Man I’m jealous. I was just 14 when Freddie died. I was heartbroken. My mom had me listening to queen from birth. I really wish I had a chance to see them live.
Sure, Freddie was insane, he was outstanding, but can we just take a minute and appreciate Roger singing a duet with Freddie while he was on the drums? And what a bloody good job he did at both?
Totally agree, Roger worked his arse off backing Freddie on vocals & drumming his heart out - not easy. Such a talented man as are Brian & Deacon too. They all came together wonderfully to produce the special sound of Queen. All 4 members made such a fantastic band♥️
Freddie singing and the audience singing it back is something he did at all his live concerts. Playing with the audience was something he enjoyed. That's his thing and the half mic stand. The beat was stolen by Vanilla Ice and he got sued for it. John Deacon(Deaky) wrote this one and killed it on the bass like he always does Queen doesn't have any bad songs. Thank you so much for doing a Queen reaction. Now I can walk through my day happy
Deaky's girl So sad that Freddie died so young and yet he and The other three bandmembers were geniuses. He was like in a typical rock performer and somewhat promiscuous and rowdy, but even in his death God used Freddie to help raise money and more awareness for HIV and AIDS so that there would be better testing and more treatment. It’s amazing to think that for years after Freddie Mercury‘s death, medication had been invented by 1995 to enable people to live a fairly normal life span. All of the band members were hurt and devastated, but I really think that John Deacon took it the hardest. Watching the tribute concert in April 1992, John Deacon was not himself and I don’t know if he smiled the entire concert. He performed for Freddie and everybody paying tribute to the life of Freddie. There was something special about John Deacon when he was the sixth or seventh bass player to audition and play with Queen & he was the one they chose for the long-haul. Freddie Mercury said in an interview in the mid-1980s that John was the best bass player they had but he also fit in with the rest of the boys. Freddie said that the success of Queen Was because even though they were one band with for equal parts that even their albums were was because even though they were one band with four equal parts that even their albums consisted of four different song riders doing their own things. Each band member did something separate from Queen, but they didn’t really have to and none of their stuff independently of the band was as good as what they did together. They were magical together! Night at the opera, for example, had Bohemian Rhapsody written by Freddie Mercury but performed by all. You’re my best friend, which was written by John Deacon and performed by all. I’m in love with my car- Roger Taylor and performed by all & Brian May had his own work as well in the albums.. so in essence even though the albums were Queen, Open till they did the last two or three albums, each member wrote separate songs and got credits and royalties from that. It did lead to a lot of fighting in the band but even Freddie Mercury said that all four members were strong individuals and only the Strong could survive in that band and that’s why John Deacon made it & he was only 20 when he joined the group. John was the baby of the group.. but good!! Love them all!!
@@montereyharris1277 there are days I still have a hard time listening to Freddie because he was gone way to soon and I miss him like I knew him. John is a remarkably strong, fiercely loyal, loving and caring man which is why I am Deaky's girl. I know he took Freddy's death very hard and I believe he still misses him today. Queen was the four of them and I miss it badly. Half of Queen with Adam Lambert just isn't right.
