HB Toys Wilderness R1001 - Quick Thoughts

- HB Toys Wilderness Beluga R1001 first impressions and quick thoughts/ review of the RC crawler. I'm not sure if it is a Traxxas TRX4 clone as I have never owned a TRX4 but for the price of the trail truck I felt it was worth the risk. Already ran into some issues with the trail truck but those can be fixed and my goal is to make this truck into a competent RC rock crawler. I'm joined on the trail by Duane in this Element Enduro12.

Good news! After letting the receiver sit for two days, it works again!
RC J22 😮😮
RC J22
Super cool video, mine should be here in a couple of days...
Thanks, I appreciate it! Hope you enjoy it!
Although this RC may perform less, the appearance is cool. It is also good that there is something for every budget. Nice RC entry-level that indeed looks like a TRX4. Nice RC to have in the collection and to participate in RC trails. Perhaps with some minor adjustments it will also perform better. But I certainly don't find it that disappointing from what I see in the video. Just a good looking RC car. Nice environment where you took outdoor shots. 🆒🎦👌👍 Greetings Jos 👋🍀
I agree for the most part, even if you do basic upgrades it will still come in pretty inexpensive
RC J22 😮😢🎉
i like that enduro12 better than the beluga. do you have any size comparison footage for that enduro12 and beluga?
This video is probably the closest I have. There are also shots of the Enduro12 alongside the R1011
Nice Review of a very good (for the price) rc whit lots of cool specs and great for learn and up-graded by cheap (now the new one in Jeep Wrangler are ate a very nice price to)
Thanks, Panda! I have the new one also, will be doing some videos on that too!
WoW!
Looking forward to watch ❤
Can you fit another body on this?
I'm not entirely sure, it is a standard 313mm wheelbase. Theoretically you can remove the clips from this body and mount them to another shell so it clips right in. Did you have a specific body in mind?
Got one yesterday for $156 shipped, always wanted the trx4 but didnt feel like paying the $500 for an rtr. Exactly, Beluga?! Lol Will be getting some Bronco decals.
$156 is a fantastic deal. The 3d printed Bronco grill I got from RC4WD, same with the Ford badge for the rear.
Bummer about the ESC , but kinda cool if not for that , I like the Enduro 12 too , steel wheels and trim off the body flares will make a night and day difference on it , a little weight up front does wonders for it 😊
There a lot of things that can be done to make this truck a great trailer for sure
@@YARCWest definitely would work on both , but almost a must do for the Enduro 12
Yeah I doubt Duane is going to do any body trimming lol
Good news! After letting the receiver sit for two days, it works again!
@@YARCWest that's good
Really cool video man! I appreciate the mention as well!
I really like my HB toys Beluga Bronco. I haven’t found the servo to be weak at all where I’ve taken mine. Perhaps Maybe on a super technical rock course it may show its lack of torque while turning, but through all the rocks, ruts , roots, snow and mud I’ve taken it in it’s performed well for me. (Knock on wood)😋 I have lost the front and rear lights from time to time after going in deeper water, but after a thorough drying they always come back on. To bad about your receiver, that sucks. The 1060 esc that comes with this stock is decent enough, but like you, I would at some point opt for the 1080. I think for all you get and as capable as it is, it’s well worth the $235-$250 price tag with out having to make really any concessions. Just my opinion.
Love the excursion you and your buddy went on with these rigs. That blue truck was it a element Enduro 12? I love those things and have plans to get one some time this year. Great truck, great job on your review bro! 👍🏻
Thanks for checking it out! I definitely think this truck is a very good starting point and upgrading it to be a monster won't actually cost too much. I'm going to try the receiver again in a day or two and see if it fixes it self. Yeah the blue truck is the Enduro12, I love that they have released a bunch of different bodies for them too.
Good news! After letting the receiver sit for two days, it works again!
@@YARCWest Great to hear buddy! These receivers must not be fully waterproof. Maybe only splash 💦 proof with a light conformal coating. I’ve had my tires fully submersed with no issues as of yet.
Maybe another coat of coating or a dip in plasti dip will be needed. Glad to hear it came back to life though. Have a great weekend dude!👊🏼😎
Muito bacana a sua explanação sobre esse modelo. Irei comprar o meu HB 1001 em julho, e você me ajudou a decidir isso. Obrigado.
friend, do you know how to answer if a 4000mah battery with 134mm fits in the battery compartment? And how long does the original 300mah battery last? Thank you for your response.
I’ll measure it and let you know. A normal sized stick pack will bulge out the sides a bit. The stock battery lasts about 30 minutes, it will last longer if you’re slow trailing and not going full speed.
@@YARCWestthanks, bro.
47x140mm fits perfectly
@@YARCWest👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻…thanks, bro.
The YA RC sticker on the stand looks so cool :o
Great presentation as always, keep it up!
Thanks a ton!
Welcome to the club. And thanks for mentioning. Have fun with this rig. And as you said pretty close to the TRX4, you can get lots of upgrades. The first you alredy had done👍. Althought your receiver failed.
Yeah the receiver failing was a bit disappointing, I'm just not sure how I'm going to hook the lights up now. I had already planned on the other upgrades so not a big deal there.
Good news! After letting the receiver sit for two days, it works again!
@@YARCWest cool. At least you had another solution. And if it wasn't for the light functions like indicators, reverse and breaking, the other would do it too. But I understand the annoying fact of getting something new broken
All good! That's part of RC lol I'm switch back to the default receiver
@@YARCWestvocê já pensou usar impermeabilizante spray?
Cool video series, also own the Beluga in Red. Upgraded wheels and tires and exactly the same servo. Also greased everything just as you did. Overall Ithink it's still a no brainer for the price. This weekend I will attempt to waterproof the receiver using some MG Chemicals 422B silicone coat. I wonder how that will turn out. Did not really need to replace the ESC and Receiver yet, I guess I will not crawl with it too heavily. But good idea to consider. I was thinking of replacing the drive shafts, but I know a few longer term owners of the truck and it seems they hold pretty well.
I agree 100%, definitely worth the price so far. Let me know how water proofing goes, I shorted it out again haha
@@YARCWest thanks, I will update. Everybody loves to cross streams with their crawlers, but I am well aware that the r1001 beluga is Not waterproof. The newer one is claimed to be waterproof. You can test it out in your next video perhaps ;)
So you made me curious and I pulled it out and checked it over. To me, there is no discernable difference between the R1001 and R1011 receiver. I'll test it for sure, but at the end haha
@@YARCWest hi, it seems that waterproofing using the MG chemicals works well. I applied 3 layers and so far no water damage. Just use in a well vented room when applying and leave it for at least 15 minutes to dry between applying the layers.
Thanks! I’m 100% doing this
Nice little truck! Almost lost the little blue truck in the water! Thanks for sharing!
Haha yeah almost got swept away
Hell yeah brother!! Love it keep it coming!
Thank, dude!
Nice run anyway, and good info 👍
The Enduro12 was killing it!
