The best way to clean your grates is to not let them get dirty in the first place. Clean them this way after every cook and they will stay looking good for a long time. I just bought a used Weber Kettle that was filthy. The people didn’t know how to clean it, or that you was supposed to clean it. They just kept cooking on it until it was too filthy to use. By filthy I mean, caked up with old grease. It took me a while to clean it, but it came out almost like new. I almost gave up on the grate, but, I eventually got the grate clean using some of these pads, and a bunch of elbow grease.

Thanks Mr. Jones. I just got a grill for Father’s Day and cooked up some burgers for 4th of July. Good came out great but now I gotta do all the cleaning. There’s a lot of burnt oil, grease and food on the grates so I hope those pads can take care of it. Thanks for the info and I’ll keep you posted.

Well first of congrats on the new pit and Happy late Father's Day! Second I'm pretty confident these scub pads will do ya justice. Ever since I discovered these things, they're all I use now. I have a SS wireless scrub brush, and I never use it because it doesn't clean with the efficiency as these little ones. Please do let me know.
Also I use a little water in a spritz bottle to help as well.

@@ShenanigansWithMrJones thanks! I ordered a 12-pack from Amazon which should be arriving today. They're not the Scotch-Brite brand but they're stainless steel scrubbers nonetheless. Gonna put in some work tonight! =D

Shenanigans With Mr. Jones WOW! Just wanted to let you know those SS scrubbers worked like a charm! It definitely took some commitment, but with a little bowl of soapy water to dip the scrubbers in, I went to work and the grates came out as good as new! Thanks for the tip, that was some great advice!

Thanks Mr Jones, Scrubbed mine today twice and Scotchbrite pad did ok, but went looking for an easier way. Just ordered some, can't wait to see how much easier it is.

Awesome man how'd it work out for you? I used to use the old tride and true bristle brush, but more and more people are dealing with bristles breaking off and ending up in food and there so embedded in gums requiring surgery to get it rectified. That whole thought and idea really pushed me away from those style brushes. What do you think?

@@ShenanigansWithMrJones It worked great, made the grates look new again. Also took the advice of Weber to oil the food not the grill. Thanks again for posting.

Am I the only one that noticed how nice his fence is behind the grill?

It’s the small details that really matter. Remember that!

Good information. I just wanted to tell you that the first part of your video was really hard to hear with the wind blowing. I've had quite a bit of experience with microphones, so if you want to cut down or sometimes completely get rid of wind noise, plus be able to hear your voice better, get yourself a small microphone that you can plug into your phone or camera "if you have a small input for that". Then, what you need is what they call a "dead cat". All that is, is a small cover you can buy online that kind of looks like a hairy ball, that fits over your mike. I think you could do this rather cheaply. After that, clip the mike on the collar of your tee-shirt or as close to your mouth as you can. You won't believe what a better sound you'll get. The best way to do all this is to buy a wireless mike system, but that's more money. Hope this helps. Marc

How long did it talk you to clean that? Do you do that every time you cook?

    • @ShenanigansWithMrJones

Maybe 3 minutes and yes I do. I started using a stainless steel coil brush, but that doesn't do well at all. That's when I found these. It does suck that they aren't reusable, but it does an awesome job at cleaning grates.