@@montereyharris1277 - John was only 19 when he joined the band and preceded by two or three other bassists. They said he was the best plus he was quiet and wouldn't clash with the other three self professed "egomaniacs" or take attention away from them. Once he was comfortable in the band though, Brian said he could tear them to pieces with his sharp tongue and that he was very smart and level headed. Having a degree in Electrical Engineering, he built the "Deacy" amp (now patented and sold by Brian) that gave Brian (and hence Queen) it's iconic guitar sound so he was a MAJOR factor in their success. He also helped as their sound tech early on when they couldn't afford crew. Freddie was oldest and took John under his wing as a sort of big brother because John was so shy. John lost his own father when he was only a child and ironically at the same age that Freddy died so that might be one reason why John took his death so hard, as did they all. Freddie also insisted on John's songs getting recorded because Brian and Roger often thought they were more pop/soul than rock and didn't always like them, but several of their biggest hits were John's songs and Freddie said he loved them because they were singer's songs. When Freddie died John would likely lose status in the band without his mentor. He thought Queen was going to be "A weekend job making a few extra quid" and never intended to be a rock star and avoided the spotlight. I saw them live and was riveted watching John. He was in his own little world, dancing around, the anchor/heartbeat of the band musically, steady as a metronome in lock step with Roger as a great rhythm section and very melodic in his bass playing. Stuff like Millionaire Waltz is a master class! I think some of Queen's best songs were by John...I want to Break Free, One Year of Love (beautiful), Need your Loving tonight (a fave), Misfire, In only 7 days, Another one Bites the dust (number one in rock, soul, black and disco charts across all genres), My life has been saved, Back Chat, You're my best Friend (played piano), If you can't beat them, You and I, Spread your Wings, Who Needs You (he played guitar on that - there's a great version on You Tube....Queen - Who Needs You acoustic take) and co wrote with Freddie, Cool Cat (he played all the instruments, no Brian or Roger), Friend will be Friends, Don't try so hard, Rain must fall, etc. He was easily a full quarter of the band and a vital factor in their success. In many ways, I agree with him when he said no Freddie, no Queen. He was loyal. He gave fans 25 years of his life and made the right decision for him and his family. Of course Brian and Roger also wrote many gems. The fact that all four were unique personalities and had different tastes often led to fights but that's what made them so bloody good!
Deaky's girl I agree with you 100% and I think we are on the same level as far as Queen fans & lovers of the band. John Deacon was always the Darkhorse of the band because he was younger and quiet but so darn good on the base. Yet he would come up with these incredible songs out of nowhere. “ you’re my best friend”” another one bites the dust”” I want to break free”.. they all are amazing and I always said they were the fabulous 4. It’s nice that Roger and Brian still tour and play but it’s only half of the band. I never considered Paul Rogers or Adam Lambert members of the band but just people that play with them so the two remaining members can have some fun. Freddie’s illness had to break their hearts. They might have thought but Freddie said that they were all strong individuals and it kept them together but it enabled them to put out the best songs because they would argue back-and-forth about what was better and what was terrible. John Deacon retiring in 1997 is understandable and I don’t blame him. To him and to many others, Queen still lives and they are legends, But without the original four, there wasn’t any use in continuing on with new music and touring. The band took what music they had they had recorded earlier with Freddy and they put out that album in 1995. I think. Just like you, I still miss Freddie Mercury and seeing the movie was wonderful and funny but it brought tears to my eyes when I got home. I was watching UA-cam videos and I just miss Freddie Mercury and John Deacon❤️ all four of them together were incredible but I miss seeing them all together. John was so cute when he was seen out in public after the movie was released. He’s the business brains of the bunch according to Brian, & since John wanted to retire from music and be with his wife and six kids 😂😂❤️❤️ as we know what he was doing when the band came home from touring😂😂 but John handles the finances because he’s good at that stuff. John was out in public and so many people recognized him. John Deacon is so adorable to this day & he’s older, too. About three people said “ there is John Deacon from Queen!” & John put his hands over his face in disbelief. It was like he couldn’t believe these people knew who he was or remembered him since it had been so long from his retirement. He had this big sweet smile and then he started signing autographs for everyone. ❤️❤️ I thought it was precious. I was pregnant with my second child and had just gotten pregnant around Halloween in 1991. I started getting sick nauseous around the 20th of November. I directly remember when Freddie mercury released that he had AIDS & despite the rumors and having a feeling that he was sick with something. I didn’t want to admit it to myself. Even though the rumors kept talking about him being sick with HIV, etc... I know how the press is and I knew that he had told A friend in 1996 when he was questioned if he had been tested for HIV, etc.. that