What a great idea in using up all the parts of discarded jeans. How did you manage to sew through the loop layers? I would have been tugging those loops up and out of the way. Another question....as a safety precaution against broken needles ....do you wear glasses?
Hello, I'm not sure if I answered your question correctly.
First question: I chose to use the hem of jeans at the side seam. I cut out the thick seam inside. So I can easily sew with Elvira's automatic sewing machine.
Second question: I don't wear safety glasses. But I'm afraid too. If you can wear it while sewing it's good protection. I think it's a very good idea.

I love the bag! Do you use 1/2 inch seams everywhere except when installing the zippers?
I sewed with a 1/4 inch seam, not 1/2 inch. The same goes for the zipper.

I tried to make a rug from seams and hems, the result was so warped and curved I couldn’t use it . Your work so no similar issues, do you think it had anything to do with the lengths I sewed together? Also could you tell me how you inserted the little cross pieces on the outside of your bag?
