THE AFRO PICK! That is what we call the metal comb here in the States. Still use it! We had ones where the handle folded over the teeth for easy carrying. The colors were red, black, and green, symbolizing Black liberation. Other combs had a fist on the end of the handle, symbolizing Black power. This was the 70's.
We had Afro picks that were electric. It had a wire attached to the comb for you to plug into a socket as part of your Blow Out kit to create a massive afro with.

Very creative! Thank you for sharing. You should look up the type of hot combs African Americans used to use. If you make the metal pieces closer to each other they will get the hair straighter on each pass. You need to section the hair in small sections and then run the hot comb through each section. This is used to be very common in Black American houses and it gets the hair very straight. Also, the hot comb was placed directly on the stove. The smaller metal pieces and sectioned hair will make a big difference.