Freddie told his friend that he was fine but he did have a blood disorder with his white blood cell counts. I didn’t think anything that unusual about it because I have a systemic lupus and rheumatoid arthritis. My white blood cells are low from time to time and I was hoping that Freddy didn’t have leukemia. When he announced he had AIDS, I was devastated just as you. The next day one I saw and heard about his death on TV, I had to run to the bathroom and throw up. It’s amazing how much we can love a person that we have never met. Freddie Mercury could reach people through his actions and his performances on stage and the words to his songs. He said everything was open to interpretation with his music. But he was a very deep man. He even said he was a man of extremes and he was either very hard or he was a big baby. You could see his emotions and feelings in those big beautiful brown eyes. The first time I saw the Bohemian Rhapsody video, I thought he was the most beautiful good-looking man I had ever seen in my life & seven or eight years old. Haha! He just had the most beautiful hair and eyes. Love him and miss him to this day, just like you do. I so miss the four of them!! ❤️
Susie Q yes I knew he was the youngest one to join and only 19 when he was actually chosen as the final bass player for Queen. I think because he was quiet at first and he played the bass so well, his music style went with the chemistry of the band. Once he got comfortable being a bandmember and part of the crew he did open his mouth and say more. From what I have been told, John was more of the voice of reason and couldn’t get the other ones to stop arguing so much. Brian said that their 1986 tour was so stressful for all of them and he was having marital problems and Roger was having girlfriend/home problems. John was stressed out from fatigue like everyone else and missing his family. Brian said that John could get really angry and lash out from time to time but the last concert, John’s roadie kept handing him alcoholic beverages during the concert. After the concert and John was wasted drunk, exhausted and stressed out; & John took his base and slammed it into one of the big speakers. I couldn’t imagine him being that mad but Brian and Roger said that he could get really stressed out and angry sometimes. It’s got to be hard touring and being away from your family. All four of those members had incredible chemistry and despite their arguments and disagreements, they were close friends and family. The fact that all four bandmembers kept Fred’s AIDS Diagnosis when he told them when they got together in late 1988 or early 1899 to do the miracle album, and they kept that secret for almost 3 years. That’s loyalty and Brian and Roger said that Despite the fact they were all devastated by Freddie Mercury’s death that John Deacon took it really really hard. I was a huge fan of Dan deacon and loved the Deacy Amp.. what a brilliant men they were!!
Vanilla Ice ("Ice Ice Baby") stole the bass line from Queen (who originally recorded this with David Bowie, so from him too!) There was a lawsuit and Vanilla Ice lost and had to pay up, haha. He tried to claim it was different... but it wasn't. John Deacon did it first!
@@susieq9801 Yes I know but took one base line off or added and claimed his own. Upsets me when I watch first reactions to this song and they immediately think Queen took it from Vanilla Ice!! At least we can inform our reaction watchers the real truth about who was first... I'm sure Ice Ice Baby was not even born when this song was released. Vanilla Ice was only 14 years old when Under Pressure was released. SMH
@@susanadkins6393 - That's a generational thing. Some can't seem to put the dates of the songs together and add 2 + 2, LOL. Vanilla Ice was 12 when Under Pressure was released in 1981. Very much doubt he wrote the bass line at that age prior to Deacon. :) The lawsuit was upheld. Vanilla Ice did NOT add or delete a single note at all. It was exactly the same. He just dropped a single beat between two notes but every note was identical. Too bad that he was known for that great Deacon riff because he stole someone else's creativity. It is funny when reviewers drop their jaws the minute the song starts...."Hey dude, that's 'Ice, Ice Baby' ". Umm, no it isn't!
Excellent reaction! Wembley held around 80,000 seats. Queen played to much larger crowds in other countries. Freddie was the greatest frontman of all time, not just because he had a 4 octave range, but because he involved the crowd. When Freddie does what you called a warm up, it's actually referred to as a "Call and Response". It was so those at the back of the crowd felt as involved in the concert as well as those in the front. One of Queen's greatest live concerts is the 1981 Montreal concert filmed in 35mm. I highly recommend from that show, Save Me, and Dragon Attack. From this Wembley Show I highly recommend Love Of My Life!!! Each of these songs, live, is hands down the best you will ever hear live. No backing tracks, no ear buds to hear, no autotune, just 4 amazing musicians who were the true meaning of Rock Gods!! Thanks again!!
Lolli Nelson, I had a 4.5 octave range. Freddie's was 5+ octaves. Pitch perfect as well, if I'm not mistaken. An amazing vocal talent. Oh, and when Brian would sit down and pick up that 12-string? You knew that Love of My Life was up next. Between the sentiment, the lyrics, and Brian's skill on the guitar, I don't think I ever did get through that song with a dry eye. 💙🎼💙
Saundra Johnson I think you’re right on both counts- 5+ octaves and perfect pitch (was told this by Philadelphia Orchestra member). His fans, myself included, loved everything about him. His voice was music even when he was just speaking!
