This one is especially different because Miyako doesn't play guitar at all here. But still we have the usual solos with her and Midori. I really like it and i think its a little bit underrated.
LOVEBITES - Spellbound lyrics & credits: Once upon a time, there was a girl with beautiful hair It was a breathtaking beauty, yes even for God Unforgiving love will make you blind to see calamity Approaching and already at your feet Until you're put under a curse No one comes closer No one is looking anymore Even plants, even birds, butterflies, trees and flowers No longer attractive Nobody knows what was lost Even stars, even clouds, the sky and the sun and the moonlight People don't realize how badly their sins can hurt someone Should they be forgiven ? Or have they sinned for eternity ? Which one has hers ? One day her beautiful hair turned into demons Feared by everyone, she's left alone and avoided Unforgiving sins will bring you closer to your judgement day Leaving you with nothing left to say Until you are out of time No one comes closer No one is looking anymore Even plants, even birds, butterflies, trees and flowers No longer attractive Nobody knows what was lost Even stars, even clouds, the sky and the sun and the moonlight People don't realize how badly their sins can hurt someone Should they be forgiven ? Or have they sinned for eternity ? Which one has hers ? No one comes closer No one is looking anymore Even plants, even birds, butterflies, trees and flowers No longer attractive Nobody knows what was lost Even stars, even clouds, the sky and the sun and the moonlight No one comes closer No one is looking anymore Even plants, even birds, butterflies, trees and flowers No longer attractive Nobody know what was lost Even stars, even clouds, the sky and the sun and the moonlight In her last moment the blood from her nect came alive Asking for love and forgiveness Why have you come, Holy Pegasus ? God, is she free now ? ----- lyrics: asami music: Mao arrangement: Mao & LOVEBITES (miho, haruna, midori, miyako, asami) album: Golden Destination EP 02/19/2020 ---
I'd only request more Lovebites, because they're the most amazing metal band I have ever heard! My favorite band of all time. 🤘 This one is great fun. Amazing as always! They can do it all. They're students of classic metal. Miyako loves to pay homage here and there, so I wouldn't be surprised if there's a reference in there. I didn't catch it, myself. I don't see your having reacted to Soldier Stands Solitarily, so I humbly suggest that. ua-cam.com/video/30yWisiRBuM/v-deo.html Haha as an aside, I had to edit my comment because you mentioned how hot panty hose was. I met them at a meet and greet after a show. Very first thing Midori says to me as I walked up (my hair is long now and was frizzed to hell, so this may have prompted her comment) was "It was so hot!"
You're exactly right. They are genuine friends---not just members of a band but real friends who love each other and bask in the power of their musicianship. That is the added color to an already wildly full spectrum. I imagine in rehearsals they get very, VERY adamant about a how a certain phrase should be played or which chord should precede another chord, but in the end, the music and their friendship disallows egos to dissuade them from the right course to take. It's almost like the music and their friendship is one thing.
🤘🐺🤘. I always find it funny in this video when Miyako tries to refuse the keytar. I got the Gene Krupa drummer reference. Not just because he and Buddy Rich were 2 of the drummers Neil Peart looked up to, but my Dad was a fan of Big Band.
Lovebites salute to 80's arena rock!!!!!!Miyako the musical savant shows off an even more insane talent on the synth and keytar while 4/5 months pregnant!!!!!! This was the COVID show in a dead arena, but the band rocked out regardless. Congrats as they won the Best Power Metal Band Award for 2024 in a landslide (53%) recently.
Your analyses are always linguistically eloquent and effortless. Famously, because of an enforced Covid delay to the tour, Miyako was noticeably pregnant in this performance. People debate exactly how far gone she was, but this was recorded March 26th and she announced both marriage and birth around the 11th November, so either she wasn’t “very” pregnant or the announcement was made some time after the birth. Either way, that’s why she was wearing flat shoes and playing guitar, keytar and, at one point, piano with guitar on her lap is all the more incredible. Notice that she tried juggling the strap into a better position at first, then has to quickly adjust it.
welcome back to the wolfpack. we thought you forgot about us!!!! great reaction as always. if you want a mind blown song do SOLDIER STANDS SOLITARILY and do the live version. ps. i have that shirt in a different color and they were the best live band ever!!!!
Ha, you had to witness this! LOVEBITES are a musical chameleon, incorporating all those iconic details and nods to the great Rock bands that went before, but making them their own within the context of a given song. Here, we have a total throwback to the 80s, when EUROPE and others of their kin roamed the Earth, and I will be surprised if the girls did not take you to the library with that synth riff you were looking for in your mind! 😁🤘Lyrically, this song is nothing less than myth of Medusa, done LOVEBITES style! Asami puts a lot of thought into her texts... can anyone name a European band who'd have done an accomplished song on a Japanese myth or two?.. 🐺
Now we need to persuade them to do a cover of THE FINAL COUNTDOWN. Joey Tempest and his boys would lay down their instruments at Our Ladies' feet in homage. 🤘🔥🐺🚀⏱️
Thank you for the reaction, it was amazing! In this performence I really love that little comedy bit where Miyako refuses to play keytar because it's "not cool" ;) Btw Gene Takovic is refrence to Better Call Saul - tv show, sequel to Breaking Bad.
Thank you Eric Clark. When I see someone wearing a LED ZEPPELIN T-shirt and recognize PINK FLOYD and NIGHTWISH in the background, it's clear that I'll like the descriptions of LOVEBITES, which is the case, huge respect. Before the pandemic in 2019, I went to two concerts, the first was by KING CRIMSON, the second by NICK MASON'S SAUCERFUL OF SECRETS and my prog heart went off. After that, I had concert tickets for SONS OF APOLLO and FAITH NO MORE, which unfortunately couldn't take place because of the damn Covid. After a long forced break, I finally went to two concerts again in 2024, the first was by LOVEBITES, the second by ROBERT PLANT presents SAVING GRACE feat. SUZI DIAN, it was a fantastic comeback as a concert-goer. I grew up with HEAVY METAL in the 1980s and with LOVEBITES I feel like a teenager again even though the musicians are much younger than me and that's crazy wonderful. 🤘🎵🐺🎵🤘
Great analysis and review ! This is just a fun LIVE song to showcase Miyako's keyboard skills. It's certainly a throwback to the '80s and every time I hear this song, it keeps reminding me a bit of Europe's "The Final Countdown"
Miyako should cut about 10 seconds out of being playful and got that keytar one so she wouldn't have to struggle with it. Oh well, all's well that ends well. I think LOVEBITES is most interesting when they get out of the boxes of traditional thrash and power metal. This song is a good example of that.
🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻You deserve more brother. Ever thought about creating a podcast as if it were a radio show? Maybe a collation between your reviews and bits of your concurpas comments and later on some “live” segments? I would listen to it nonstop. Thanks and keep up the great work! P.s. Even as I wrote that I realized one could just download and shuffle through your content, and yet, some of the magic would be lost…
Nice to see you back to the ladies. Talking about old references, do you remember the actor Michael Paré? His 80s action movies had a soundtrack that sounded a lot like this song, especially the synth sound. If my memory holds 40 years later it sounded exactly the same. Not good or bad, just an observation 😀
Hi Eric, this is a fun piece, she played an epic real piano work in recent piece titled Final Collision. You don't have to react to it but you need to listen to it because you know how she plays piano. ua-cam.com/video/K1aKrCyAP-E/v-deo.html Enjoy!!
Nice rreaction Eric. Golden Touch Miyako magic as ever, just as good on keytar as she is on guitar, and probably extra hot for her on stage as 4 or 5 months pregnant 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
Thanks for the great reactions. I admire your analysis from a wide range of perspectives, as it expresses beautifully the unspoken feeling I have in my heart. I would love to have you treat this “suite” as another progressive masterpiece. Edge of the World ua-cam.com/video/Zr99B4RvaMc/v-deo.html
This sound of this song is rather untypical for Lovebites. Some songs have a light synth background music, but none is this synth dominant. Also, from the performance point of view, when Miyako plays keyboard on stage, it is generally with piano sound. Nevertheless it is a refreshing an fun song. As for your anime comment, like others already mentioned, there is Windows of Transylvania. ua-cam.com/video/HsE4Ub_Pjh8/v-deo.html However that is quite a different style and extremely intense. Certainly worthwhile a reaction too.
oh yes - i remember "don't hate me because i'm beautiful" from 1986 - kelly lebrock selling pantene hair products. man was she hot ! 'weird science' and 'the woman in red'. oh yeah - and 'hard to kill ' with steven seagal. what ever happened to him anyway ?
Hey Eric, in a past review of our ladies you spoke to how we older guys are drawn to most of their music from our past and how it grabs us in a variety of ways and you are right - I'm 73 so my years of music began with fledging metal (Blue Cheer for example) and then the Brits, Maiden for me - your explanation was spot on. I'm certain you'll dig this one: ua-cam.com/video/FInyqXhlQzA/v-deo.html Adddicted, live 2020 Tokyo 🤘 🤘 🤘
My little sister went to High School with Bon Jovi so when I showed her this video she gave me the stink eye and smacked me up side the head! Turns out they had a couple lousy dates!
Hey man great reaction. Have you ever react to NF. His video HOPE is a masterpiece from start to finish. Have you heard of him? Please react to his video Hope in one of your next reactions please. You won’t regret it!!

