i have been on a good few cruises now with P&O and i love them always get the best for my money. i never get a drinks package at all i just pay as i go. love the black tie events. you are right you just dress smart thats all. i have seen some fantastic outfit for the black tie night. loved the food to
I totally agree a about the dress code on "black tie" (celebration nights). Other guests on Iona earlier in the year didn't make feel uncomfortable because I didn't pack a tie but one member of staff did refuse to serve me after 6pm because I had a smart shirt on with an open collar. I went to one of the more casual bars instead but it was a shame because I was really looking forward to hearing a live pianist. I'll put a tie in my suitcase before going on Ventura over Christmas. Just please don't wear speedos with a beer gut and man boobs on display in bars or dining areas. The value for money thing, you are absolutely right if you are travelling as a couple or a family. As a solo traveller like myself, the single supplements are extortionate and people travelling alone effectively have to pay for an extra invisible guest who isn't even onboard.
We're looking at going on Ventura with our 2 children, 10 and 6. I'm worried it will be too dated for us. But price wise it's brilliant! When did you go? And what ports? I'm worried the weather might be rubbish and the sea might be rocky. Thanks for your review they are helpful!
Tbf tho it racks up a lot more than 599 , if you add drinks packages , internet package , upgrade cabins ……. Ps I love haven holidays too , this will be instead of haven this year , bit fed up of English weather tho now .
I agree regarding the dress code. I used to work as an Officer with P&O and although I loved getting dressed up for formal night, I didn’t like how it was enforced. Dressing up is nice, but it should be optional. I agree it probably puts some younger people off cruising!
Thanks for your review! I’m so tempted to do my first solo cruise and thinking of booking the Ventura. I do say it will be solo however I will have my toddler twins with me so will be solo parenting. What did you think of the family kids club areas? Also might be a silly question - but do you think a small double pram would fit in the walk ways leading to rooms/cabins etc! Thanks again for your review. Have subscribed!
Virgin Voyages does this amazingly, dress in what makes you feel good, no one is judged, go wear what you want. It’s insane that people get so upset about it who cares !
Azura we had raw sewage come up thru the shower drain, a stinky sock under the bed. most of the week no water in the bathroom. every day had to report plumbing problems and scalding hot water coming from the cold tap when there was running water.Food was bland, nothing seasoned. other E deck mid ship cabins also had problems. Gala nights, guys were being refused or asked to leave when at the table for taking off their suit jackets BUT infront of us was a gut wearing flip flops, cut off shorts and a hoodie built like a brick shit house and he was let in!! Yes axe the dress code.
I thought the Ventura was pretty good for cleanliness. I thought Britannia was unclean. I did like Ventura my favourite ship so far . Customer service wasn’t great for us ,neither was the captain , but the MDR staff were excellent. Entertainment wise it was okay but not the standard it once was. I do agree P&O offer good value for money, and we have had some great cruises with P&O . Just a few things they need to improve.
Got to chip in on p&o dress code, my partner and I got chucked out of the Arvia main dinning room on formal night (we wore smart shirts and a short sleeve shirt) and we still don’t know why they did this. They told us we weren’t properly dressed and made us feel really uncomfortable that we had to leave
Dress code: Their dress code is clear. They dont have Formal every night but when they do it is not black tie, it is smart. I don't think your advice of 'wear what you like' is valid. But I do think your advice of follow their guidelines is perfect. FWIW I wear full black tie but would not turn my nose up that those who do, nor would I want to see anyone wearing short sleeves as part of their formal wear turned away. That is 'code adjacent' and we are all on holiday afterall. But Jeans, T-Shirts even Polos are not. If that is how you enjoy your hols GREAT for the majority of the nights I'll join you but on Formal nights You need to stick to the bars and buffet suggested. Not to be judged, just so you can relax.
I appreciate your thoughts on the dress code! It's great to hear different perspectives, especially when it comes to finding a balance between comfort and style during vacations.
@@DannyDalimore Very true. Interestingly enough I think P&O have branding within their branding: Azura and Ventura are smaller, older and much more 'Cunard on a budget' Largely appealing to an older middle/aged clientele but also to Families who are sensible with their holiday budgets (For which, BTW, I salute and I *was* you back in the day.) The newer, bigger boats are the more in the vein of looking forward and minimalising formality and Brittania flip flops between the two depending on itinerary. Good that we can share views and agree on the important point: Holidays are for sharing and enjoying together not conflict, confrontation and self entitlement. Here's to the next one!
Ventura was the worst customer service experience we had on any ship. Waited ages for drinks coffee every day Terrible dining room menu. Never again P&O.
One night a week in less than half of the eating establishments you are asked to dress a bit more formally, if that is a bit too much for you and you feel the need to throw a hissy fit i would suggest you need to grow up a little bit.

Ha laughed at the democracy bit. Been debating which cruise to try for a while and this helped. Thank you so much!
What am I like! Thanks so much for watching! I so glad that it helped xxxx

While we were on board in August they were painting her. Shes old but a loving ship.
10000000% agree! Such a lush ship xxxx
You want to try Cunard for the dress code and passenger opinions. Cheaper the cruise too seems to be more opinions!
I have heard Cunard are strict with dress code xxxx
Love the Vlogs you just make everyone smile. Ohhhh can you tell me how you got the fireplace on the TV?
Thanks so much, this is so kind and it’s just a UA-cam video you can search xxxx

@@DannyDalimore the quality of caravans isn’t as great for your money now either since they altered the grading system and condensed it .

B*****ks to any enforced formal wear. I’d never do that. It’s a holiday.

@@DannyDalimore thanks for getting back to me. We have booked for May now looking to book for October. 🌞🤗

Not an up to date reflection on the trip - travelled April 23 video out Jan 24. Lots of verbal and hand waving not enough visuals.
Lol

As a Formal dress enthusiast. This seems grossly unfair. Sad to hear this.
Totally agree on the dress codes- can't understand why people bothered by what other people wear. Would like to hear your opinion of the buffet.

I agree get rid of the dress code we are in the 21st century…

Waiting ages happens for everyone not just you when you have 4000 people in a 300m radius its gonna get crouded
@@LewisAdams-l9b we didn’t have this experience on Royal Carribean and Carnival.
I think the overall reviews for this ship of late are so bad I’ll skip the booking I was about to make.
I had a v good experience on Ventura in 2022, but I easily like Aurora as my favourite ship in the P & O fleet ,followed by Arcadia
Just got back from 3 weeks on Aurora great staff terrible buffet food
Novovirus :)
