The Nightmare Before Christmas Sountrack #19 Closing

  • Track 19 with yet another appearance by Patrick Stewart, who narrates as Santa Claus. i think this was quite clever how he tells us what happends after the crhistmas fiasco, when he visits Jack and sees that he has a family of his own, and reminds him of the night when he tries to do Santa's job.
    this is used for entertainment purposes only, all credit goes to Tim Burton, Danny Elfman, and Henry Selick.

    For those who are asking why you haven't heard this, it's a narration. It was supposed to be at the end of the movie but they ran out of time to do the actual clip and animation. So they did a voice narration (which is above) and released it.

      This was part of the original release of the movie and early video releases. The final scene we hear here even shows Jack and Sally with their kids. I was never able to find out why they changed the narration and cut the ending.

      @@ComicBookHangover That is not true lmao, this was intended to be part of the movie but was cut but remained on the soundtrack.. The original release, just like every release since then, has ended on Jack and Sally in the moonlight, then credits. There was never a release with this scene as part of the film.

      @Gooshing Granny The So Original Commentator except there was. Early VHS releases had it, because I owned it myself. When I upgraded to DVD I was confused about the change in the opening and ending narration as well as the loss of Sally and Jack with their kids.
      It was there originally.

    "with four or five skeleton kids"
    I'm really glad that their love has meaning also for that the "dead" Halloween townsfolk have a "life", too. But I just keep and keep wondering about a "small" detail... and whenever I think I got it at last, through my mind it does slip...

    Such a shame this could not be included. The intro and the outro narrations are incredibly important to the story, but also cement that Jack and Santa become quite good friends after the holiday mashup. Of cours,e there was a lot cut from the final movie, i mean, Oogie Boogie's song loses the reference to the Cab Calloway dancing all due to time constraints.
    Oogie: "And now with your permission, I'm going to do my stuff!"
    Santa: "What are you going to do?!"
    Oogie: "I'm gonna do the best I can!"
    *Commence awesome semi rotoscopped scene of oogie Boogie dancing to a fantastic horn section of the orchestra as they parody the music of Old Man Of the Mountain*

    I like the idea of this ending narration, but I don't like the thought of Jack getting older. I mean, he's already dead, so the thought of him actually aging into an "old man" (how does that even work?) makes me really upset. I would have like to have seen more done with this movie, like some sort of a brief sequel to show him and Sally's life after that event or something along those lines. Other than that, though, this movie will always be a favorite of mine.

      Santa asks Jack if he had known then what he does now, would he have done the same thing still? When Jack says “Wouldn’t you?” What he means is the outcome. While his Christmas didn’t turn out the way he hoped, many good things came out of it. All the Holiday worlds united together, he was able to experience something new, he found the love of his life and now has a family. So if he could go back to that night, he wouldn’t change a thing.

    Never understood this film. Evil folk doing evil demented things then trying to change their ways to no longer be evil and then realize they can't not be evil so they go back to their evil ways.
    What the hell kinda twisted sad story is that? I felt like my soul got cancer when I first saw it. Did I miss something?

    • @TheJonnyknockout
      @TheJonnyknockout 9 років тому +16

      You mistake mischief for evil. The residents of Halloween Town were not evil,, Oogie Boogie excepted. They were merely mischievous. And since that is essentially the modus operandi of Halloween as a holiday, it stands to reason that they would NOT change that, by any means.

    •  9 років тому +4

      You missed everything, I supose.
      Even a Spaniard as me, watching it on original version, can understand it perfectly, and without seing on the film there's something evil or twisted, because, there isn't something similar.

    • @Quincy_Morris
      @Quincy_Morris 9 років тому +2

      Hm... so I can buy the whole "monsters aren't evil" in things like Monster's ink and even Hotel Transylvania. But for some reason I never bought it in this film as I never saw them ever do normal good things or really anything. I mean sure they claimed to "not be mean" but their whole shtick was scaring people. Which doesn't exactly make them not evil.
      Then again I never understood the "holiday" of Halloween. I mean a holiday devoted to fear, death, gore and demons? What the hell?

    • @TheJonnyknockout
      @TheJonnyknockout 9 років тому +12

      a) halloween is NOT about any of those things. halloween's traditional meaning coincides with Samhain which is a pagan holiday based around the harvest. the dead convene with the living, yes, but it isnt the focal point. Damn, you're judgmental...
      b) You also clearly never saw the film to the end. I'll spoil it for you: They are all capable of love and of joy. and AGAIN, you mistake mischef for evil... Are you ever dense. -_-

    • @Quincy_Morris
      @Quincy_Morris 9 років тому +2

      Halloween isn't about any of those things? Huh. Well that's a bit reassuring. Still it's confusing why people still decorate their houses and dress up like the holiday is devoted to all those things.
      Remember it doesn't matter how a holiday used to be celebrated or it's meaning back then, what's important is how it's celebrated now and what it's meaning is now.
      Also I believe your incorrect. All Hallows Eve is the day before All Saints Day, in which traditionally the Catholic church would celebrate all the dead saint folk. And the day before all the spirits were supposed to be up and about so folk would dress up as demonic whatnot to confuse the spirits.
      Or at least that's what my understanding on the history of the holiday is. But as I said it doesn't really matter.
      The only real difference I can see between mischief and "evil" is intensity. Perhaps I'm missing something.
      also calling someone Judgmental is an inherently judgmental action. The problem isn't with people being judgmental. The problem is people making judgments based on the wrong things or in the wrong ways.
