Warning: I have(had) an iPhone and signed up with Google Fi, but 2 days ago decided to switch carriers. I canceled Google Fi and tried to activate my new carrier. I couldn't because Google Fi said they couldn't give me a sim pin unlock code because I'd canceled. My iPhone is now a paperweight.
They just made their plans a little more appealing. That was the only reason why i never made the switch. 22GB it just isn't enough. Now with 50GB is more competitive and reasonable. Just pulled the trigger. Let's see how it goes!
She only mentioned T-Mobile. It actually uses T-Mobile and Verizon (us cellular). That was a main selling point is that it picks which ever tower has the best connection.
Something else to note is that the prices shown here for the unlimited plans are for single device, Simply Unlimited gets down to just $20/month/line with 4+ devices on the plan.
You should do review on KeepGo an amazing Sim for world travellers. Works in 120 countries. The data never expires. You load data once and you can use it forever till you exhaust the data. No monthly payments nothing. Super useful.
I had to cancel my FreeMii account. It was hacked and I couldn't get access to it. I joined Google Fi as my replacement cellular network. So far I'm not regretting my decision.
Hi, thank you so much for the info. I have a question about where I live. It's a commonwealth of the US called Saipan. Would it work here all the time?
I got a few questions here, who has the best 5g coverage in the USA & if joining Google Fi does the flex plan cap out after 5g of data use or does it keep going? Only reason I ask is because it doesn’t say anything about that on their website. Thanks
Goggle Fi also uses U S Cellular - UScellular is the fifth-largest wireless carrier in the United States, with 4,786,000 customers in 426 markets in 23 states
I’m traveling to Norway next month and looking for an esim solution while traveling, can you cancel these plans at any time? Only going to be there for 12 days but want to be able to have data and possible phone calls.
Moving to overseas was told tmobile will may or may not cancel my account if I don't come back within a certain time lol so I'm switching to googlefi and already guaranteed they won't for 18 months to where I'll have to re-verify and be good for another 18
Nice review. I’m considering this, but don’t want to give up on my iPhone. If you have an iPhone, I don’t think you can use 5G. Is that your understanding too? It’s not a deal breaker I suppose, but something to factor in.
Google Fi was a no for my family. To start, stay clear if you use an iPhone or any phone that is just “compatible” and not “made for” fi. No 5G, native visual voicemail, HDvoice, or wifi calling. With T-Mobile’s limited coverage in rural areas we would often find ourselves without coverage and without wifi calling it became a hassle trying to get ahold of one another. The biggest was the price. We had the flexible plan and were paying ~$120/month for 4 lines with limited usage. There are definitely far better deals Google Fi if you’re planning to stay in the US. US Mobile gives us 75GB of Verizon priority data for $100/month for 4 lines including taxes and fees. On top of that we get Netflix and Spotify Premium included. I wouldn’t recommend Google Fi unless you do a lot of traveling and use a phone that is “made for fi” (like a Pixel phone.) It’s just too expensive for the features you get.
Seems like it was your phones not Google Fi I've had 5G on my pixel 5, pixel 6pro , z fold 2 , s22ultra, and z fold 3 and always had wifi calling . And none of the those phones I've purchased were through fi they were brought cash and unlocked from best buy , Google , or ebay . Coverage I can't speak on because I'm in California so it was always good . But just a few days ago they launched lower rates and doubled the high speed data . I change phones alot every year so I stick with Fi because it takes 20 seconds to swap service and I like the free VPN and no contract . And I use the data only sims for my kids and they use Google voice so i get extra lines and pay the same price which was the original reason I went to Fi .
@@kdubspencer3390 I've been using Fi since the invite only days and it was the no contract model is what sold me. I'm not sure a lot of people know about Google Voice. Combined with a data-only sim, you can now get up to four additional lines for no extra cost. Five total lines for the price of one. I don't know what the limitations of Google Voice might be, but to my knowledge, there's no other carrier that provides such an option.
Had them 3 months had to leave Customer service was horrible I had to pretend to cancel my service to get my account number and pin Message support was left unread for 2-3 weeks I was paying double what I was when I was on t mobile Only good thing was the phone was sold unlocked
very informative video...the only problem i found with google fi is it doesn't really support iphone users...no wifi calling for iphone users makes it hard to use overseas...$.20 per minute is ok with me but i travel to place where wifi is available and would love the option to use it...great video though. you do a great job at breaking things down...keep them coming.
Why don't they just make unlimited data? Sometimes i use 80-90GB per month lol unless it means that data slows after 50GB but still unlimited data, that makes sense.
Thank you for this. I've been thinking of switching to Google Fi. You've given a lot of useful information here. I appreciate it. Also, you are a gorgeous woman.
Google Fi is not an option if you stay out of the country 2 months or more. They suspend service & leave you stranded. But keep right on billing you for NO service.
Correction: US Cellular is also one of the 2 networks used by Google FI. The other one is TM has you mentioned. It automatically switches to the best signal of these 2 networks.
sorry but one stare is too much for them, flexeible plane is the worst service ever, they will charge you $10 per one GB,so if you use 18GB that month then you will pay$180,but they were nice to give you freeeeee GB after the you reached the 18GB and pay the $180, nothing but ripoff , i did call customer service and talk to supervisor no one how i did get charged ,they changed the story three times google fi is the worst service ever out their
Google Fi plans have changed now.
It's not 22gb any more. It's 50gb now. The unlimited plus cost is now 65$ instead 70
Great

When my mint Mobile plan is up I’ll be switching 4 lines to Fi after I saw these plan changes.
I say Google Fi should lower the prices more.

Fi just updated 2 of these 3 plans. Would love to see an update to this review. :)
Their plans are actually cheaper now too unlimited plus is $65 and unlimited simple is $50

Since Google fi does not use Hangouts anymore is there another way to send and receive and have phone calls with a Chromebook or a laptop

Currently t mobile has the most coverage, followed by AT&T
The flex is 15GB then slows
How much did Google pay you to say this?

is it recommended to get google fi on a old unused iPhone just for a two week Europe trip.? and just pay for one month of unlimited. thx
Looks as if Mint, visible, us cellular, etc and Google voice are the way to go

I don't believe that's true you have 180 days and no more Data out of US

180 days out of US and it's no good
Wait, I'm confused. It ises T-Mobile network outside of America?

@Ethan Halpin I wouldn't go with Google fi either there phones is not that good but ta I would go with tmobile themselves then MVNO

Google Fi ain't worth it may as well just go to TMobile or TMobile prepaid unless you traveling

Tmobile gives all this with more less price...
I don't think they do switching like Fi for example
Cheers that shoe 👟 phone ☺️ loving google fi
Good to know.
i'm good with my visable plan paying 25 dollars a month .
Best of luck if you need customer service.

Amazing for travel. I love Google Fi.
Feels like a commercial
google fi just became cheaper while adding more benefits
This is a pretty terrible plan. On T-Mobile you can get an unlimited plan with 3 GB for $15 vs *$50* on fi. What a ripoff.

The only thing wrong is you only get 22 gigabytes of high-speed
They updated to 50gb the other day and dropped the price