Great info! I miss Freddy Mercury more than any gone too soon. I fully regret not seeing him live... but I was a working girl and my spare time was fully engaged in my martial arts training. I lived the music of the 70's, it's my soul music. Freddy Mercury, RIP. 💝
What you witnessed with the "audience callback" technique was a master at work... If you could imagine the chaos and disorder a crowd that size achieves during an event like this. Freddy took the minute to get their attention, UNITE them as one, and bring them back down to the moment of the song that he was about to perform. One man hypnotizing 80,000. The stadium was a "space-ship" and Freddie was it's captain... In FULL control at all times. He was far more than just a singer, and when you realize his unsurpassed ability of manipulating a crowd it's a little easier to understand how the band achieved such greatness. Look at Elvis and you will see the same control with the same results. THAT'S the similarity you noticed without even realizing it. ;-) Thumbs-up on the great reactions and laid back format.
They did a stadium tour in Europe and it ended with 2 nights at Wembley, which both sold out- 72,000 people each night and when those 2 nights sold old they did one more at Knebworth which held 120,000 people that also sold out. That was Freddie’s last live performance- August 1986. Until he died, they just did videos. He still has millions of fans today. Best rock singer of all times. Pure, raw talent.
I was 15 at the time and went to both nights at Wembley and also the knebworth concert. Freddie was one of a kind and truely missed by all who fell in love with his voice.
Remember when Freddie Mercury wore his iconic yellow jacket on stage at Wembley Stadium? His famous yellow jacket was one of three military-style cropped coats created by his friend and costume designer, Diana Moseley. The design was reportedly inspired by Spanish opera costumes and featured gold buckles, eyelets and trim. Freddie paired it with white trousers that had a red stripe down either leg, embellished with gold. The color scheme was said to be a nod to the Spanish flag, though yellow was also known as one of the singer's favorite colors. Also if you notice, his favorite brand of tennis shoes/sneakers were Adidas! LOL
@ Susan Adkins, Michael Jackson was wearing a lot of the military style jackets at around the same time. I know Michael met Queen on at least one occasion. Do you think either's fashion was influenced by the other's? Oh, by the way, I was taught rather late in life that Adidas stands for: All Day I Dream About Sex When you think of Freddie's lifestyle, it somehow seems appropriate, doesn't it? 😋😄
I was there, it was about 80K people. As Queen aged they got huge crowds (one of I think 300K in south america). They essentially invented Arena Rock ;)
The singing with them, is him working the crowd. It's an unspoken compliment: you can sing like I do. Very clever, very inclusive, very high emotional intelligence.
They sold out 2 nights at Wembley & had enough requests to have done many more. The DVD contains both shows, one was in the rain. They invented “Arena Rock” becz of the large venues that booked their tours. Unfortunately, they only did 2 more shows after Wembley, the last at Knebworth in England. Freddie was tiring, and didn’t think that he could continue. The following year, 1987, he was diagnosed with Aids. But they continued to make music until several months before Freddie passed in November 1991. He left behind so many vocal tracks, & told the band to use them. They released “Made in Heaven” in 1995, & got back together in 1997 to record a video tribute to Freddie called “No One But You ( Only the Good Die Young). John Deacon (bass) retired after that. He’d married his high school sweetheart and had 6 kids.
In 1979 they sold out the Capital Center In DC, I was in the 6th row on the floor! At the encore, we ran up to the stage, I was 10 feet from Freddie! Could feel those Smooth Vibes. In the 70's and 80's the Cap Center, Baltimore Convention Center and many more routinely had a sold-out house for these rock concerts. We waited in line all night (literally) at the local Ticketmaster outlet and several times the concert sold out before I left the building. But then sometimes they would announce an additional concert the next night. It was SO different then, no internet or cell phones, you had to BE THERE to get the tickets. It was a great time to be young! I saw dozens of the greatest rockers in history. Wouldn't trade it for anything.
