Drummer reacts to "Rover" & "One Brown Mouse" by Jethro Tull

- Always feels sad when we finish an album. But, I am so glad we did this one. The mix of the old world sound and the modern electric guitar is just sublime. Martin and Ian are one hell of a duo, as I always say. Barrymore (if it was him?) did great as always with the extra percussion and that xylophone (I think?) was cool. "Heavy Horses" is still my favorite track from this album, hands down. I had a blast with this one... on to Songs from the Wood! Thank you to our patron Ford Prefect for helping with his requests and getting this album done!

Correction: The patron who requested this was Ford Prefect. Seems the heat was messing with my brain. My apologies Ford!
Thank you Ford. On to SFTW. After that ??
wow is Ford Prefect still around, ask him if he has seen Arthur.
Many thanks to Ford, Cora and anyone else who requests Tull. One Brown Mouse is definitely one of my favorites on this album!
I don't like to overuse the term "Masterpiece" for an album, but Jethro Tull does seem to collect a massive amount of them.
PS: Barriemore Barlow is a God! A GOD!!!!!!!! Well, ok .. I exaggerate. He is my favorite Drummer / Percussionist.
I’ve always loved John Glascock’s bass on this song. RIP John
Outstanding album
i agree. not my favorite but i still loved listening though it with yall. "Heavy Horses" is the standout track for sure.
When I bought the album, when it was released, One Brown Mouse became the track I would always drop the stylus on. So catchy and so good!
And like you say Lee, made me happy to be alive and hearing it. Don’t we all need that?
The melody of One Brown Mouse is stuck in my head. I find when I’m playing guitar I’ll just go to it for a bit. Love it! Love the album! Second to me from Songs From the Wood.
One of my favorite Tull albums. Still have the original vinyl stored away. CD too.
Lovely Tull tracks, great album too.
You love Heavy Horses, but One Brown Mouse has always been my favorite from this album. It just....rocks, but with the wonderful Tull style.
Congrats on a great name Mr Prefect!
Many Tull fans stopped listening to their music after the 80's, but there are at least two brilliant Tull albums, from the last 30 years, "The Christmas Album" and "Roots to Branches". I'm also fond of "Catfish Rising" and the live albums like "A Little Light Music" and "Living with the Past".
Also finally I’ll get to hear your reaction to Pibroch from Songs from the Wood. I enjoy your work
Barrymore was on Heavy Horses. He was with Tull through Stormwatch.
? are you talking about the description? i wasn't sure if it was him playing the xylophone. i know he's drumming on here lol
@@L33Reacts Ahh .. Probably Martin on the xylophone. He often is. You'll see it on Velvet Green
@@corawheeler9355on record I think it's Barriemore as an overdub. Martin only live.
@@jimhardiman3836 Interesting. They did a lot of things differently on stage. They had a tape playing with the SFTW harmonies, and Barlow pretending to play flute. Palmer feared that one night something would go wrong .. never did.
@@corawheeler9355 yes, and John Evan playing the drums on Skating Away.
You'll enjoy the live version of One Brown Mouse from Bursting Out! Much more 'rockish!'
If you think this has an old world feel just wait until you get to Songs from the Wood.
I can't wait to get started next week! People have been requesting that album for many moons 🤣👍
What amazes me Barrie’s drum beats are different in every song he has played on. Do you agree?
My favourite Tull album followed by my favourite Tull album (too hard to pick).
there are so many to pick from lol throw a stone in any direction and you'll hit a good tull record
@@L33Reacts Much like Steely Dan.
One Brown Mouse isn’t the last song on Heavy Horses. The last one is Weathercock. EDIT: Never mind…
i know edit: never mind... lol jk ;)
You're right. I was thinking Isnt weathercock the last Song?🤔😀
@tommy8058 yeah I Said it was my last song to finish up heavy horses, not the last song of the album.
I think rover is about a dog.He slips the leash and he's on his way. If you ever notice it seems like Ian has written a song about every animal or creature there is. I mean, it's horses, moths, dogs,
Mice, cats, whales, ducks, etc
As I recall, at one time he even turned loose Mother Goose...
And she was screaming!
(i dont know either of these songs) 👀😂😐😬😆
well now i do 😁 not my fave album but it has a nice atmosphere.
yeah it has a nice atmosphere for sure. makes you feel comfy. not my favorite either but still a great listen (as is the norm with Tull it seems)
In the late 70s, when the rock world zigged, Jethro Tull zagged -- thank goodness. Of those two songs, I greatly prefer Rover, but wish Ian's hoarse voice sounded more like it did on Mouse.
Whethercoc is the last song in this album
