- Video for the Whitesnake cover version for Day Tripper, one of the most classic The Beatles song (written by John Lennon and Paul Macartney).
This song came from Whitesnake "Trouble" album, 1978.
David Coverdale - Vocals
Neil Murray - Bass
John Lord - Keyboards
Bernie Marsden - Guitar
Micky Moody - Guitar
Duck Dowle - Drums
I think many people never seen this video before. Whitesnake was a great band not only in the 80s, but in 70s as well!
I Hope you Enjoy it!
Stay Hard (True as Steel)!
While there's no beating the original recording of this classic, Whitesnake deserves a ton of credit for this totally awesome and original take on Day Tripper. They weren't trying to be the Beatles. They stayed true to their own sound while still respecting the song and knocked it out of the park.
Got a sexy Bluesy vibe.
Agreed! Like David Coverdale said about the Purple Album, We weren’t trying to replace the original songs. We just wanted to play ‘em.
Holy shit. Coverdale is amazing. His voice is like a mix of Paul Rodgers and Chris Cornell. So perfect for this genre.
Robert Plant is his influencer
Chris Cornell sounded a lot like Coverdale with Audioslave.
Coverfish was never the Rober Plant he wished to be lol
Blackmore wanted to be Jimmy Page and failed there, too
Front runner
@@JoeandAngieI saw plant and page live many times and I’ve never heard them play above a C grade whereas Blackmore was an A+ many times. Even EVH said Page plays like he has broken fingers. As for Coverdale he was a Paul Rodgers wannabe not Robert. Plant was a Steve Marriotte clone but of course in true Zeppelin style took the credit for it. Take that fan boy. 😝😎😜
Wow. This is an incredible cover of a Beatles classic. Never knew Whitesnake did this song. ❤❤❤
Jon Lord on the keyboards, yes!Great stuff!
Classic Whitesnake ... they were awesome, just cool and well played music. I saw them in 1981. Best concert I have seen.
I thoroughly enjoyed this thank you. I saw Whitesnake in the 80's and was blown away. I much prefer the earlier blues rock era than the more commercial rock style they developed into, however Mr Coverdale is still one of the best frontmen in rock.
This version has everything that made 70's music awesome.
BEST version of this song!!!
Yeah
n o
Hahaha no of course:)
Get a life Dude!
David Coverdale has a believe it or not a rare sounding voice, which is suited to the blues. Good version of a good song
one of the best covers I've accidently run across... Can't stop watching or listenin"
LOVE it..... Period.
Don’t say period, eurgghhhh. Full stop 🛑
Saw this performed live at The Royal Court Theatre in Liverpool as a special encore in memory of John Lennon not long after he had been murdered.
best beatles-cover ever!!!!!
Yea!
What about this ripper from Zoot?
Enjoy (or otherwise lol)

Pretty good
Come Together from Michael Jackson or Joe Cocker are great too
I have to disagree. I think it's a terrible cover.
Jon Lord on keyboard....RIP
Oh my God! I never heard this, but it's amazing. David Coverdale is my favorite rock vocalist of all time.
"Snakebite" (WS 1st album, 77-78) is my favorite WS album, so this is really cool. The interesting thing is they actually had their own funk-blues-rock sound in the late 70s before they re-made themselves into a hair band in the 80s, and got kind of lumped together with the other hair bands.
That doctored voice style with his mouth so close to the microphone 🎤 was a very pure 70s doctored vocal sound.😉
Wow! It's a solid and deep flavor, amazing!❤
I’m 55 years old and I never knew of Whitesnake until about 1985 1986 when they were playing still of the night and their other hairband music I never knew they existed in the 70s. They were NEVER played on a rock station in Boston or providence during this time. This is a great cover! I was looking at Coverdale and was like “God he looks young and different “ 😂🔥.
Sadly music fans in the US weren’t interested in their music until the hair band crappola…..👀
In fact, that line up was disbanded by Coverdale due to pressure from their label at the time because of their inability to break into the lucrative US market.
Early Whitesnake was the best. Marsden and Moody were not only fabulous musicians, but were superb song writers who penned all of Whitesnakes hits. Including the hair band remake cover versions of “Here I go Again”, and “Crying in the Rain”. Which were released originally on the Saints and Sinners album.
