    Thanks for the video, love the realistic profile and relative ease of tying. Moreover, they have been productive for me. Added benefit, I tied a few on just a hook shank (cut off the hook at the barb) and planted them around the house and watched the sparks fly when I informed my wife that we must have a mouse infestation as I have seen mouse droppings. Guess I know what will NOT be happening in our conjugal relationship. Thanks again.

    Nice Patterns..Never fished a mouse but hear it's allot of fun and very productive for large Brown Trout at night...Thanks...

      I'm new to mouse fishing too... although I've tied a lot of them. Went out last weekend and fished from 12am to a little after 2am and got skunked.

      I hear its about the strike...Big Browns will hit the mouse 2 or 3 times before taking it and running...This is what my friends who are productive tell me...They compare it to fishing a rubber worm for Bass...Dont strike until the line goes tight...

    May I make a suggestion, before you whip finish add a coat of head cement to your thread then whip finish. This way you get the cement down where you need it. Your way it just sits on top and it really doesn't hold anything. Best regards Richard Katzman Fly Tying

    • @CJFishNutz
      @CJFishNutz  8 років тому

      That is a great suggestion Richard... I'll use it every time I use head cement. Thanks much!

      I will add that a nice sized drop of head cement at the base of each hair bunch will add durability of your mouse or any hair bug.

    I like the trimming over the box! I just trim mine at the vice and get crap all over the place :/ Pattern looks killer though.
    Take care,

    Takes an entire deer to make a mouse. LOL. The cuties looking lure in my fly box.

    Spinning deer hair is not something I've ever tried, as it always looks like a test of patience and this pattern is no exception, but the end product or finished mice turned out awesome. Nice job and hope you report back on how the trip for nocturnal browns went.

      Thanks for the kudos... I like the pattern a lot and they float like a cork for a very long time. My buddy Steve and I tried them that weekend until about 2am without so much as a look. I'll keep them in my box for sure and one day...

    You would really "spin" that hair if you didn't put thread on the hook. I like the look of the mouse but you are flaring hair not spinning it. It should spin around the hook and cover the bottom as much as the top. I am happy you have a lot of hair. The belly hair is better for spinning. All the best and thanks for sharing. Sean

      Good point... keep the slick surface to get it to move around the shank. I'll give it a 'whirl'!

    great tie! The hook is too small though. It's going to be much tougher getting a hookset on a larger fish, on that small of a gap. =) just an FYI.

      @CJFishNutz  7 років тому

      IntoTheWildFF... thanks for watching. You make a good point, I definitely need to find a wider gap with all of that compressed hair.

    Your hooks haven't got a big enough gape try using a razor blade and trimming the under side of the mouse flat

    why are markers based with alcohol an advantage, please?

    • @CJFishNutz
      @CJFishNutz  6 років тому

      Alcohol markers penetrate the surface and are permanent and mostly waterproof. They are expensive but worth it...

      Hi Jaden! Check out a video called "Eastern Rises". Very large trout of all types will feed on mice. There are lots of photos online of trout whose bellies were FULL of mice. I haven't personally had luck catching them on mouse patterns but I'm going to keep on trying!
