The rules state: The first player who completes a goal can choose to reshuffle the 81 Construction cards and deal three new stacks of cards as in game setup. Meaning you cant reshuffle every time someone reaches the goal, only first time someone does.
I was questioning that. That would be interesting if you could do that on a block. I don't see what that couldn't be done. At any rate, we've played it as is.
Oops, just listened ahead...59:25 Aaron says you can complete a contract and then chop up the estate after. That's not so...once an estate is scored for a city plan, it may not be further subdivided.
30:45 The answer to the question is yes, if multiple people complete a city plan on the same turn, they both get the points. Also note, that when the city plan is completed, the player(s) who did that MAY decide at that time to reshuffle all the cards and reset them. Otherwise, that only happens when the decks run out. (Edit: that was noted when the 2nd plan was completed) (Edit #2: I went down a bit of a rabbit hole double checking the rules, and found 2 rules clarifications on BGG directly from the designer...#1 You may only choose to reshuffle after the first player completes the first city plan, not subsequent ones. After the first, you only reshuffle if you run the decks out. Sorry Aaron at 40:55. #2 You do get to cross off a use of the temp agency even if you don't change your number. You did that correctly, but I did not initially think it worked that way. I'm still not sure why you get it if you don't use it, but that's the rule.)
@@TorSverre They altered the instructions in the recent printing to say that. (Mine didn't say that) That was to clarify the intention that you get to check it off. But thematically it makes no sense because adding 0 is really not "using" the power. You do that with every other power on every turn. They're giving you some credit for foregoing the other powers, basically.
I have to say that you are the most lovable bunch of people!! I like how you help each other and you play for the love of the game and not for the win. I absolute love the game explanations of Dave. Congratulations for your awesome work and for your kindness!
I have watched a few How To play videos on this game and still have one remaining question. Supposedly 100 people can play but it doesn't come with enough City Plans for that. A quick search seemed like the expansion plans are just different themes do they include more city plans?
Yeah, looks like his bottom street was estates of size 2, 1, 3, and 6 (left to right, from our perspective). Maybe he confused the 6 for a 5, or mistakenly thought the rule was that they must be at least as big as the stated size.
One rule I'm not sure was clear from the video is that house numbers don't have to be sequential. Yes, they have to be in ascending order from left to right, but you are allowed to skip numbers.
Still love these videos. But this is one of the worst rules understandings/asterisks. Always must be ascending order. Round-abouts is an alternate rule that may be decided as a group to be used or not (we still have never played with round-abouts). You cannot split-up an estate that is already part of an objective. I doubt they ever shoot a game a second time, but considering how potentially long ago this video was shot, I assume they know the correct rules today already lol.
Hey guys! Massive fan of GameNight for many years now. I think I'd rather you take a hiatus than showing these sub-par shows. Especially of games from years ago. Keep the quality rather than quantity! Your true fans will understand!
If you watch a few of their Twitch streams they've posted on here over the last few months, they recorded way, way, way more before the pandemic hit because Lincoln was going to be doing so many conventions, I think he said 11 or 12, this year. So, they had a lot more banked episodes than usual, but they're almost out now. So, this isn't from years ago, just from Dec.-Feb. They record a ton of episodes over several days. Rodney Smith has said he's flown in for a weekend, and you count up the games he's in and get like 10.
Besides, they have played this game several times on live streams already since then (I bet this was recorded before Dave moved to SF), and they have the rules cleared out. Regarding how old the game is - this is a French game, so the odds are it came to the US quite later than in Europe. I’ve seen it happen with a lot of European games, they take at least a year to arrive in the US if they come from a small designer. Besides, they air one show a week, you always have to choose among the hundreds, if not thousands of new games that are published every year, so some games will always get overlooked. Now, some of these lovely people do explain rules better than others, but the goal here is to have fun. It is always more difficult to explain rules when you are on camera, so please don’t judge. I do recommend using outlines, though - just a short list with the rules you want to elaborate on, it doesn’t need to be a script - it makes a big difference and helps a lot.
@@zhivik I'm wondering if the OP was thinking of the Vegas game that is almost exactly the same game with just the special abilities being different. I don't remember seeing them play this game on any of the streams they've posted to YT (can't watch Twitch for some reason). And Nikki is fine, but she does say "Ummm.." a lot which drives some people nuts (my Dad hates that when watching the news for instance). I think she does a good enough job though I wish they'd work with Rodney on preparing a script as it would be less stressful for the person doing the rules explanation since he does an exceptional job on his channel.
@@scottsmartky Maybe, I have no way to tell. I remember they played this version at least twice on streams, but I haven't checked the UA-cam videos, I follow them only on Twitch. Regarding a script, it has its pros and cons. Here is a great video that describes the three distinct approaches: ua-cam.com/video/_o9GXTjl740/v-deo.html What they currently do is winging it, which has its charm, but some people are better at it than others (like Dave, Rodney or Aaron, for instance). I personally prefer having an outline, it's essentially talking points - it helps you stay on track and not make mistakes and at the same time keeps things natural. A script is nice to reduce pressure, but it sounds artificial at times.

The Fantastic Four are back. I like Aaron as he is prepared to be a little more critical about games than the others
One of my favorites... but just to note, 9:10,...Numbers must increase left to right, they may NOT decrease left to right.
I was questioning that. That would be interesting if you could do that on a block. I don't see what that couldn't be done. At any rate, we've played it as is.
That caught me off guard too, so I looked up the rules. At least in my edition, you're absolutely correct -- they MUST be in ascending order.
@@Fighterfan69 It would "mess up" the pools, but apart from that no real effect.
Aaron!!! More Aaron more often! This is like OG game night.
Played along with this and ended up with 96 (11 + 24 + 13 + 7 + 42 - 1)
Oops, just listened ahead...59:25 Aaron says you can complete a contract and then chop up the estate after. That's not so...once an estate is scored for a city plan, it may not be further subdivided.
Yea, that's why you should build a back fence to remind you they were counted towards a contract and cannot be split or go towards another contract.
I'm playing along with you guys and I scored 93, just a point in front of Lincoln 😁
Wooooooo Aaron! And a great game too! Excellent addition to a rainy Thursday. 😁

You use it. You can add -2, -1, 0, 1 or 2. At least that's what my rules say.

They really need the rule telling up to Dave. No offense Nick but it's Dave's forte.
A Moxy Früvous refrence always makes for a fun Game Night! ;-)
Thanks for this! I love playing along with ya'll. Even after the fact it's still lots of fun!
I played along and got 90 for my score. This game is fun and its cool that there are different variations of it.
Great episode with the OG crew!
It helps so much to actually watch someone play the game. But wish I could see the score cards closer..

Whoa! Their videos are usually very good but they got a lot of rules wrong in this one.
37:10 Lincoln claims City Plan 3, but that requires completion of 3 estates, a size 2, 3 and 5. I don't see those completed on the sheet.

you right
15:14 I'm pretty sure that's a slight editing error right there, Niki.. but that's no worries at all
Played along but got a disappointing 84, maybe my lowest score so far! :)
We played this a bunch back in April and May over Zoom. We played that you can only have your blocks increase from left to right. Did we play wrong?
No, that is actually the right rule. You played correctly.

and round-abouts came with 2 fence at each side
17:20 what a weird conversation
Six can play at that game.
the limitation of player is the number of sheet you have
