- I know how difficult it is to find a complete list of RPGs for the PS1. I've seen a lot of people throwing up lists of their favorite RPGs, but nobody seems to have done a complete list. So, for all of you who have been waiting, here it is!
The music is public domain and a remix uploaded by an anonymous individual to a site where they remix scores from various video games. The song is called, "Few Paths Forbidden," and it comes from the game, "Seiken Densetsu 3."
This list is comprised of the entire PS1 RPG library. These titles have been released in North America and Europe only. It is in alphabetical order. Here is the list as shown in the video:

Years, years back (I think I was 7 or 8 at the time) I stumbled upon a demo game which had this amazing battle music... That was the only thing I could remember from the game, also the general RPG elements, and whatnot. The music kept creeping in my mind years later and I would be racking my brain cells to remember the game. Yesterday I finally tried to find the game from Google, but to no avail. Then I found this video. I typed the names of the games' battle musics in the search bar, and I finally found it! 20 years later.

your list is awesome, lucky you to be in usa and not in europe where it s a struggle to find some games , i used to own like 80 per cent of this list , (some game where so difficult to get i only had some burns copy of it) i lost and sell most of them and it s a regret now , i m getting my coll back again
Thank you for this list! Can you help me out? I played a PS1 demo as a kid, where you traveled in a forest, faught monsters and capturing them. I could then summon them in combat to fight for me. Combat was like Final Fantasy 8, where you waited for a bar to go up before it was your turn. It was all in 3D, with a realistic look. And it was quite honestly a scary game for me at the time.
Unfortunately that is all I remember. Would be awesome to get my hands on that game again :)

Legend of Dragoon: first game to ever introduce me to the RPG genre (I had only played the demo for a while before I got the full game)
Digimon World 3: the first actual RPG I've ever owned ( and still couldn't complete because I didn't have a memory card)

I´m searching an a RPG I played as kid. The only thing i remember no Random Encounters the Monster where in the world. You could heal in the beginning of your turn and then move on with your turn. You could combine attacks and in some of the chapters some characters left your group and came back later...
Dragon Quest IV is also on Playstation. Front Mission 1 and 2. Tales of Phantasia.
Sad to say, I believe you have missed a game somewhere. I didn't see anything that reminded me of a certain ps1 rpg game I used to play, I forgot the name :/. A little description: Main character is a guy, uses swords (2h, if I remember right), there's a group of enemies, kinda like a pokemon team rocket, who fights you over and over, they even have a huge wooden machine eventually. In the beginning you're in a town, and can buy a new sword, if you cut grass/bushes and found gold coins in there

i think the game have a pre-rendered graphics.
Its game where the main char(young guy) wake up in a bed of small room, then suddenly appear a cutscene where its having a earthquake in flying school, and when main char get out of room he go up by stairs, where its like a dungeon with like a cave, where suddenly appear a huge boss from pit that have a form of dragon something like that.
Its a rpg by turns like FFVIII and he was fighting boss alone.
I watched FFVIII but still cant find that scene

Man..the PS One was the best system for RPGs and strategy games. Thank God for emulators!
I remember a game on the PS1 that was just like the HOMM series. You had to ride a horse and recruit people. I really don't recall the name.

yo im looking for game like saiyuki but not saiyuki , same rpg only thing i remember is theres KAPPA character in that game

fuck yeah. dark stone. I was looking for this game for a while. I played it when I was a kid. Loved the shit out of it.
maybe someone can help me here. i've played a ps1 rpg game long time ago. i believe it was a japanese one. you play as a boy with a sword as main (and only(?)) weapon. one of the boy's moves is sliding to knock down the enemies. the ingame environment contains many riddles to solve in order to move on in the game. some of the minibosses are a giant cat and giant statues. at the end you fight against a green alien-like being with white eyes. the fight consists of 3 stages: the "alien" in his normal form, in a bug-like form and in the "giant head with 2 arms" form.
What about Master of Monsters Disciples of Gaia?
there is a game I played long time back but I don't remember if it was ps1 or n64.
the only things I remember about it are is was an rts rpg
the battle field and your party was litteraly miniature, the combat took place on like table's and there were books in the background it was either silly or bazzar.
you could move at 3 spaces (the spaces were tiles) there was some elevation involved and the selected spaces were red before you moved. I think you could summon stuff onto the battle but I'm not sure, and it was not final fantasy tatics.
this will drive me insane until I know.

