I noticed that even though naam has a long vowel (at least in karaoke Thai, but in Thai font it's not long) Thais actually pronounce it more with a short vowel instead. Just an interesting observation :) Thanks for the lesson as always.

You've got a great ear! While น้ำ is written with a short vowel, it's one of those special Thai words where we do pronounce it longer (náam) - making it an interesting exception to the rule! Thanks for bringing this up! 😊
