Is there not one video of Segovia practicing? Learning a piece? screwing up 10 times before he gets it down? That would be an interesting thing to see. How he learns a piece. How he decides what fingerings to use, etc.

No, many others were better than him. Bream, or Yepes "for instance" as he would say. The old grumpy Segovia never ever has would reached the level of Bream or Yepes.
@@beerdeddi1 Dream on, Rene. Those you mentioned are very competent players, but their tone and musicality and imagination - especially in arrangements - are not like Segovia's. They could NOT turn the world's attention towards the guitar as a worthy instrument the same way Segovia did. Give credit where credit is due; they all borrowed from him, learned from him things they could never dare to imagine.
I agree with Rene. Segovia’s tone on many recordings is brittle. His interpretations were often just wrong. He played the piece the same whether it was Bach, Grieg, or Sor. I like much of what he played, but Bream was in a different league all around: better technique, much better tone, better imagination, and more musical. Segovia’s true talent was self promotion. People that claim he was the best ever simply haven’t heard anyone else. He’s not even close.
Hey man. Tried to reach you on NG but to no avail. I was hoping to use one of your songs in an upcoming animated comedy sketch I'm making. It's called A Burdensome Bossa Nova. Cheers! Chris
@@F0nkyNinja Thanks man! Much appreciated. To tell the truth I actually had the sketch ready and uploaded as a unlisted link. I was waiting for your approval to make it public. Here you go: ua-cam.com/video/CHZKmeBzCVE/v-deo.html
It is quite wonderful that this story remains and with video what an inspiration still today. Thanks to all
As good as it gets. This man has changed my entire taste in the guitar. Such incredible hands…

Well said, and May God bless you toooo
This is pure gold!
The universe just snapped together in spirit , soul and body. Its 1:25 am with guitar in hand while I listen I play .
This interviewer knows how to ask meaningful questions - meaningful questions about a very meaningful musician 🔥
@Benjamin Zayden is it an app?
as in " As I hear you play today I get the feeling that you are very involved with music."
@@rjlchristie Rather obvious hardly worth mentioning
Thank you for posting!!
The father of a million guitarists
Segovia quoted "Music is the most beautiful thing of all the arts and beautiful dream for human soul".
Awesome film. Never saw this one before. Fantastic.
Excellent interview
My guy hears colors, he truly was on a different level.

MASTER!!!
Had no idea Segovia was a pipe smoker. And yet he lived a very long life.
Well...he didn't inhale.
@@xpursangjock8724 e only exhaled all the smoke.
Good weed.
Taking the time to enjoy everything on palate of life....
The sound, he gets out of the guitar, is second to none....

OH! These impossible text machines! If it was possible - I would gladly take a job correcting the misunderstandings made by these machines.,
What is the name of the piece he plays at the very end? I love it 💜

Segovia was a Pisces...not surprising.
Today's interviewers could learn from this interview e.i. "shut up and let the guest speak".
Absolutely agree with you
Prove of God.
did he really said: 1923? I understand 1953, although in the subtitles is written 1923.

Apparently he was an asshole of the worst sort. But he could play.
The interviewer looks like Julian Bream
Yes he does. Where've you been? Haven't seen your post (in the Classical guitar world. ..) in a while. You doing okay?
