Both of these phones are $90 at Metro ($50 for the phone and $40 for a prepaid month of service to activate it). You have to wait 6 months for the phone to unlock but if you plan upgrades in advance it's much cheaper to buy one that way than pay five times more for one that's unlocked from the start.
Both phones are for metro by T-Mobile now but i kept the pixel and sold my a54 5g. Its simply a overall better phone especially with everyday use and camera. Though i love the a54 5g battery life
@pisderata when using the camera pixel 6a kept overheating, got the oneplus n30 5g and that had software issues with a basic camera. Just recently went back to the a54 5g
You forgot the adaptive battery on the pixel 6a...it takes a little time for it to actually show some results but it helps a lot with battery saving and helping the phone maintain a decent temperature
I have the 6a and have been considering switching to the A54. Mostly for the SD card slot and longer update cycle. I'm glad to hear it doesn't heat up as much as playing Pokémon Go tends to make my 6a rather warm, which also affects the display by making it dimmer. I'm not a huge camera snob but as long as I can get good video and photos I'm happy. It's weird how Pixel and Samsung are almost polar opposites aside from being on android. Pixel has superior software but lackluster hardware (From the overheating and various physical defects like the camera glass on the Pixel 7 randomly breaking) while Samsung has worse software but excels in their hardware. Not just the display but the build quality too.
Your comment just helped me decide. I'd been a huge fan of Google and their Pixel line up until their 6 series. I no longer trust Google to make a decent phone. I'm not a giant fan of Samsung's OneUI skin, but at least the A54 will have updates for longer, as well as the SD card slot. Glad I made the switch. I hope you're enjoying your new A54, and have a safe and happy New Year.
Exactly, as well as the extremely low brightness (I have to turn brightness to 70% inside to get a decent view of the screen) as well as the poor sound (you have to turn your volume to at least 60% to hear anything, if you go below that it's nearly unhearable)
@@purplefishy8164 These are major flaws. Can't accept it on any devices at this price point as of 2022-23 standards. I'm still wondering why none of these reviewers ever mentioned those. Did they forget to note them while busy blaming that 60Hz panel and the older camera sensor? Honestly, 60Hz feels better than many 90Hz panels out there and that "blamed" camera sensor returns some extraordinary results that even some flagships can't offer.
Until couple days ago I been using a Galaxy A03S which has only 32GB of storage on the Verizon network. Last 3 months been fighting with space issues on the onboard storage of the device which caused the device to run sluggish. For a new smartphone I was deciding between two smartphones either the Galaxy A14 which had 64GB of space and course a microSD card slot. The other smartphone I was thinking about was the Google Pixel 6a which has 128GB storage but no microSD card slot. I decided to go with the Google Pixel 6a even though it lacks microSD card slot. The 128GB storage on the Pixel 6a is more than enough for me after all I been living with 32GB on the Galaxy A03S I been using with 128GB microSD. Another reason I decided on the Pixel 6a is the QoL Features it has like the ability to display text on the screen what someone is saying even during a phone call. I also like the fact it has adaptive battery feature but it's my first Pixel smartphone so I can't comment how well the adaptive battery works.
I use Verizon Wireless which is the best for my area. Making calls and receiving calls never been an issue. Our area really only has LTE with a little pocket of 5G. As for as DATA goes it's OK. I normally only use the DATA when I'm not at home. When I'm at a store and need to look something up. Also if I'm at my appointment and waiting to get in.
Samsung really decide to nerf the A54 with its thick bezels. Everything is perfect for me except its bezels. I really love the longevity of their software support
Getting the a54, I’ve got an iPhone 13 Pro Max so i don’t care about the camera on this one. If I’m going to add android to the collection, I might as well get some expandable storage. It’s been years.
A54 on straight talk gives you 5GUW. Pixel 6a on straight talk is only 5g. 120-ish down(pixel)vs a54 @ at LEAST 300 down. Plus a54 has a MUCH better camera and better battery life. Also better speakers and brighter display
My pixel 6a heated up often and calls were prone to interference and garbling which makes sense being I've read bad things about it's modem, only reasons I'm looking into switching to a54.
@@archie7288 Oh no gotta buy a $20 charger.... it helps with not wasting so many chargers that no one might not need. The more in the box the more it cost.

Bruh, I was just about to trade in my Pixel 6a and spend an extra $200+ on a Galaxy A54 just for extra storage. I was hesitant because no reviewer is saying the A54 is the clear winner over a phone that came out a year before it. You saved my pockets, I never knew these existed.

Pretty sad none of the reviewers never mentioned the color shifting/Tinting/rainbow effect on pixel 6a when viewed from a small tilted angle.
