It's kinda weird how both 26°C and 28°C seem to use the same amount of energy, right? You'd think that as it gets hotter, you'd need more energy to cool things down. But nope, apparently not! It's like, what's going on there? Maybe it's because our way of figuring out energy use isn't picking up on all the little things that affect it. Like, maybe the building's insulation or how efficient the AC is could be playing a big part. And hey, people might change how they use stuff depending on how hot it is outside, you know? Like, maybe they crank up the AC more when it's super hot, but not so much when it's just a bit warmer. Also, maybe the data we're using isn't totally spot-on. Like, how accurate are those energy usage estimates anyway? Maybe we need to double-check our numbers and see if there's anything we're missing. Anyway, it's definitely worth looking into more. If we can figure out why the energy use stays the same even when it's hotter outside, we could maybe find ways to save energy and cut down on costs. And that's gotta be a good thing, right?
A basic thing is to turn on your AC early, before it becomes uncomfortably hot. My peak hour is 4 pm at 34 Celsius and I want it to be 27 Celsius to be comfortable. There's a big difference in power consumption bringing the temperature down from 34 to 27 than from 30 to 27, so I switch on my AC at around 2 pm. Sure, it runs 2 hours longer, but at a much lower power consumption overall. Also my 2 ceiling fans help to get rid of hot spots under and in furniture etc. and it pushes the cold air down. I have the same LG AC (VM182C6). The Sleep Function is genius as it the low temperature gets uncomfortable after some time.
Yesterday I used LG 1.5 ton 5 star AC for 14hours ( day time : 5 hours , Nyt time : 9 hours ) so my AC consumed around 3units.. with AC at 29 Degree temprature. This is true and I'm using Wipro Smart plug to measure the units.
Its most likely correct, at 29 Degrees the compressor barely runs for a few minutes and if you don't have your ceiling exposed to the sun then, yes its most likely correct.
I have a regular submeter installed for my 1.5 ton ac. I use for about 14hrs, yet subneter only shows 2-3 units a day! I use at 30 degree at 40% capacity (sometimes decrease the fan to low/medium as i feel cold). My roof is fully exposed to the sun as i am top floor. The household bill for 3 months was 9875 while this ac only consumed Rs1170 for 2 months (117 units*10 Rs/unit; submeter installed for only 2 months). Is my submeter working? Or is it normal for an inverter ac to consume such low units when used at such settings...? P. S. No other ac here. But geyser used by landlord everyday for bath, and of course the daily water motor for overhead tanks. Winter bills are around Rs5000/3months with daily 4 geysers and water motor.
Bro I'm using my 1.5 ton 5 star AC for 20 hours at 30 degrees and it is consuming 30 units in a day. It's way too much tell me if something wrong with my meter?😭
Sir , I have a request please make a video of 1.5 ton AC set 25 degree and immediately convert at 40 % power saving mode.. for 8 hours and check how much cool air coming , how long it will take to maintain desire temperature and what is power consumption and unit.
Hi Charlie, a great explanation video! Btw, I would like to ask for your view on this particular scenario. 1. I mostly will set the temp of the ac around 26-28 deg, rarely lower. 2. Outside temperature is ranging around 30-34 deg. 3. Only 1 side of the room is having direct sun, with 1 window panels and 2 doors (bathroom and living) 4. Would say heatload on the lower side (mainly for sleeping and working with a laptop) Now, my room size is at the edge of either 1 hp or 1.5 hp. Planning to get an inverter unit, which hp should I go for? Thanks in advance!

New subscriber here! Appreciate all your videos for LG energy saving tips :) Question on time. Is it necessary to open the inverter AC for at least 8hours? (Or is there a magic number?) to make it more energy efficient? Or I can turn it off even as short as 1 hr as long as my desired 26 temp is reached? I'm worried that the on/off burst is more energy inefficient rather than just opening it for the whole day.
Thank you, Rona. I prefer turning off the AC whenever I can. It saves energy and extends like life of the AC itself because its not always running. There is no magic number to this, I think you should use your AC as you feel like. But if you are switching it off for just 30 minutes, its better to leave it running.
The longer you keep an inverter AC on, the shorter the consumption is. For example, when I use my AC for 4+6 hours (4 hours in the afternoon and 6 hours at night), it consumes almost 9 units but when I use it for 16 hours at a stretch, it consumes only 12 units.