It was released in 97 on the playstation as well, I used to have it but sold it. Now I'm kicking myself for that one

I'd rather buy a game in full package than connect on my internet to download extra stuff.
Romance of Three Kingdoms IV and VI, Tales of Symphonia, Tales of Phantasia, World of Dragon Warrior - Torneko. (from my personal collection that you missed ;) )
romance of three kingdoms isn't an rpg. Tales of Symphonia was never released on the original playstation. Tales of Phantasia was only released in japan on the playstation and Torneko is actually listed in the video at 4:42
Martin Smith Just because you don't know Japanese doesn't make Phantasia invalid. I bet you're gonna tell me that the Shin Megami Tensei series is also not an RPG? Although it's one of the best selling series in Japan. There are so many missing in this list, but I don't have the time to bicker. Symphonia was release on ps2 indeed, but yeah, there are plenty missing. How does it feel to be so clever?
Ian Parker Didn't mean to sound like I was having a go at you I was just pointing out what I think seedy gamers reasoning for not listing the games you mentioned is. I'm pretty sure this is only a list of English releases otherwise yes he has missed out a hell of a lot of rpgs. Shin Megami Tensei and all of its spin offs are indeed all rpgs (in fact Persona 3 is my favorite one) but I thought the RTK games on the PlayStation were solely strategy games
The best RPG's are on the PS1 and Sega Saturn has a few great titles I want in my collection.

Where is "Master of Monsters: Disciples of Gaia"?
If anyone could help my find this game that would be awesome. Im looking for a game thats eluded my mind for several years now. I can only remember really small details. In the beginning you can choose from 4 characters, the starting town has chickens, and next to a big tree in the starting town there is someone you can pay to sing, and the camera starts sweeping around the tree/town. Then you can turn and go into a forest, where you can fight giant bees, i think. Any and all help is appreciated.

i played a game as a kid i always thought it was wild arms but apparantly is wasnt all i can remember is you eventually get your own island and u have to recruit ppl to work on it as part of a army / rebellion

You're probably talking about Suikoden the first one which is a very good game by the way. I recommend Suikoden II which is the best one in this series (in my opinion of course).
Can someone help me, i remember a ps1 game
I think it was rpg.. after the first 5-10 minutes it had a scene similar to when sethoroth killed the female party member in ff7
But it was the players main charaxter (I think).. the party (you and two others( changed depending on the name you had and a few other questions (I think).
After this first area.. there was a city by an ocean you go to.. with an old man you have to fight, i can't discribe more beacuse ive never played past that(my disc was scratched sorry).. i want to know what this game was!.. i want to find it again
still can't find the game i need :( i don't remember the name of it but it is an rpg game with 3 characters, 2 boys and one mage girl. You have to play through each character's story until they all meet and join together. In world map you have to press Square and there would be a bright light spread from the character to reveal the new place or wherever u need to find.

hey, does anybody remember a PS1 game (rpg) (that was kind of set up like Pokemon like the display and dialogue) where it starts with you waking up in your bed, going downstairs and your mother gives you a lunch to bring to your dad. then you go to a boat, you can smash vases and stuff for supplies btw, and then when you leave the ship a clip plays of the boat sailing away and fireworks. i was young so i dont remember much, just exploring around, there was a map kind of like skyrim too. At some point i remember finding a castle with royalty in it that you had to talk to. I remember this weird place that used to scare me as a kid in the game, it was like a smokey Stonehenge looking place like a maze almost. ive literally looked everywhere for it and cant remember the name. Its not anime of any kind (i dont think) the cover didnt have any faces on it i dont think.