It was a great time to be young! While I was able to see a fair number of concerts, my city was not a big concert venue, so we never got the really cool concerts. Even Elvis cancelled his only one-night appearance there. 😥 At the time, I was too busy with school, working up to three jobs at once, and getting an early start on my own singing career. I didn't have much opportunity to GO to any concerts. If they didn't come to my town, I just had to miss out. I envy anyone who got to see Queen in person. They were all amazing, talented musicians. But as a singer, to have seen Freddie up close and personal? Wow! How incredible that must have been!
I grew up listening to Queen.I still get chills listening to their music. Your reaction to Freddie Mercurys range and vocals is priceless. Also your appreciation of the talents of the guitaist, the size and reaction of the crowd, (I heard it wa 65,000 +) and your attention to a lot of details most people miss is priceless. Thanks for taking the time to review them. I have really enjoyed watching you listening to them.
This song was recorded with David Bowie. The ice ice song used this beat, Queens is the original. Freddie does a song in reference to Elvis. You really need to react to the whole 25 minute Live Aid 1985, and listen to the crowd without talking or stopping it to get the full attention of what happened. The world stopped during that 25 minutes and rock music changed forever.
Love your reactions to Queen. I'm sure I'm not the only Queen fanatic who would love to see you do a reaction to Queen at Live Aid 1985. The 2 main locations for the concert were at the Wembley Stadium in London with 72,000 people in attendance and JFK Stadium in Philadelphia with 80,000 fans. There were 13 satellites televising the concert (the Olympics normally use only 3 to televise) around the world and approximately 1.3 billion people watched the concert that had 75+ performers. Queen and Freddie stole the show. Freddie was told by the doctor, not to perform because of a bad throat infection. But Freddie didn't listen to that medical advice and again, he had the audience in the palms of his hands. He was amazing that day, even with a throat infection. Queen at Live Aid 1985 has been voted as the best Rock n Roll performance of all time and it is still considered to be. Queen''s performance was approximately 25 minutes long plus an encore performance by Freddie and Brian May 3 hours later was about 3 minutes. When you hear whistling and boos during the encore, it's because there were technical problems with the mics and the audience couldn't hear Freddie singing and Brian's guitar playing. Queen at Live Aid is well worth the time that you'll have to spend on your reaction. Freddie was amazing that day, he was such a charismatic performer. Welcome to the Queen Musical Journey.
I'm so jealous that you get to hear all these amazing songs for the VERY FIRST TIME! Man, what a treat! Enjoy every second of awesomeness, during a time when people wrote songs, melodies, harmonies and played instruments! There is nothing like it at all! I can't pick a favourite, but i do know that i go through phases in terms of what I'm listening to at the time... i used to love 'don't stop me now' (obvs. I still do) these days i love 'my melancholy blues' i love '39' which has a real folk feel to it, and 'las palabras de amour' for the sentiment and 'good old fashioned loverboy' for its playfulness... ugh! SOOOOO MANY! Timeless, awesomeness!!!! And of course... 'No one but you' says it all really! ❤💔❤💔
This was an epic audience interaction and every single one of those beautiful people in the audience sound like angels. Thank you for singing for Freddie. We love you.
Honey, you gotta check out the FIRST song from this same concert, “One Vision”, Live at Wembley 86. Make sure you have the Saturday night performance...you’ll know it’s the right one if it starts with speeded up footage of the stage-and-lights being assembled and the audience pouring into the stadium. As soon as Freddie bursts onto the stage, the audience loses their minds!
Just found your channel as im in lockdown in Scotland. Ive also.got brain cancer and today was a bad day and then I found your reaction channel reacting to Queen, the greatest band of all time. Stay safe in America. Sending you all love and hope during these trying times.
Omg just found your channel and I cant stop watching your reactions, send help hahahaha. Great selection of songs mate you have covered almost all my favorites.