Sir, I am using 9years old normal split ac voltas 1.5ton using it for 4hrs. The power consumption shows nearly 5-6 units in night time if i operate for 4 to 5hrs. Is it normal? Because I maintaining the temperature is 26c with full fan speed for 1hr an then I will switch to sleep mode for remaining hours ( 3- 4hrs). I don't know why power consumption is high even at 26c & 28c
Hello, now a big question is regarding the power consumption savings(if any) in using dry mode vs cool mode at 26 or 28 degrees Celsius for our humid conditions.(coastal area). Many say dry mode uses less energy. But can you do a video to check if it's true?
Sir if i run my ac at 30 degrees will it consume less electricity or will it consume more electricity because i read that it can consume more because condenser will turn off and on in shot span of time ?
Very nice. Was looking for a video like this. I too opearte my 5 star LG dual inverter ac at 40% capacity at 30°C. Can you make a video with these features for about 12/14/whatever suits you hrs a day?
@GamerFIeet I. Even now it's running at 40%, 30°C with fan at speed 1. My ceiling fan is at speed 2. Enough. Cool room. Not cold. EDIT: I stay on the topmost floor.
It indeed is oversized, it was a conscious decision to go with a bigger unit because its got a feature which let's you run it lower power (tonnage) I always run it at 40% power setting which is more than enough to cool the room even when it's 40 degrees outside, and because a 2ton unit has a much bigger outdoor unit and a big condenser, it's gonna be more efficient, and because it's always running at low power, it's going to last a long time (less stress on electronic components).
@@TechGuyCharliedoes your outdoor unit fan & compressor stops? When reaching the set temp on the remote? Because base on my observation on my haier split type dc inverter the outdoor fan & compressor stops sometimes when it reached the set temp.

