- This is Day 1 of visiting one of the greatest and largest international orchid shows in the world. There are vendors from many parts of Asia. Also Brazil, Germany, Vietnam, Hawaii, South Africa and on. Two days of fun and exciting shopping and meet and greet. That orchid fair blew my mind😱💥🥰I would be up and down the isles holding orchids in both hands and getting confused about what to buy. Those delicate phalaeonpsis in the Taiwan booth had gorgeous orchids, and just about everything at that fair had my heart racing🥺😍💓🥵💓😵💓
I’m telling you one needs to be an octopus at these shows. There is just so much beauty everywhere you turn and look. Whiplash! 🤗

Oh how I wish someone would do some genetic engineering and produce orchids that can be grown in north Arkansas, zone 6. I'd be willing to break the bank for such beauty! Love your videos. Thank you.
They are doing more and more crosses that are stronger in harder environments. Like the Miltonia. They come up with some crosses we can keep in Miami. They are very sensitive to heat. The Miltonia moreliana is a species that can withstand heat better than most Mitonias. It’s native to Brazil. I hope they do some crosses with the moreliana to produce a more heat resistant hybrid. Zone 6 in Arkansas is pretty cold in the winter for an orchid. You would need a controlled environment for the winter.

The signal is horrible there. The vendors barely could do internet charges due to poor signal.

Oh my gosh. I have a whole written page of plants I want. If you see this in time, I would love it if you could showcase C R Orchids. They are from here, in W. Palm Beach. Recently, Rick (the R in CR) passed away quite suddenly. He is definitely missed in the Orchid community and Candace is carrying on the business. That is heartbreaking to hear. I bought 2 Oncidiinae hybrids of Kenneth Bivens from her on Thursday. She took her time looking for 2beautiful ones that had unopened blooms. Her son then came to ring me up and was so gracious and kind that on the way out of her booth I stopped to tell her what a wonderful gentleman he was. I had no idea her husband had just passed but am happy that I made her smile for a few seconds.

Apopka is always fun. I like Tamiami because it’s indoors under AC. But both are loaded with vendors.

Hi Nelson!! WOW this was amazing. Thank you. I plan on making a trip to a show next year…..would you recommend the Tamiami (sorry for misspelling) or the Redlands? I live in SWFL and plan on driving over for the weekend but not sure which is the better of the two. Any recommendation would be appreciated. Thank you.
Well they are both great. Tamiami is indoors in AC so you never get hot or wet from the rain. But Redlands for me is exciting because it’s outdoors. It all depends what you enjoy. The park is beautiful if you find time to walk it during the shows. I spend all my time with the vendors. lol! Perhaps try Tamiami first. And you did spell it correctly. 👍🏼

They will have an indoor show in November. It’s the Tamiami International Orchid Show. The Redland show won’t happen again until next year in Spring.
