Any good chrome polish will seal the pitting on the cleaned chrome. Definitely repaint the grille black. Chrome rear bumper for sure. The yellow was probably an adhesive. I still like my idea about the return of the “blue ghost” and publicity. Loving this series.
....cleaning up a masterpiece like this 56...is one of your best videos....those of us who grew up driving cars like this are now old so we dream of still having a car like this...
That was a fun video, and I appreciate the constant effort to preserve the history and spirit! I have a GTO that I keep preserved too, so it's nice to see I'm not alone for this "acquired taste". Thanks!
Hi Olivia. Judging by this video being done less than 15 minutes ago, this has to be your newest. The car does need work, but if anyone can accomplish this feat, the two of you can.
Growing up my family had a 56 two door post, blue and white...It was time to let go after my parents bought a brand new 72 orange Nova...Parents asked me if I wanted the 56 and I said no...They ended up selling it to the neighbors boyfriend for 15 dollars (15 is no typo)...Dang it, the things we wish we would've done different!...Great job on the first resto of the Drag car!
@markbrown6236 heck yeah Turbos into a tunnel ram is the sweetest around.... don't forget boost controllers connected to either a FuelTech, MS3PRO EVO+, or dominator...put the 56 on 315s with mini tubs on the same cragars and run it on the edge of the tire. Woohoo!! Around 10lbs should get 1000hp with a 427/440 build the engine for at least 15lbs. And keep the patina by spraying it with clear....😄
Back in the 60's had many tri fives, and raced a 56 sedan but in stocker class.... not a gas class which yours probably did. And yours probably is a Bel Air. As I recall that's the only way the hard top was sold in 56. But after thinking about it, a 210 2dr hardtop was made in 56, but in very small quantity. (never saw a 210 hd top actually) You can tell by the side trim which it was. The vin number also will tell which it is. And....I had a silver blue (like yours) 56 two door sedan in about 1966 (I'm old now but back then building and racing a 56 chevy was some of the best and fun times of my early life.) Then got married, college, and off to the working world.
I think you should just replace the minimum stuff necessary to get it running reliably, throw another seat in it, and cruise it. Take it to the track as is, so you have a before and after comparison.
That car cleaned up well and looks to be in great shape. The cragars look so good. Great chrome cleaning tips, I will definitely try that combo. Thanks for the awesome content.
In Olivias defense I think she could have started the pressure washer if you hold the trigger open while trying to start. Much easier. Bumper should be chrome. That thing is looking sweet nice job both of you.
POR 15 the floors done! Nice ride you guys I had tri5s in the 70s built a 57 gasser in high school in 74 it was the fastest car in town big sigerson cam 6 Stromberg 97s on a 283 60 over engine I built in auto shop, loved that car!
Can this old guy give you a quick tip. You don't need any soap or water with that steel wool. Use it dry, and you will be able to see and feel your results immediately. Which allows you to see if you missed any spots, is a lot less messy and a whole lot faster. And also allows you to work around electrical parts like that horn ring, without having to spray water on live wires. Take it from a kid who used to wash his bicycle back in the 70's with a wet sos pad, then moved up to dry sos pads and eventually dry steel wool. The car looks AWESOME, I love it. And I just so happen to own a 57 Chevy Gasser
one good thing about that chrome plating on those cars from the fifties is unless the parts are just completely rotted out they will clean up and polish out. nothing looks better than that brightwork when it is cleaned up and polished.
Great car! Good job! A long term idea is to replace the hood and deck lids. Lose the roll bar and put bench seats in. Auto shift back on the column. Get repair pieces for the wheel wells. It’s a solid enough car to do all these things without a lot of money! Keep up the great work!
Well the paint looks really good I wouldn't paint it that thing is great great character there wow if that's that in Wisconsin it would be destroyed thank God we're at sad it was not too bad wow it looks fabulous
I love those Crager SS mags! I have some America Racing wheels that are pretty much Crager imitations on my ‘67 Nova but they just aren’t the same. Old guys like myself really like the real thing.
It helps to let the water cycle through the machine by holding the wand and pressing the trigger while pull starting on a pressure washer... looking good 👍
I dont think the car is horrendous. Personally I think some wear or abuse adds a lot of character. The grease however does need to go. So did the rust on the chrome. I love the car looks just great as is. The floor will really look great with a couple coats of some Eastwood Matte Black Rust Encapsulator to further protect that nice floor. Thanks, I enjoyed hanging out with both of you.
Nice job guys! Nothing like starting with a clean slate. I love the before and after. Believe it or not, quad zero ( 0000 ) steel wool, used dry, cleans up chrome really well. Then you just wipe it down with some window spray. It's nice for when you don't want to use any water. I did it on a 61 Falcon that had been sitting in a garage for 48 years, came out looking nearly new.
You can use some Poppy Patina wipe on clear coat. Matte or shiny, it will seal the surface and preserve the paint and stop any rust. You probably won’t like the shiny, but I think it would look awesome. On the interior, you don’t have to keep it exactly the way you got it. A matte finish black would look awesome and won’t hide all the imperfections. It’s your’s, do what you want…
I've been dealing with rust for over 40 years and I just discovered Rustoleum Rust Disolver that works great. I think it would have helped on that floor. I would just paint the entire floor the same black that you did the rear deck but whatever. There's also rust chelating agents like evapo-rust that react only with the rust and chemically react to a new compound that doesn't rust. I'd say that its better but I've not yet tried it, you can also DIY it per some UA-cam videos.
I really like your '56 hardtop. I'll admit I'm biased toward hardtops because I've owned a '55 "hardtop" for 3 years now. I suggest naming your car "Live Wire". I think I would paint the grill with some chrome spray paint. Great job on the clean up!!!
Try Aluminium Folil and a bit of vingiar For your chrome, roll the foil into a ball and dip it in vinigar or water, then rub it on your rusty chrome and witness a mirical. Top tip from the UK.
Thanks for the great video you're bringing the 56 back alive that's wonderful have a great day and just a comment about the guys who took stuff from you yeah losers but nothing a sissy bar a rope and Outlaw Biker can't fix just saying when I was a kid my neighbors are all a bikers they taught me a lot respect and they always said treat people like you want to be treated I never heard it was great never trouble because the bikers live thereRemember carburetors for life your channel is one of my favorites thank you I'm just an old time where I can't build cars anymore but I love the channel
‘Livia, you notice how Danny puts the elbow grease behind that washing brush. That’s the way you’re supposed to do it. A good wax job would make that thing look great.
I would paint the front grill black again. Maybe a satin black along with the package tray in the back. Great content! Love the channel.😃
Any good chrome polish will seal the pitting on the cleaned chrome. Definitely repaint the grille black. Chrome rear bumper for sure. The yellow was probably an adhesive. I still like my idea about the return of the “blue ghost” and publicity. Loving this series.