Thank you, and from my testing the consumption increases slightly if the fan is set to low, especially in the afternoon. But that results in much better de-humidification. So low fan is great during the monsoon season, but for dry summers I prefer medium fan.
I have 1.5 ton carrier flexicool inverter ac i run it on 28 at night...i can hear my compressor running outside...please tell me because im new to the air conditioning😂 is everyone experience the same...when i used to go to my relatives in summers i didn't heard any sound of running compressors i have my compressor installed just behind the ac indoor unit on the same wall..
Sir please guide me, can I install one ton ac in my room , room size 160 ( 12x14), because my room is covered from all four sides by neighbour walls , and it is also ground floor... No direct sunlight on any wall and roof , my this room always maintain cool compare other outside room , I have measured the temperature of room , not goes above to 30 to 31,. In fact after 38 degree outside ,. My small room size 96 sq ft and sun light fall only roof by temperature, goes above 34 to 35. That's why I want go with big room..
I recently bought the LG window inverter 1.5 ton. Is LG application accurate about the KWh consumption? Also, my AC has ths energy-efficient saving mode but it doesn't have the option like yours where you can use it at 80/60/40. Should I used energy saving mode at 16 degrees or use it at 24 degrees? Or I shouldn't use energy saving mode at all and use normal mode at 24 degrees? Your reply would be appreciated. You have gained a new subscriber for your informative content. Thank you for your hard work.
You know what, I was just thinking of testing out if the app shows correct reading or not, so stay tuned, I will make a video on this topic, a lot of people have asked about this. If you want the best power savings, run the AC between 26-28 and the fan set to medium for daytime and low at night, test and experiment what temperature you find the most comfortable and balance power savings. 😊 As for energy saver mode, I am not sure how it works as I don't have it on any of the ACs. 🤔
Thanks, Maddy! 😊 Glad the video was helpful. Mine is partially exposed to the sun and I think placing Inverter ACs in direct sunlight will reduce their lifespan because during the months of May and June the metal casing of the outdoor unit gets well above 60 degrees C, you can imagine how hot the internal components like the inverter PCB gets. Although I've got another LG Dual Inverter AC sitting on the roof and that one remains exposed to the sun all the time and it has been over 5 years and it's working fine.
I'm guessing It's running in dehumidification 'dry' mode, because when you run the AC in dry mode, the indoor fan shuts off along with the compressor to prevent moisture from coming back into the room. Change the mode to 'cool' to make it run normally. Not sure about the power consumption in dry mode, I prefer running it in cool mode only.
@@jannatulpriya4937 if you run on 28, 29, 30 it does stop the Compressor for a while like traditional acs. No need to worry it won't impact the bill. I run at 28 my ac Compressor turns on and off if the room temperature is around 32
They both are exactly the same, I compared the specs side by side on LGs website, the only difference seems like the design and color of the indoor unit! Its hard for me to comment on performance since I haven't used that particular model, but it should be about the same as any 1.5Ton AC.
I will include the links to the LGs site, and if you take a look at the official site, both are rated at 400 ~ 5800 watts, and both are 5-Star WiFi-enabled models. Now I am not sure if gadgets 360 has made an error or LG has made an error on their site, I think the best would be to double-check on Amazon and if you can check offline like at Croma or Reliance store. MS-Q18SWZD: www.lg.com/in/air-conditioners/lg-ms-q18swzd MS-Q18GWZD: www.lg.com/in/air-conditioners/lg-ms-q18gwzd
My pleasure!! btw why don't you go for hot and cold model? The AC in this video is the hot and cold model and it works great during winters, much more efficient than a coil heater.
Well, in dry mode, when the room reaches the set temperature the indoor blower fan shuts off, this is to prevent the moisture on the coils from re-entering into the room. One disadvantage of dry mode is you can't set the temperature manually, the AC sets it automatically based on the outdoor and indoor temp, sometimes it will be set at 25, 26 and even 28 during the afternoon, which makes it difficult to do a power consumption test because the temperature will always be different in dry mode.
Hey, let me try and answer your questions: 1. I don't think AMC is mandatory for extended warranty, as the tech who came to install offered extended warranty without AMC. 2. Maintenance cost is ZERO, that is if you maintain the AC yourself, maintenance is simple: - clean the filters on the indoor unit every month - Secondly, wash the outdoor condenser coil with plain water every year - and lastly clean the indoor units coil every 3 years (for this you will need to call LG)
Pleaseeee Reply I have bought hyundai 1.5 ton invertor Ac which claims 70% of energy's saving.. I live on the uper portion only ceiling is sun facing.. I always keep Ac on 28°C and on Auto mode.. room is medium size.amd sealed... How much Electricity it will consume if I keep it on 24 hours.... and I want to ask if I switch off Ac for 4 hours and then switch it on will it lower my electricity bill?? or I should keep it on as every one says if we keep invertor Ac on it consume less energy when it switched off and again switch on it takes more energy...
It's a paint that you apply on your roof that reflects sunlight. Search for ' LuminX solar reflective coating' on Amazon, it makes quite a bit of difference.
Yes sir, it indeed does have one. Watch this video at this timestamp, you can see the micro dust filter, its green in color: ua-cam.com/video/US5RQN8hvC8/v-deo.html
@@TechGuyCharlie Nice bro, my unit doesn't have that but I noticed the empty slot for it, I guess maybe I could get that. Need to get in touch with the support. By the way love your videos keep doing great stuff bud.
Not every model comes with a micro dust filter bro, so its normal for your AC to not have one. You can always buy one from LG, but these hardly make much difference, if you want clean air, I would suggest a air purifier, even a cheap air purifier will perform a lot better than this. And thank you so much brother, your comments mean a lot. 😊

You may have noticed that the User Manual explains the features of your AC but also states "Optional" or "Depending on your specific model". The only way to find out which features are available on your specific AC is to cycle through the "Mode" and "Func" menus. Mine has all the features available. It is a cold only model because I don't need heating where I live.
No, it does not, 28 uses far less energy then 26, the consumption is more because the outside temp is much higher now (42.5 vs 39) than what it was when I did the test previously, I have clearly explained this in the video.
Hi bro. Ac was on at 7 pm. And switched off at 6 am.. around 11 hours usage. 26 degree Fan medium speed Sleep mode But units was 13 units used . Pls help . Why it's high ? What I have to change ?
I think its quite normal, if your AC is installed in a big room and if you live on the top floor, the power consumption will be high. BTW what meter are you using to measure the power consumption?
That reading you're seeing is the reading of the entire home! To check reading of the AC only you'll need a standalone meter like the one I've got, that's why you're seeing high unit count because it also includes the usage for your entire home. So I think there is nothing wrong with your ACs power consumption, it's normal. 😊
It wasn't too bad! especially with the ceiling fan running I had no problems sleeping, but certainly not as comfortable at night compared to 26 degrees.
Hi would like to see the difference in power consumption for 26 and 28°C. Since this time the outside temperature changed.. 28° used more power than the previous test. Can u tell what would be power saving be going from 26 yo 28 ° C
Initially I was planning on re-doing 26 and including it in this video, but the very next day the max temp dropped to 40, and after that it was 38, so this is what makes it very difficult to do these kind videos, because if I want 100% accurate results then the outside temp should be exactly the same as it was the previous day, and it always never is. 😁 By the way, I usually keep the temperature at 26 at night while sleeping and 28 during the day when its 38-42 this gives an average of 7-9 units depending on how hot it is outside, I hope this helps.
what will be the difference cool mode vs dehumidifier mode. I have whirlpool magiccol AC of 1.5 ton inverter model. I keep it 29 deg at dehumidifier mode and outside temperature is 36,37 deg in day(kolkata) and 30,31 deg in night. room size is 120 sqft. any idea of my wattage per hour would be? I guess 250 kWh. what you say?
Power consumption as per data from this video would approx be as:-
22°c- 700 watt
24°c- 550 watt
26°c- 420 watt
28°c- 350 watt

