Michael, there is not sufficient care currently for residents in some of the older care homes. The nurses do their best, but are truly under physical and mental pressure. Ms Martin is exactly right, the patients are older and frailer and the criteria to be admitted is much more stringent. We looked after our elders, but families are smaller, houses are smaller and their children are all working. Usually the bulk of the care giving falls on one family member. I cared for my dad and worked full time. My siblings helped when they could but they all worked, married and raising families. He also was hard work.

You can only keep them in their own homes if the local council doesnt rate rise them until they are on the street.