Great reaction to a great band , and it was live ,amazing ,give a listen to don't stop me now ,and one vision , their lyrics are amazing , good luck from liver pool uk x
I love this Live video because it shows all four band members in little flashes! When they tried to do solo stuff it was okay, but they would come back together and it was just magical! Freddie had vision when he changed their name to Queen. They are just that regal, their catalog of songs is so extensive and different. They grew as a band through the years. Love Queen and love your reactions! ❤️❤️
Someone has a mash up of this performance and Bowie singing his portion at the memorial concert for Freddie. Can't remember who he actually sang it with there. Was it Elton?
this is why freddy was a performer not just a singer , the start was audience participation as a thank you for coming , in fact the song we will rock you was made so the audience could join in no matter what language you spoke the thump thump clap translates everywhere
Okkkkk I clicked on here as soon as I saw Under Pressure Wembley 86. Plus you have chosen t he Sat show which is the best one by far. I have to mention Roger and his amazing backing vocals. He basically does David Bowie’s part. He always says it’s hard for him because it’s lower than his usual register. He does great tho. I highly recommend Another One Bites the Dust from the same concert on the same evening. They totally rock it out with that. Thank you for reacting to my favourite band . Cheers from 🇦🇺
Literally the first reactor I've ever seen, critiquing the audience in this performance. Freddie was just having fun with the people. A reporter once asked him which instrument he played. He said: The audience.
Haha, that's awesome, 'not everyone is as gifted as Freddie'. Breaking news bro, absolutely no one is. That vanilla ice comment had me rolling too. Glad you loved it.
"there were no cell phones out at all, everyone is so focussed and engaged". There were barely any cell phones in existance then, and they were the size of bricks and only made calls. They didn't even send texts. It's very unlikely anyone in the crowd had one there. That kind of focus and engagement is what happens when you don't watch everything second hand through a teeny little screen and just experience it without distracting yourself. Queen were amazing, but I think cell phones at gigs ruin the experience no matter how good the band. Nobody wants to see your footage recorded from the 80th row. YOU don't want to see your footage recorded from the 80th row. Why make it? Professionally recorded live versions of everything can be found on the internet if you want them. Just watch the show.
The only thing cell phones are good for at a concert in my opinion is a light tribute. The silent glow from a cell phone's flashlight can last much longer and be much safer than all the burnt fingertips from trying to keep a BIC lighter flame alit. Ouch! 🔥
@@RJohnson2024 Three whole watts? Wow. Too funny. I remember those things were like bricks, both in shape and weight. But hey! They were still so futuristic for the time. A real come-to-life Jetson moment! 😄
I’m loving watching your reactions to Queen and Freddie. Best band ever and it’s fab seeing your appreciation of them. Just so sad that Freddie has gone to his rest far too soon. 😢 Did you watch Bohemian Rhapsody (the movie)? A-flippin’-mazing!!! Love from Ireland 🇮🇪
Freddie was an artist with body and soul. To be on stage and perform was his passion. His play with the audience was unique. He was one of the greats, and his loss was profound.
Freddie was one of a kind. You need to watch the whole concert. Your reactions to Queen are true any Queen fan can see that. So happy you discovered them.
Elvis Presley is one of Freddy Mercury's biggest inspirations, so yeah he took cues from the King. One was including the audience in the show, like at the beginning of this song, it was to amp them up. To this day no other, to me, has owned and loved a crowd like he did.
JayVee, in 1985 cellphones were enormous and the battery was carried in a shoulder bag!!!! It was only when cellphones became smaller in the mid-1990's did we start using them, and it was in the 2007 when the first iPhone was introduced did we have good functioning cameras and we took them to concerts. Good times to see a crowd with noo real distractions just enjoying themselves.
This concert was international and included numerous acts, about 72,000 in that stadium, up to nearly a million people when you count crowds that saw it around the world. Everyone said, though, that Freddie was the best and Queen was the best performance of the concert.
I think you’re my favorite when it comes to reactions because you’re so open minded to different styles. Some folks aren’t as open minded, but it’s just so nice to come together as a community and enjoy music with each other. Queen is pretty awesome and Freddie always seemed to have that larger than life attitude.
Music - the universal language. If more people could just get together and enjoy musical performances together, this world might be a whole lot better off, and a nicer place to live.
The point is, Jayvee, you're taking the time to enjoy them now! You can't control when you were born. But making the decision to expand your horizons and broaden your knowledge is your choice, and says a lot for you. Who needs classes? This IS music appreciation!
