to see his parents killed and him training to be Batman, love that he is already doing it
I'm huge fan of Robert Pattinson as Batman he was amazing
The dark night is my favorite Batman movie and movie period. I love bales performance and think he is the best Batman, however THE BATMAN and Robert Pattinson come in a very close second place. This movie is fantastic! Matt Reeves delivered a masterpiece of a film.
I find it interesting that few people praise Pattinson's work for this Batman. It is extremely common for villains to be the center of attention, but this time, for the first time, the protagonist is the one who shines the most. Pattinson's performance in this film, for me, is more remarkable than Ledger himself, as the Joker. Today, without any fear, I can say that he is the actor that I like the most and that encourages me the most in future projects. As a Batman fan, I am also confident about the Matt Reeves saga, as it is a universe that is in the best hands and with complete autonomy from its creator.
For many, this is already the best Batman and for others not yet or without any chance of it, but I am convinced that, in the future, it will be more remarkable than Bale himself and Nolan's trilogy.
It's honestly my favorite Batman. Actually seems like a human pushing himself to the absolute limits of his capabilities to try to take on an impossible task by himself. Bruce usually is just like, "Yeah I'm just a regular guy with no super powers whatsoever, but I can knock out Intergalactic conquerors, outsmart time lords, and keep up with the Justice League all while running my company and appearing regularly at public events. But that's just cuz I got gadgets and I only sleep 3 hours a night!" Always seemed just a little bit ridiculous to me. But this version, this is some real depth that I hope they expand on. The guy makes Bruce almost seem like a kook I love it.
On top of his depth and believability, I also love how the movie alternates between his perspective and how he's perceived. He has this aura of melancholy and hurt that makes him fascinating, a little otherwordly in some scenes. It's like, yeah, I believe that this man is Batman. I believe that he's obsessive enough to dress up in a batsuit and chase down criminals, that this whole thing is him trying to make sense of a highly traumatic event and struggling with finding a place in the world when he's not hiding behind a mask.
But I also believe that others would remember him, be fascinated by him. Want to be noticed by him, and eventually fear him, too. While his broken psyche is obvious when you see him "up close", in the scenes where the camera pulls back and the movie adopts other characters' points of view, he turns into something far more ethereal.
It all makes sense. This is the first movie Bruce Wayne that actually completely makes sense in my eyes.
@@MadTahaney Well said! I completely agree. He even indirectly inspires the Riddler by not even knowing how others were really perceiving him
Such a fucking master piece, I’m unbelievably hyped for part 2 and the penguin

Damn. My father died when I was very young, a little younger than the child in the film. that look from Pattinson crossed my heart. I loved Keaton's Batman, Bale's, but with this scene, Pattinson won me over. he's my Batman and I hope he continues like this in the saga

Love these monologue's. They make me cry. The meaning behind it thr passion. Was looking just for this.
Please, no jokes when I say, tell me that I'm not the only one who'd love more Nirvana in The Batman 2 and/or 3
I wonder how this Bruce Wayne experienced his "Why bats?" moment. Maybe he wallowed in sadness and apathy in the heights of that tower following his parents' murder, obsessing over the details, forcing himself, even as a child, to relive that night. Maybe instead of rushing off in a flurry of emotion, he just quietly saunters into the elevator and takes it all the way down, unaware of what's actually at the bottom. Maybe he finds a means to explore his trauma and rage in that terminus, a place to scream where no one can hear him, a place to break things when words fail, or even just a dark expanse where he can obsess over details without interruption. And maybe, as that terminus became his sanctum of escape, he documented the behavior of the bats, how they roosted in silence away from the daylight and took off into the night on a relentless hunt. Or maybe he took literal inspiration from Dracula, a prestigious figure secluded to his castle, taking up the form of a bat in order to perpetuate an aura and embark on a mission.

Argument scene with Alfred
I remember when I was 13 years old I was beaten up by older kids 15-16 as they were older and more fully developed as I was a defenseless child. They attacked me and battered me so I got into weights, muay Thai and combatives for civilians to fight off that pain and trauma. I transitioned to the high school campus and one day when I was attacked in middle school the high school campus went to do a sports activity with the middle school campus. There was a kid there who seemed to be going through I used to be when I was 13 and I just looked at him the same way Batman looked at the Mayor's son seeing my young self in him who I was several years ago.

That monologue changed EVERYTHING, Mr. Reeves did a perfect investigation job through material sources (comics, graphic novels, etc), he saw what the other directors ignored: the first person dialogues. And that kind of narrative IS essential for an introspective and tormented character like Batman.
