    I think that green is a great score separator and pros should have to deal with tricky greens that involve more obstacles and OB

    • @willhartz2853
      @willhartz2853 Рік тому +2

      Same, I still think distance should be rewarded on some holes and all that but the tricky greens really test a players putter touch and I think that’s just as important to the game and would be entertaining to watch as well, who doesn’t love obstructed highlight putts and throw ins?

    • @MrKonkerable598
      @MrKonkerable598 Рік тому +5

      Its a score separator for sure but with how steep that green is theres a lot of randomness that comes in to play. You could land a putter exactly how you want and it could bounce up and roll down the hill into the ob or throw a bad show that lands on angle and get lucky and have it stick

    • @lukelevesque9632
      @lukelevesque9632 Рік тому +1

      @@MrKonkerable598 More random than a wind gust or a chain out? I would argue it gives an advantage to throwers who toss weirdly soft plastic that is extremely unlikely to roll. Other than that, it’s fair game. And if you think back to the video, I guarantee you will remember beautiful sceneries, long shots, and that green. It’s a staple and should remain.

    • @Ronnocanada
      @Ronnocanada Рік тому +1

      Fair points, especially for backhand hyzer approach. I am, however, struggling to see why you could not just throw a forehand approach and match the angle on hyzer and have it land just in front and left of the basket and let it slide in, or simply stick with the slightly longer grass. It could also stand up in the same way you describe, but with correct speed control, it should stick the vast majority of time, making it a touch shot that pros should be able to execute.

    • @spoonraker
      @spoonraker Рік тому +3

      Completely disagree. Yes it's a score separator, but the separation is driven from randomness not skill. That's not the kind of score separation anyone wants. Nobody, even the pros, is good enough to avoid rolling away on that green reliably. Even a layup from 50 feet could roll away randomly if the disc happened to catch an edge on a pinecone or a a hole in the ground or a weird gust of wind gets under the disc or something like that.
      If they want to bring a rollaway risk into play I'm fine with that, but they should bring it into play by making you choose to either play short or throw up the hill. For example, put the basket on top where it's flat so players could decide to be aggressive from distance and risk landing on the hill and rolling away or playing short and safe.

    I've been in a similar journey to you in that I am working on throwing a lot recently. But for me I believe I'm less focused on putting now. You might take a minute to think if something similar is happening to you. You're such a great putter that it's weird to see you miss so many in the way you do. • @BodanzaDiscGolf
      @BodanzaDiscGolf  Рік тому +1

      I think it will be, this is still a temp layout at this golf course and they wanted to run a bigger tournament before worlds to finalize things, so they likely didn't want to install nice teepads just to have to move some. So it was specified with paint on most teepads that you could tee off beside them for this event. I hope that's not the case for worlds!

  • @prestonparker7321
    @prestonparker7321 10 місяців тому

    You're dealing with a common problem when it comes to putting, and that is subconsciously you're afraid to drill it in there because you're afraid that if you miss the basket you're going to be further away from where you were putting from. Do this, at the practice basket start putting from close, I mean like five feet close, do about five or six putts all around the basket, once you've made all them step back a few feet and repeat. Then once you get to circle one or further, whenever you miss or airball, putt from where you missed from, that way you'll know that you can make the comeback putt. Doing this will keep you from being hesitant on your putts, and then you can just drill them in because you'll know you can make the come backer. This will fix your putting problems.

    I think the course doesn’t need to be tweaked just more defined ob for the camera but everything else about this course is amazing it has Ton of score separation and I love that this is gonna be worlds not just an a tier so the best in the world should be able to come to this course and play golf knowing there are really hard greens and it punishes you for bad throws. I know that’s weird in todays game but if you just throw and not care about where you land then you won’t score well on this course

    Depending on position, couldn’t you throw a floaty soft flex at that green so it sits down easy or would that also roll like hell?
    One of my favorite shots for hills is that soft flex so the disc lands pretty flat with minimal ground play.

    • @BodanzaDiscGolf
      @BodanzaDiscGolf  Рік тому +1

      it's tough because it COULD, and I know the final putt was only on screen for a sec, but if you look at the green there's no consistent ground on it. If one part was rocky and one was lush so you knew you had to land it there to get consistent action, that'd be great, but the rockiness combined with the grade and tight ob makes it play a little flukey as it is right now

    Fertilize the tree?... That.. doesnt seem very kosher O_o
    However, the green on hole 14 is great. Should be smoother, in a perfect world, but the green itself, thumbs up. Takes superb angle control to have it stick, and a miss there is heavily penalized. There shouldnt be more than two such greens on a 18 hole stretch, but that type of green is really a good thing imo. Spiking something into the hillside is not always the best answer, matching the hills angle is a better option at times.
    And the tee signs (not sure what its called in english, not the sign of the hole itself, but the smaller ones to show where you play from on the tee) on the hole after are super easy to remove. Golf courses change the tee placement a few times each week.

    • @BodanzaDiscGolf
      @BodanzaDiscGolf  Рік тому +1

      definitely like the green concept but it's too rocky to have something stick consistently even if you match the grade of the hill well, because the hill is rocks and not really even a consistent grade. If they got in there and tilled it out it'd be an awesome hole!

      @@BodanzaDiscGolf my thoughts exactly. And I guess the video seldom is "true to reality". Quite often it looks better than reality is. Hills looks less steep, uneven surface looks decent when in reality it probably is quite bad.
      But, as a concept, it's great. I love courses that punishes you. You might get an awful score, but at least the course itself was great fun to play :P

    TD’s need to stop letting people tee-off from the side of the tees in perfect conditions. The tees are there for a reason… it erodes the teeing area and ends up making the pad sag prematurely

      yeah on this course and some others, the teeing area is stretched by rule of the TD.