Looks like a keeper that I would love to have.
Love 💕 the Cragars Straight Classic and for a name, Blue Bye You or Ole Blue!!! 🇺🇸💪🇺🇸🏁
Thank u for keeping are elders alive
Neat attachment to pressure wash the underside. Name POWER SURGE 👍👍👍👍👍
Wow, I love that under car sprayer. Thats awesome
Ice blue a friend of mine had a hardtop 55 Chevrolet that color back in the 80s
Color matched glove box latch is perfect.
That 56 beauty is a labor of love 🙂👍❤️‼️
That was a fun video, and I appreciate the constant effort to preserve the history and spirit! I have a GTO that I keep preserved too, so it's nice to see I'm not alone for this "acquired taste". Thanks!
That 56 is soooo bitchin, has that 70s street racer vibe!!! Can wait to follow along on it's journey!!!
"OLD-SCHOOL" in bold letters on the quarter panels. With some nice 70s pinstriping around the car.
5 spoke Cragar always my favorite. Even on early’60 Impala low riders with 560’s
An hour long vid of you having a car wash. Fascinating
Hi Olivia. Judging by this video being done less than 15 minutes ago, this has to be your newest. The car does need work, but if anyone can accomplish this feat, the two of you can.
Gotta name the car Johnny Tri5 after the movie Short Circuit ⚡⚡ Such a sweet ride 🤙🍻
BRUISER! It looks like a Bruiser! Cause that's what Olivia is gonna do to Rumrunner when she races you Danny! Put a Woopin on ya! 😂😂😂😂
Woohoo!
That ol 56 drag car is the coolest!
I totally recommend a tunnel ram being fed with two turbos. Mmmm
No turbo's.

Ya'all (yes I'm in the south) are the coolest young car couple I've ever seen! at 61 I've been a car guy since I got my first Hot Wheels toy.
Thank you kindly!
I think you should just replace the minimum stuff necessary to get it running reliably, throw another seat in it, and cruise it. Take it to the track as is, so you have a before and after comparison.
I'd call that engine CRUSTY and it would be cool to keep it looking like that and then run really good times!
Playtime 1956 Chevy Street n Strip
Looking good guys 👍 new redwood rally entry?
Edit: that's amazingly solid! Classic California car 🤌
Hell yea Danny keep it 💯 Grease Lighting!!! Keep it in the slayer family!!!!
That car cleaned up well and looks to be in great shape. The cragars look so good. Great chrome cleaning tips, I will definitely try that combo. Thanks for the awesome content.
High Voltage 😎
You are Supposed to Use Tin Foil or Aluminum Foil To Clean Chrome !😎
In Olivias defense I think she could have started the pressure washer if you hold the trigger open while trying to start. Much easier. Bumper should be chrome. That thing is looking sweet nice job both of you.
An engine builder, rebuilder, I've been committed to full synthetics since 2000. Get with it. Rear end, trans, engine, to surface care .