Im looking for an RPG. not sure if im remembering a bunch of them as 1 but... i remember a flying ship, like a boat but it flies. I remember multiple characters and constantly revisiting a town where they have like...gladiator battles, tournament style. must have been a big prize or something because i just remember going to that town 100 times. I also remember the back of the game case bragging about it having an insane amount of gameplay hours. HELP!

There was a final fantasy tactics a like in ps 1 thats so hard to beat. :'( i cant find it, its like 11 enemies and only 6 of you. It was so hard i loved playing it. Please i cant find it here dude. All pictures.

In this video there are games listed, that are more strategic games or action adventures then rpgs but still they have rpg elements in it and tomba has for me also some rpg elements.

Its called chrono trigger. Very good game.
Saiyuki: Journey West. That ape guy looks like SS4 Goku because well, they're both based on the same Sun Wukong from the Chinese novel Journey to the West. The character probably took some inspiration from SS4 as it seems to have been in development when DBGT was airing.
Although, it could be another game entirely you're asking about.

Im looking a rpg games that you start as a child with a hat, if I remember, atfer he fight with a Boss, he look at the sky is at the night, then you play another character, the guy is blue haired, and then he will be jailed and he meet a bald man with eyeglasses and he join you, I want to play this game again T_T if you guys know the game and tell me the name would be nice.

nop but he forgot chrono trigger but technically theere s no chrono trigger edited in english exept in final fantasy chronicles where you get ff4 and chrono trigger, ( correct me if i m wrong)

Final fantasy chronicles is included. That was the ps1 port of ff4, and chronology trigger.
Having RPG aspects doesn't make a game an RPG. Castlevania: Symphony of the Night is not an RPG!

I would've said something if Dino Crisis was on this list. SOTN is totally an ARPG though.

A small example :Ronin Blade, Ninja Shadow of Darkness, Master of Monsters. Disciples of Gaja, Vampire Hunter D, Ehrgeiz Story Mode, Devils Deception, Rising Zan, Metal Gear Solid, Gallerians, Resindent Evil 1and 2. ( Sure it´s a Rpg!! If not, then the need to get out Paraside Eve and more ^^?) Dino Chrisis, Tobal No 1 (Story Mode) Tobal No 2, and any More. In Japan gives to any Anime a ps1 Game too. Dr Slump, Bastard, Mega Man Legends, A Big Hand full ps1 Hentai Games with Rpg Engine ^^ and any more. and that's just what I do just as occurred. the list completely would have about more than 200 titles. There was even a booklet in my country , where all were listed . Unfortunately, I have long gone T , T Nice greetings
I have owned most of those titles, and none of what I know of , s an rpg .just because something has elements, doesn't make it an rpg.... If you have seen his videos, he has included the hybrids that are debated. Your list of games is incorrectly applied.
+robert diefendorf It's just a way of playing . It remains RPG . Title xy would also be removed from the list : Paraside Eve is , so then no RPG, or does it? But then it is also Resident Evil . GTA is an RPG ! Metal Gear too! Just because you can does not have a sword , and otherwise experienced the roller on the play, it remains RPG . Typical components are as much too diverse . Example : Ronin Blade is an action fighting game Samurai with history . But on typical elements will of course be omitted. The style of play is different. But then also DarkSouls no roleplaying ? Same Game play ! Also Musashi is so. It's just more hack and slash connected . You have to carefully consider the various elements . Pen and Paper ! Where is Babohmets curse? I think you understand what I mean .

This list is North American releases that are PRIMARILY RPGs. They all contain some mix of other genres and elements, but those are secondary.
The games your describing are secondary rpg elements. They are not RPG game plays with a little action, survival horror, left adventure , ect. Added on. That's why I'm saying this list is correct , and not some subjective opinion. Your titles , say tonal no.1, is primarily a fighter , with dungeon crawl and rpg elements. Even some platforming.... But it is not a primarily rpg gameplay title, it's secondary.
