- Thank you to Marc Riley on BBC Radio 6 Music for introducing me to Julia Jacklin. This was the encore on the last night of her UK tour at Scala on 2 March 2017. It is a cover of a song by The Strokes. You can hear their version on the 2001 album, Is This It. If you haven't already got it, then check out Julia's debut album, Don't Let The Kids Win.
I was there too. Great concert. She has such a lovely voice but is so modest about her talent. Very endearing. A wonderful night. And she is such a good writer, her words show maturity beyond her years.
I love this cover with all my heart
When covid is over, gonna make alot of money and go to concerts of my favorite singers.. weyes blood, lord huron, faye webster, and definitely julia jacklin, and many more!!..

Wow! That's awesome
Thanks for uploading!
Beautiful piece
I'm crying
Promises, they break before they're made
Sometimes, sometimes
Oh, my ex says I'm lacking in depth
I will do my best
You say you wanna stay by my side
Darling, your head's not right
I see, alone we stand, together we fall apart
Yeah, I think I'll be alright
i'm working so i don't have to try so hard
Julian didn’t write this “song”. He was just telling us how he felt and this is how it came out. 🤌🏼
Isn't that what song writing is
@@sagtoolesag Lol yeah it is 😂 besides the intentional rhyming. I was trying to come across as sarcastic, but it’s so hard without my actual tone behind it. In other words, I suck lol. I’m really drawn to his lyrics, though. Any writer/singer will tell you that songs are just poetry with instruments (sonnets, limericks and villanelles and for the Strokes, we also get an Ode. Ode to the Mets) and an incredible voice like some guy named Julian Casablancas.
@@adecadeofpoetry4831 Agree 100%. I saw a video of some guy listening all strokes albums for the first time and he kept making fun of the lyrics. I was like am I the only one who thinks the strokes genuinely have one of the best lyrics? Specially in the new abnormal.
