Pistol Pete is one of those players that just about every modern day guard uses some type of move he did first (if not first then first to do it exceptionally well) be it a dribble a unique pass whatever you want. A big innovator for guards in an Era where then big men were praised

The point is he was the first to do a variety of street ball flash passing! I watched him on TV at LSU in games were he had 12 assists each one a circus no look whatever! Only averaged 6 career in college and pros. The teams needed 35 or more points from Pete to have a chance. If he had another top scorer and focused on assists he would be a 10+

And remember these passes were taken from a limited selection; many on this list would never be there if we had access to more film. Have you ever seen anyone throw an "in front of their body pass" that goes to the player cutting on the opposite side? "When you talk about Showtime, you talk about creativity, and bringing a whole different concept to the game of basketball. Pete was the original. He opened the minds of a lot of players as to how the game should be played. What he could do with the basketball at full speed was incredible. He was the best ball handler I ever saw. Ever.
