- Parts have arrived to continue our 5.9L Magnum engine build for our Dodge Dakota. Our goal is to produce 500+ HP at the wheels and the key to success is altering the intake manifold, using an enhanced throttle body and using performance pistons, rods, bearings and tweaking the piston rings. Watch and see what you can use to achieve great results for your 5.9L Magnum project build at home.

We're planning to use this 5.9L magnum in a Dodge Dakota for snow wheeling. What would you use a 5.9L engine for?
I'm putting mine in a Durango 5.9. Desert 🏜 Wheeling
Can i get some part numbers or a way to contact one of you because im building my first 5.9 gas and i wanna talk to someone to get a general idea what would be best for the type of build i wanna do
@@Sbc18 Honestly, give Marty at Utawesome Performance a call. That's where we have been getting the vast majority of our info.
I want to know if this will get my towing capacity up to 10k lbs in my 2000 durango. (Yes I know I'd have to upgrade the brakes and suspension too)
Following up guys. Definitely interested in seeing you bring this one home. If you are at mercy of machine shop, lmk, I have a few here in Austin that can bore and deck a 360/408 and send it to you. Happy to make. Connection. Hate to see this series die. Lots of us magnum 360/408-9 guys are out here rooting for you. Appears you have everything for assembly but the block
Almost done full body off resto of my 96 Dakota. I would use my 5.9L for making everyone else on the road look bad. Thanks for the hot tip for the throttle body. Look nice on my Hughes Intake.
Right on!
Dude i’ve been wait for so long for this episode!!!!
A great motor for commercial Snow plowing!
how come ?
Enjoy your videos. They provide information clearly and easily understandable. Really appreciate the fact your video isnt stuffed full of current slang or foul language. I am in no way a prude. Retired from the US Army, a volunteer firefighter/paramedic and involved in construction trades most of my life, i know how to string along a long number of 4 letter words and terms. But there is a time and a place, a video a professional video isnt the place for it. Admittingly, i am an old fart, but having to ask my teen grandson what every third word in a video, is a waste of time and makes the person speaking look stupid.
One last compliment, thank you for not cramming loud "music" into your videos. Once again, i am an old fart, but crappy music is crappy music.
Keep up the good work,
mike
Great video fellas!
Sealed Power floating pin clips are way easier to install and remove. They have a return bend on the ends which is perfect for needle nose pliers.
Excited to see your build running fellas!
Enjoy your videos can't wait for the next update on this
Put it in my 00 durango awd lifted 33s
Hey its been awhile, waiting for the finish of this rebuild.
Merry Christmas.
Mike
I have an 89 Dakoto 318 la block 40 over 4.00 stroker magnum heads holley sniper injection super comp headers 42 re transmission 391 gears lots of fun next is drag radials I am retired so not a lot of money
Throw it in my 2000 Durango with 4.10 gears and launch on mo-fo's 😂
Should have kept the magnum engines 318/360 very good engines
Have yall mare a video of it running
Did you finish the build
Not yet...
Found it !!
I know they have been on back order, but Hughes engines makes an Airgap intake that avoided the nasty plenum and plate repairs you may inevitably have still running a two piece intake. Nothing against UTAWESOME or however you spell it
ummmmm there will be video updates of this build series right?
How much was spent on this build? Seems like thousands on parts alone!
9 months and no part 4
Machine shop jail. BOOOOO!!!
Wow that guy talking is really cool! I suggest he does a 15min dynamic warm-up, 15min TABATA Training, 15min static stretching, everyday after work simply to drink beer everyday.
How much you do if you build engine for other person ?
any update ?
In machine shop limbo still.
Part 4….wtf¿
What is the website for for intake manifold and throttle body
www.utawesomeperformance.com/index.html
I was going to unsubscribe but the video started playing and you said ft-lbs instead of the ubiquitous, tech school lb-feet that now insidiously has invaded the engine world due to well placed infomercials disguised as automotive shows (i.e. motor trend channel). I will stay subscribed until I start hearing lb-feet here.
What size of cam did you use
We had a custom Comp Cams grind. somewhere in the .550 lift and 230 duration. we kept a 114 LSA for ease of tuning.
Anything new
scat crank better