Btw, great reaction as usual. You've been quiet regarding Lovebites lately. Just a thought. Thanks for taking the time.

I got the Gene Krupa drummer reference. Not just because he and Buddy Rich were 2 of the drummers Neil Peart looked up to, but my Dad was a fan of Big Band.
Its what you get when you take Miyako's guitar away and tell her to have fun 😂😂😂😂.

LOVEBITES going full-on 80's with this great performance. Miyako having fun up there, always enjoy this gem from the metal goddesses. 🎹🎸🤘🐺🤘
A nod to 80s keyboard driven hair metal.

I laughed at Miyako "No that keytar, please don't make me play that please. Well if I have to in order to stay in the band" 😂😂🤣😂

80's pop rock. Lovebites just did it amazingly. Versatile 👍🤘
Great band!
I really like this song. So different but so Lovebites as well. For an anime track, react to “Winds of Transylvania” (MV or live)
They play all kind of metal.....from glam to thrash.....and it play good......

If you look closely Miyako was still pregnant 5 or 6 months i read on the net maybe why she was on the organ.
2-3. The video was recorded on March 26th and she announced her childbirth on November 12th (7+ months after)
9 - 7= 2
She was on keyboard only for this song, the rest of the show she played guitar like always ;)
Great analysis and review ! This is just a fun LIVE song to showcase Miyako's keyboard skills. It's certainly a throwback to the '80s and every time I hear this song, it keeps reminding me a bit of Europe's "The Final Countdown"
A very fun song for the ladies