Yep POR 15 - I second that.

Old 56 cleaned really well.
Yes some door cards, silver painted rear bumper, blacked out front surround, fill cover for area to trunk, little wiring ready for a drive.
one good thing about that chrome plating on those cars from the fifties is unless the parts are just completely rotted out they will clean up and polish out. nothing looks better than that brightwork when it is cleaned up and polished.

Awesome 56 drag car. Cleaned up really nice. ❤️🤙🏽 I say High Voltage ⚡ for the name.
Great content! Love the channel That old 56 drag car is so nice to have.
My favorite color is 'Chrome'!👍
YALL DID GREAT JOB LOOKS SO MUCH NICER😊
I think it would look good with some polished aluminum panels on the doors in the back sides and the block off the red trunk
Overcurrent? As the name! That powerwasher giving Olivia a hard tim made me think of the lyrics: You gotta fight, for your right to party 😂
So exciting cleaning a new vehicle that's been sitting for year's...suh a BAD ASS GASSER !!!
That ol 56 cleaned up pretty good

Power surge, it's like christine it caused a power surge because you were trying to name it and it give you it's name 😂😂
I love those Crager SS mags! I have some America Racing wheels that are pretty much Crager imitations on my ‘67 Nova but they just aren’t the same. Old guys like myself really like the real thing.

That's Olivia's car, no question.

The 56 looks good guys cool 😎.

Didn't know they made a 0000 pad, I'll need to check into that, I've always used 000 and chrome polish.
There's something magical about tipping down the left taillight to fuel up a '56 Chevy car. Ñothing better, but a '55 Eldo is close.

Car looks amazing
You really need to try Proline water town truck and trailer wash system, , BigAl California thanks
Sparky
Short Fuse is an awesome name.
Looking good 👍
Car looks amazing, love the color and body style. Chrome number and grill, I think.
I think it looks great. Just paint up the grill!!😊
Call the 56 “ Transformer” !!!
Perhaps the craftsman who made the shift knobs could make a gnarly logo cap to snap over that big washer on the steering wheel.
Blue Magic is my fav chrome metal polish
Nothing like a good detail...
I've been dealing with rust for over 40 years and I just discovered Rustoleum Rust Disolver that works great. I think it would have helped on that floor. Love the opening of this video!
Use chrome polish on the 00/000 steel wool pads for the chrome, that's always been my go to.
I really like your '56 hardtop. I'll admit I'm biased toward hardtops because I've owned a '55 "hardtop" for 3 years now. I suggest naming your car "Live Wire". I think I would paint the grill with some chrome spray paint. Great job on the clean up!!!
Past blue 💙 for the name 💙
Great job!!! Name the car "The Interrupter" 😉
After you drive it the way it is you're going to call it Blue Thunder
Shocking Blue? Cheers guys from Oz.
The old ss cragars what's my favorite wheel back in the day
Try Aluminium Folil and a bit of vingiar For your chrome, roll the foil into a ball and dip it in vinigar or water, then rub it on your rusty chrome and witness a mirical. Top tip from the UK.
In view of the power box explosion how about " Wham Bam " for her name
How about "PoleFire"for a name
Thanks for the great video you're bringing the 56 back alive that's wonderful have a great day and just a comment about the guys who took stuff from you yeah losers but nothing a sissy bar a rope and Outlaw Biker can't fix just saying when I was a kid my neighbors are all a bikers they taught me a lot respect and they always said treat people like you want to be treated I never heard it was great never trouble because the bikers live thereRemember carburetors for life your channel is one of my favorites thank you I'm just an old time where I can't build cars anymore but I love the channel
Relieve the pump pressure by holding the trigger open before starting the pressure washer!! Starts WAY EASIER!!!
Black out the grill again, strip off the silver off the rear bumper. Danny is a blending whisperer, looks great.
How about Sparky for the name.
After you get it clean, try that never dull in the crime chrome and the alu-minium .
It works really good .
I'd like to have that and modernize it into a modern-day drag car make it a mean no prep...
Just use lexan instead of plexiglass next time
Electric blue that's a good name for it.
‘Livia, you notice how Danny puts the elbow grease behind that washing brush. That’s the way you’re supposed to do it. A good wax job would make that thing look great.
Lightning strikes that's what you need to name the car
Call it Power Outage!😊
Comet and a wet wash cloth cleans chrome right up. It is non abrasive as well. Just something I've always used to not Pitt the chrome.
Try running a flame over the light lens it can sometimes brighten it up worth a try if you are getting another one 👍
Shock wave is a good name
