Jeff, you and paige keep the videos coming. I relate with you guys. I grew up hunting, fishing and eating all the wild stuff you cook. Love ya'lls videos man!
I’m in South Alabama and my great grandmother used to make me homemade root beer from sassafras. She and I would dig up the roots. I’m 51 now but I can still taste it. Have mercy it was so good.
The first time I had snapping turtle was in 1987 in Espanola, Ontario. I was up there on a black bear hunting trip. There were a bunch of GOB’s (that’s a compliment) from Tennessee there too and they caught the biggest snapper I’d ever seen. They were gracious enough to share with everyone in camp. Boy that was some good eats!
I have good friends from Louisiana who make Gumbo. I learned about the way they make it, and now the hunting camp menu includes Gumbo. Comfort food that is pleasing to the soul. I agree with you about no such thing as Northern Gumbo 😅
Jeff people don't know what they are missing. Eating off the land we did just that look at us now were not running to no store. We eat from land to water and we can make a meal. Great video you too 💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯👍🏾
I've never had gumbo. After watching this show, I've made up my mind that my first experience will be turtle. Even if I have to pay Jeff and this pretty lady to make it 😁!
Well done on the Rouge. Gumbo a little different than a Cajun gumbo but I bet it was really good. I'm from south Louisiana and gumbo is one of my favorite meals. Thanks for all your great content.
First time I had turtle was a turtle soup in New Orleans. Best soup I ever had and I've been hooked on turtle since. Hard to find where I live, but when I can I always get it. Yum!!!!
Hey y’all, being from Louisiana and knowing the correct pronunciation of gumbo file. Well if y’all will notice the little accent above the E, that turns it into an “A” sound. (Gumbo Fee-Lay) 😂
In Lousiana we call that a cou-be-oin, Here in Cajun country tomatoes does not go in a gumbo. New orleans does that in some places. But a cou-be-ion is where we use tomatoes and roux. Bith are very very good, Just one is like a soup with rice and one is more like a rice in gravy. Always love Jeffs videos. I havent had turtle this year, But seeing this I may have to bust a couple
@@marcleblanc7021 Man do I love La food! Wife cooks fantastic gumbo, jambalaya, étouffée, shrimp creole, shrimp and grits, redfish and trout dishes, red beans and rice, etc. And, you can’t beat La boiled crawfish with corn, potatoes, onions and whatever else you want to toss in the pot. You’re right about tomatoes in gumbo. It’s not real gumbo if it has tomatoes in it. Gotta use file’ to thicken up the gumbo, not tomatoes.
Oh yeah love gumbo used to make my own at one time and yes you can put whatever you want in it problem was I very seldom got any of it got any of it 😁🤓👌😆😉🐝
Like I said before Jeff, you need to publish a cooking book I wish we get on private chat because I would like tell you about recipes or share when it comes to smoking meat in your smoke house ?.
I knew someone years ago who loved a turtle so much she didn't care it was illegal and she paid with a broken arm for her efforts so l will just have to take your word for it.
Gumbo is a food that the flavor changes as it set and marinades in its juices, starts off really good and ends even better !
I want to be like Jeff when I grow up. Cooking with a beautiful young thing at my side! YES SIR!!!
Looks like he keeps upgrading models 🤷♂️🤷♂️🤣🤣🤣🤣

SHE IS ADORABLE !
As our favorite cajun would say "dats money dude"! Turtle and squirrel top 2 in my book...
Stale kracker? Put it in a kracker lol. Jeff should use his Cajun 2 step. Good stuff.
I would appreciate it very much if you make a video on how to make root beer with the sassafras root.❤

norther gumbo is clam chowder
For those who say there is no Northern gumbo, let’s not forget that all the Cajun’s forefathers settled in Louisiana from Quebec.
Omg that looks amazing!! Haven't had turtle in years. Better get me some. Thanks y'all! 🐾🙏🏻✌🏻

That looks good, Jeff. I can almost taste it
The day after its even better
Looks good. This young lady has a good UA-cam channel. Now let’s see if she can catch some catfish, same way as Hannah.
Man that was a dark roux 😮 looking good though 🍻😎
It’s called chocolate roux because of the color. It’s just cooked longer than light roux

Did he get divorced ?
Whole bunch of children in the comments all of a sudden.
Omg that looks good , I never had turtle, but I love gumbo
File is pronounced fee-lay as in in the song, “jambalaya crawfish pie fee-lay gumbo”.
Son of a gun we'll have big fun on the bayou
I just had dinner, but you have just made me hungry again!

Here on the bayou turtle soup is a delicacy. You might want to consider a shot of sherry in your bowl of gumbo. That's how we do it here.
“Will work for Gumbo” 🙏🏻
Now that’s a good lookin roue
Alabama meets A who new best wishes appreciate y'all sharing

Couvillion (I’m also from La).
@JT_70 You are 100% correct. I tried to spell it like it sounds. But thank you sir, I appreciate it. 🙏

Creole gumbo has maters. Blacks are the ones who invented gumbo in the first place so I'm sure they know.
Court bouillon is how it’s spelled
Anyone remember domes and baby domes that smelled like sassafras back in the 80's? Man, that thought makes me want to dance to some Depeche Mode...
HE likes em young dont he
Very cool video as always Jeff, and a cool little hottie with you as well :-) you go man you go.
Crawfish etoufee is my favorite.
Up here in Canada we don't generally eat turtle because other game is available, by the truck load.