I have 1.5 ton carrier flexicool inverter ac i run it on 28 at night...i can hear my compressor running outside...please tell me because im new to the air conditioning😂 is everyone experience the same...when i used to go to my relatives in summers i didn't heard any sound of running compressors i have my compressor installed just behind the ac indoor unit on the same wall..
New viewer bhai .. please explain how to save much electricity,, using cool mode at 28 degree or using automatic mode at 28 degree? Please explain bro
my favorite temperature setting
The best for staying comfortable, not too cold, nor hot.

Buy any 4 star 1 ton invertor ac .. Best for ur room..
Why do you put it in sleep sleep mode when you have to re adjust back to 28? Why not just leave it at 28?
Exactly..
Is AC consume electricity if we off AC only through remote not from MCB?
Nope, the AC does not consume any electricity if you switch it off using the remote.
As for energy saver mode, I am not sure how it works as I don't have it on any of the ACs. 🤔
Is your outdoor unit exposed to sun or is it in shade? And does that make any difference?
Thank you for this video.. Nicely explained!
@@TechGuyCharlie I agree, thanks for your quick response! 🙌
This AC is of 1 ton or 1.5 ton?
Is it better to use AC at 28 degrees or energy control mode at 40 to save power and to reduce electricity bill?
I run at 27 - 28.. comfortable cooling
@@kamathadhihow much powerconsumption you have observed?
🔥🔥🔥
Thank you bro 😊
What's your room complete height length and breadth
bro, my inverter ac fan turn off and on, is it normal? is that mean, the compressor also turn off? Can it cause more power consumption?
I'm guessing It's running in dehumidification 'dry' mode, because when you run the AC in dry mode, the indoor fan shuts off along with the compressor to prevent moisture from coming back into the room.
Change the mode to 'cool' to make it run normally.
Not sure about the power consumption in dry mode, I prefer running it in cool mode only.
@@TechGuyCharlie I was runnig it in the cool mode, but in the 30 degree!
@@jannatulpriya4937 if you run on 28, 29, 30 it does stop the Compressor for a while like traditional acs. No need to worry it won't impact the bill. I run at 28 my ac Compressor turns on and off if the room temperature is around 32
Bro MS-Q18SWZD vs MS-Q18GWZD which is better in performance and energy efficiency
They both are exactly the same, I compared the specs side by side on LGs website, the only difference seems like the design and color of the indoor unit!
Its hard for me to comment on performance since I haven't used that particular model, but it should be about the same as any 1.5Ton AC.
@@TechGuyCharlie sir but sites like gadgets 360 States That One Of em Has a cooling capacity 4000 W.. I guess That Lg site has Right specs ?
I will include the links to the LGs site, and if you take a look at the official site, both are rated at 400 ~ 5800 watts, and both are 5-Star WiFi-enabled models. Now I am not sure if gadgets 360 has made an error or LG has made an error on their site, I think the best would be to double-check on Amazon and if you can check offline like at Croma or Reliance store.