This is the first time I am seeing your reaction to this song so I don't know if You will even see this comment. I grew up with this music and I thought You might find it interesting to know that Freddie Mercury had a 5 range voice octave. Some one did a study of his voice and also discovered that He used a second set of Vocal chords that are silent and usually only used by Monks when chanting. If You dive in deeper about his life it makes sense that he may have learned this from someone. It rides under the tones You can hear and it is the tones You can feel. Listen to his music again without reacting and just listen, You will feel it hit You in the gut. It is not known if He was aware that He used these second set of vocals or not but it is known that he was a Rare gift.
160 thousand people saw them over 2 nites at Wembley soccer stadium. One of the best bands of all time... and one of the best frontmen of all time. Keep listening... keep growing!
Freddie Mercury, was with out a doubt, one of the greatest front man for a band to watch in concert. I'm sure their were others but, Freddie was Elite on another level. I wish I could have seen them live.
You killed me. Every audience knew Freddie would do this. This song is way into concert. Next up is Another One Bites the Dust. You HAVE to watch it if you think he’s entertaining here. Freddie is just Freddie.
This was a televised concert at Wimbley stadium in England. The concert was called Live Aid, it raised money for Africa and also had acts by Elton John, David Bowie and too many more to mention. Check it out.
Late last night I came across one of your videos by accident (ABBA: The Winner Takes It All). I LOVE ABBA, so I watched it, saved it to a playlist, then went through almost all of your videos and saved a shit ton of them to my watch later list. So now I have to watch all of these videos and probably more and it’s all your fault.😠😁 I don’t know why, but it’s just really fun to watch you react and sway and bounce around to the beat of the songs. Speaking of this one, I’m sure one of the other Commenters already told you about the history of the song. Queen originated this song whatever year it was. ‘85 or ‘86? (I was walking around when every single one of their ALBUMS first dropped. And I remember everyone was freaking out because Freddie did this as a duet with David Bowie and they just sounded so great together. Then Vanilla Ice “stole” the beginning baseline for “ice ice baby” in the 90s, I guess. Back then, people were just beginning to sample and it was pretty controversial at first. Vanilla Ice took quite a bit of flack from Queen fans. But never mind. Thanks so much for triggering some really good memories.
The lyrics and the voice are the reason there are 100,000 + people in that stadium. If you have never been to a concert like that, you should see it light up with lighters during a ballad, it's like you are looking at the heavens.
Jayvon I only discovered your channel a week ago and I’m loving it taking grandma back to her youth 😅 If your queen education hasn’t found it yet “Barcelona “ Freddie Mercury & monserrat caballiere the theme for the 1992 olympics awesome it will blow you away xx
I’m a big Queen fan & classic rock. I just found your channel. Every member of Queen wrote #1 hits with 3 lead singers. Should react to Roger singing lead do I’m in love with my car. Live Montreal 81. 🎸🔥
Can y'all believe that Another One Bites the Dust, and We Are the Champions have now been played at thousands of major (and minor) sporting events for forty-some years now??? Everytime I realize so much time has passed, I have to pick my jaw up off the floor. I just can't believe that it's been that long. And Queen's music still seems so current!
I just adore your reactions!!! You're so interactive, it's wonderful!! We get thoughtful reactions and a good laugh as well. I'm a fan

Same. I got such a kick out of the last 3 I've watched.
Count me in as a fan as well!
Man I’m jealous. I was just 14 when Freddie died. I was heartbroken. My mom had me listening to queen from birth. I really wish I had a chance to see them live.
I was about 30 yards or so from the front that day as a 16 year old at my first gig, blew my mind!
Insanely jealous 😭

Lucky you I bet it was fantastic 🎤😊
Paul McInerney wow no way!!! So so lucky!!!
Queen lore states when asked what instrument he plays, Freddie answered "The audience"
I think Vanilla Ice they added or removed one note from that rif
@@susanadkins6393 - He blatantly stole it. Lost the lawsuit.
The lawsuit was upheld.

Call and response is such a fundamental firm of music
Checkout Cornwalls Fisherman's Friends song Keep Hauling, great for those tough days

THAT'S the similarity you noticed without even realizing it. ;-)
Thumbs-up on the great reactions and laid back format.

It was a game he played with the audience, he KNEW we couldn't keep up, but we wanted to play too.

Oh, by the way, I was taught rather late in life that Adidas stands for:

Freddie with the audience in the palm of his hand.
