THE AFRO PICK! That is what we call the metal comb here in the States. Still use it! We had ones where the handle folded over the teeth for easy carrying. The colors were red, black, and green, symbolizing Black liberation. Other combs had a fist on the end of the handle, symbolizing Black power. This was the 70's.

We had Afro picks that were electric. It had a wire attached to the comb for you to plug into a socket as part of your Blow Out kit to create a massive afro with.

Very creative! Thank you for sharing. You should look up the type of hot combs African Americans used to use. If you make the metal pieces closer to each other they will get the hair straighter on each pass. You need to section the hair in small sections and then run the hot comb through each section. This is used to be very common in Black American houses and it gets the hair very straight. Also, the hot comb was placed directly on the stove. The smaller metal pieces and sectioned hair will make a big difference.

Because i can see where this metjod would go faster if i just wanted a blow out instead of using a hair dryer or straitening comb for a press its much quicker... i hope this answers your question

I grew up giving my hair egg, banana or mayonnaise treatments. Sitting under a shower cap for 30 minutes. My hair would be full, shiny, bouncy & thick & strong. I’d follow that with Ultra Sheen oil based shampoo & a conditioner, blow dry it & hot comb it. Every few weeks I would give my hair a hot oil treatment as well with a shower cap on my hair. So watching this, reminded me of that.
I forget what you called the little stove, but here in Detroit, this would be the equivalent of the mini stoves that stylists would use to put their hot combs & Marcel curling irons in to heat them up to press & curl hair.
Your hair is healthy & strong Sista. If I could I would send your sister hot combs, Bobby pins, & wide tooth combs for her salon & chairs for her & her customers.
God bless you both & also your village with more love, peace, protection & endless abundance! I enjoyed watching this video.