@@TechGuyCharlie thank You sir
My pleasure!! btw why don't you go for hot and cold model? The AC in this video is the hot and cold model and it works great during winters, much more efficient than a coil heater.
Can you do a power reading regarding dry vs sleep mode?
Well, in dry mode, when the room reaches the set temperature the indoor blower fan shuts off, this is to prevent the moisture on the coils from re-entering into the room.
One disadvantage of dry mode is you can't set the temperature manually, the AC sets it automatically based on the outdoor and indoor temp, sometimes it will be set at 25, 26 and even 28 during the afternoon, which makes it difficult to do a power consumption test because the temperature will always be different in dry mode.
Bro your videos are incomplete without saying it's pretty warm outside With a foreign accent 😂
Hehe, that is actually my normal accent! 🙈 a lot of people think I'm faking it but this is how I speak in real life lol.
@@TechGuyCharlie I see your usage was 0.3 kw minimum with an outside temperature of 40 deg.
Do we need to take Amc for extended warranty?. What is maintenance cost of this ac?
Hey, let me try and answer your questions:
1. I don't think AMC is mandatory for extended warranty, as the tech who came to install offered extended warranty without AMC.
2. Maintenance cost is ZERO, that is if you maintain the AC yourself, maintenance is simple:
- clean the filters on the indoor unit every month
- Secondly, wash the outdoor condenser coil with plain water every year
- and lastly clean the indoor units coil every 3 years (for this you will need to call LG)
@@TechGuyCharlie How much is for the extended warranty?

I have bought hyundai 1.5 ton invertor Ac which claims 70% of energy's saving..
If you keep switching the AC on and off, your room temperature will rise and the next time you tun on the AC, it will have to start with 100% load.
what is that heat shield paint happening at your ceiling? plzz tell ne
It's a paint that you apply on your roof that reflects sunlight. Search for ' LuminX solar reflective coating' on Amazon, it makes quite a bit of difference.
Hi bro, does your model got micro dust filter?
bhai mai temp 27 pe set krta hu pr mera ac room temp 23 tk pahuch jata hai . ye 27 maintain kyo ni krta?

Sir mere ac me new problem hai sir ....I set my ac on 26 and maintains 26 earlier but when I set it at 26 it only maintain 28 why sir...is there any problem regarding the ac ..???
I hope the condenser is clean? how old is the AC? I've never had any issues with my LG AC, it cools the room down to 22.
@@TechGuyCharlie my Voltas ac is new...only one week old . I check my room temperature it fixes on 28 but pahle 26 tak aa jaata tha...koi solution sir...
Is it 2 ton ac?
You may have noticed that the User Manual explains the features of your AC but also states "Optional" or "Depending on your specific model". The only way to find out which features are available on your specific AC is to cycle through the "Mode" and "Func" menus. Mine has all the features available. It is a cold only model because I don't need heating where I live.
bing ai brought me here, thanks
It is some what higher consumption than 26 degrees...i think so it is better to maintain 26 than 28
No, it does not, 28 uses far less energy then 26, the consumption is more because the outside temp is much higher now (42.5 vs 39) than what it was when I did the test previously, I have clearly explained this in the video.
I mean I have a solar system so it doesn’t matter I can do it at 20 degrees
Hi bro. Ac was on at 7 pm. And switched off at 6 am..
around 11 hours usage.
26 degree
Fan medium speed
Sleep mode
But units was 13 units used .
Pls help . Why it's high ?
What I have to change ?
I think its quite normal, if your AC is installed in a big room and if you live on the top floor, the power consumption will be high. BTW what meter are you using to measure the power consumption?
@@TechGuyCharlie eb government reading metre
@@TechGuyCharlie any spl tips can u give ?
Like 27 or 28 degree or low fan or medium fan mode like that. Pls
That reading you're seeing is the reading of the entire home!
To check reading of the AC only you'll need a standalone meter like the one I've got, that's why you're seeing high unit count because it also includes the usage for your entire home.
So I think there is nothing wrong with your ACs power consumption, it's normal. 😊
@@TechGuyCharlie last doubt pls.
Fan speed which will give power consumption. Fast or medium or low ? Or none? Pls
Kudos.. We made u to sleep one night with ac at 28..haha.. We people r getting quite demanding 😜
It wasn't too bad! especially with the ceiling fan running I had no problems sleeping, but certainly not as comfortable at night compared to 26 degrees.
One time compare 26 and 28 degree power consumption i think 28 is consuming more than 26 ..do it by keeping ac fan speed in high.
Did you watch the video properly? I have clearly explained why 28 is using the same energy as 26.
By the way, I usually keep the temperature at 26 at night while sleeping and 28 during the day when its 38-42 this gives an average of 7-9 units depending on how hot it is outside, I hope this helps.
what will be the difference cool mode vs dehumidifier mode.
💙👀👀
If at 28...y should I even buy AC😂
Please reply roof cool paint shield really work
Absolutely bro! It makes quite a lot of difference, we used 'LuminX Heat Resistance Paint, White' bought it from amazon.