Yep! That’s Wembley Stadium in England - a massive soccer stadium.
At the time, I was too busy with school, working up to three jobs at once, and getting an early start on my own singing career.

Couldn't agree more. That was powerful!!
At this time in life people didn't have cells and the focus was on the experience.

Okkkkk I clicked on here as soon as I saw Under Pressure Wembley 86. Plus you have chosen t he Sat show which is the best one by far. I have to mention Roger and his amazing backing vocals.
Ouch! 🔥
Still my favourite song. This live version was awesome but I love hearing it with David Bowie, and the contrast of their voices. ❤️

History is always measured by your time on the earth. Cue the time warp music, this was the "80's! A great time to live through!
Wembley Stadium holds about 72,000 people.
The film "Queen Live at Wembley" feature footage from two performances. They actually sold out Wembley Stadium twice.
Freddie was an artist with body and soul. To be on stage and perform was his passion. His play with the audience was unique. He was one of the greats, and his loss was profound.
Ha ha, no cell phones! Who's going to tell him? Adorable.
That crowd loved every breathe of Queen...Freddie. What a fantastic atmosphere!
Loved this....thank you!
Pat Donnelly no thank you 😊
@@JayveeTV you do very cool reactions...and watching Freddie always makes me happy!
Queen Bassist John Deacon wrote the rift and vanilla ice used it with out permission from Queen.
So Queen sued him for using it illegally
Freddie was one of a kind. You need to watch the whole concert. Your reactions to Queen are true any Queen fan can see that. So happy you discovered them.
Elvis Presley is one of Freddy Mercury's biggest inspirations, so yeah he took cues from the King. One was including the audience in the show, like at the beginning of this song, it was to amp them up. To this day no other, to me, has owned and loved a crowd like he did.
that's the magic of Freddie 💖
JayVee, in 1985 cellphones were enormous and the battery was carried in a shoulder bag!!!! It was only when cellphones became smaller in the mid-1990's did we start using them, and it was in the 2007 when the first iPhone was introduced did we have good functioning cameras and we took them to concerts. Good times to see a crowd with noo real distractions just enjoying themselves.
I have this 7" single.
This was a one-off gig for Live Aid, a charity gig in 1985 after they released "Do They Know It's Christmas?" as Band Aid.
THIS GROUP WAS SIMPLY AWESOME !!! GENIUS
He did this song with David Bowie in the studio.
Just discovered your channel. I love your reactions!
This was a televised concert at Wimbley stadium in England. The concert was called Live Aid, it raised money for Africa and also had acts by Elton John, David Bowie and too many more to mention. Check it out.
Love how you appreciate the older music!
The crowds got bigger than Wembley. And Freddie had the ability to involve everybody whether you were at the front or right at the back.
One of the only artists that could hype an audience with just warming his vocals.
I was there, and even now almost 35 years on it is still the single greatest live performance I have witnessed.
No he did this at every live concert he loved the Audience being part of the show ! He loved the fans
All Freddie and Queen songs killer, lite, on fire. Some songs old as dirt. Still toking it. True professional.
"One he starts sweatin you know the performance about to be lit."
It's only the greatest performance in the history of rock.
Watch the Green Day Concert Hyde park, where the crowd sings the entire Bohemian Rhapsody whilst waiting for the next set.
UNFUKNBELIEVABLE !
The lyrics and the voice are the reason there are 100,000 + people in that stadium. If you have never been to a concert like that, you should see it light up with lighters during a ballad, it's like you are looking at the heavens.
Freddie Mercury was the Pied Piper....such an awesome talent. And Brian May could really make a song with that guitar.
I just found your videos. You're so fun to watch!
Jayvon I only discovered your channel a week ago and I’m loving it taking grandma back to her youth 😅
If your queen education hasn’t found it yet “Barcelona “ Freddie Mercury & monserrat caballiere the theme for the 1992 olympics awesome it will blow you away xx
I’m a big Queen fan & classic rock. I just found your channel. Every member of Queen wrote #1 hits with 3 lead singers. Should react to Roger singing lead do I’m in love with my car. Live Montreal 81. 🎸🔥
Killer Queen and I'm in Love with My Car live!!
