4:05 I think the old Timers called these noises Tommy Knockers giving us a warning of a mine collapse WOW, that made my heart skip a beat. Hunters making me think the mine is collapsing LOL You have my subscription! I belong on top of 8K and 13K mountains, I cannot go into these holes, thank you for doing that for me!
Not sure if you'll see this, but my husband rescued the old Power Wheels three wheeler shown around 13:30 earlier this year. It was a little worse for the wear after sitting outside for a couple more years after you posted this video and was in two pieces, but he carried it out on his dirtbike and brought it home. He cleaned it up and put it back together as best he could. It's sitting up on a shelf in the garage on display. Thanks for posting this video!
I grew up in Minersville. I’m 63. Me and my buddies hiked all over in those mountains. I sure do miss those days and all of you that live there back home. Thanks for the videos.
Just subbed to your channel. Just moved to the Coalport area four years ago !! No shortage of rocks here in my area also ! That's one big mountain of a coal mine , bless the men and women that worked so hard in them !
Hi Chris. It’s really cool seeing all the forgotten remains of the coal industry in your area. Thanks for making these videos. I live in the slate belt of Pa and like exploring the old quarries and learning the history of my area.
Cool to see some stuff closer to home. If you want to see a lot more old coal mines and remnants go to Shamokin. Im waiting to get an oxygen/4 gas monitor before I go exploring some but I've been wanting to do the same thing, document this stuff before its gone and closed up for good. Theres enough mines around town here to document for yearssss. Found most of them riding or walking old miners paths. I also found a source for all the underground mine maps and pictures of them while they were in operation.
If my research is correct this is called the “West Holmes Drift” Didnt go far back, as in person it only looks like 20-35 feet, but not really anything special. The map shows a little bit of “pillar mining” but it seems inside there’s nothing.
I believe that mine you found is what is known as the Ashland Anticline. It is a geologic feature that I have been looking for now for sometime. I have a book, Geologic Wonders of PA, from 40 years ago or more with a picture of it and what you found sure looks like it. I found coordinates online one time and put them in my GPS but when I got to those coordinates I didn’t see anything remotely resembling the Anticline. It is supposed to be between Ashland and Byrneville on the mountain. I though maybe over the years it was covered over but I see now it’s not. Must have had the wrong coordinates. Now my interest is renewed to find it. Thanks for posting your video!
@@coalcrackerchris haha that ridgeline was so high! My palms got a little sweaty just looking over the edge. And thank you! You as well! If I'm up in PA sometime I'd love to explore with you!
You need to explore the john eagle colliery in saint clair there's a way into it and it's decently safe but I guess all mines aren't safe so be careful if you do want to go inside I think it would make a great vid
@@coalcrackerchris ya I watched that he never went in though there's also three other ways in besides the one entry way he was by the whole things is pretty secure being there since 1800s and people actually go in there more than you would think it's a really cool and big mine and goes way down just thought it would make a good vid

Have you explored the 2 exposed adits in the gullet near "vomit hill" above rt 61S in darkwater? I like your videos & love the area, for atv riding 👍😉 Sure I can show you but I currently have a one person atv. I used to put the grandson on the back but once he hit about 80 lbs, we were riding wheelies without trying. It might have been a slope tunnel thru seams that they stripped at some point. Hit me up on FB

Got that safty lamp...and a FRO passenger permit!

Reading anthracite has the trail maps on maprica. I ride 4 wheelers up there and find my way around using my phone and maprica.
Thanks

Ive heard the Ashland Anticline mentioned, never really tried to follow up on it, but I dont think this cave is it.
Great video
Is the ice cream shop still at the end of town? And the hoagie shop at the top of town? I miss those hoagies 😭💞
Thank you for sharing. Happy Thanksgiving🦃🥧🍴🍽
You too👍🦃🍻

This is how they are all around my house to near Hazleton. I found a couple you can still get in but it’s sketchy.
Got to show me these someday.

Researching it..been there twice to scout it out... need air meter( know a freind that has one from NJ) The Wandering Woodsman did a vid on this.

There’s one in Saint Clair by the DD but (I’ve heard) had many false floors not too far in from the entrance.
Ive never actually heard any talk of it being a coal mine,.. growing up it was always just referred to as the " Echo Cave".
I could have been misinformed on it being an mine adit, but there were 2 collieries on a map here
Watched😎
Is this private property or is it now public game lands? Nice video.
Its not posted
Did you mean Oakland Ave ?
I think your right. Road,avenue,street....it gets confusing

Locals refer to this rock formation as “The Echo”.
How extensive and far back does it go?
100 ft or so
@@coalcrackerchris Nice 🙂
But its all collapsed
@@coalcrackerchris ahhh gotcha!!
I have some old mine ruins getting torn down in my area, I will have a new vid of this shortly :)
When it is gone............ it is gone forever !!!!