They didn't play W.S. in Colorado Springs either. Too bad.
Such a phenomenal band before Coverdale went "hair metal" and got rid of Moody and Marsden.
It is still a bit hazy as to whether they left by themselves (two years apart, mind you) or if they were pushed out. Though, it seems clear that John Kalodner (of all people) had something against moustaches...
Coverdale no tuvo elección
Sykes was in between trem leaving and 87 album and getting fired himself
@@vincentstephan6558 in late 1981 David dissolved the band because of management problems with John Coletta. When Whitesnake got back together in late 82 he asked Moody to come back…
Don Sylvester fantastic musician
That man on the bass, is amazing!
Neil Murray! He also played on their 1987 album… monster bassist! 🇬🇧
From the "Trouble" album, probably their best. Before they came to the States and became just another hair band these guys were f@*%ing awesome.
Gotta' love it. Old school hippies rejoice. Love the voice box... only 3 words for you Mr.... TURN IT UP!
Gosh what a wonderful find, always loved this song as a kid.
i cant believe this even exists. amazing!!
I have played this song in this version LIVE a lot of times... and i love it!
Classic Whitesnake!
How the hell did I miss out on these guys they are FUCKING AMAZING
never too late
Asterisks my friend unless you were high when you commented . . what would your mum think of you!!
harmonies are on spot what geroge, john and paul did. great job!
has a touch of Dio in the chorus
Wowww!!! Gratamente sorprendida. Nunca había escuchado esta versión, que David Coverdale y Whitesnake lo hace de maravilla. 🤘🤘
Hey, they did a really good job with this tune. I expected some overdriven 80s metal sound that wouldn't have worked. But they didn't do that and it really sounds great.
One of my fave Beatles songs!
MARAVILHOSO! Puxa, raridade pura mesmo! Versão belíssima e perfeita! uhuuu Pérola!!
Amei, valeu mesmo por postar este video!
i really like this cover
i think its very interesting
I don't really like The Beatles, but you gotta admit, this is one of their best tunes period! And a great take on it by Whitesnake!
What a Classic Song to Remake and they made it even more a Classic!
good cover of the beatles classic, i love whitesnake and their ain't too many covers i like but i like this.
Great find by David Cook on Idol this week. He keeps this pace up he deserves to win!
whatever happened to "duck"Dowell the drummer.
This was my first whitesnake album and then Northwinds and one more solo album that I CAN'T remember the name of
Great song...Great cover of a Beatles classic.
simplesmente um cláááásssico....!!!
Very bluesy, very cool----I never heard this before--the voice box is so 70's!
Awesome a Beautiful song done by a Band that can play Beautifully a slight jazz funky metal spice THANK YOU almost little Jeff Becky solo
It the very best cover ever play.
Nice...I never heard this; I really liked Coverdale in Deep Purple...the vocals on "Burn." Incredible.
Видео действительно очень редкое. Кавер-версия битловской Day Tripper c альбома Whitesnake "Trouble" (1978)...
Спасибо, так давно его не слышала! Класс
English... please bro!
Arkady Yablokov Español porfavor hermano...
Excelente version
Great. Very, very great!
wow great, effortless, vocals from coverdale!
excellent!
Awesome rock classic remake!
I love both Plant and Coverdale singing. I do have to admit, I find there is a certain sizzle in Coverdale's singing, especially his 70s stuff, that is just SOOOO SEXY. Plant is more ethereal, to me at least. Awesome, but a little distant. Might have to do with subject matter of the songs, too.

David could make any song his own!! For the simple reason that he is a Showman in the traditional Rock style!
GREAT find! I honestly never thought I would hear another enjoyable WhiteSnake song. I'm not trashing the band, but more the radio industry that played these guys SO much in the 80s. Then playing covers of the tiring songs in cover bands - it was a little much. Looks like I need to research a bit farther back past the 80s.
Thanks!
thanks for the post.... this has been a favorite of mine for 30 some years.
And kids...stop arguing. And just enjoy.
great cover
betcha lennon loved this version
OMG
As we knew and loved them!!
Still good but never the same as back then...
Totally DOPE!!
I like this version but I also like what Dave Cook did with the song! Gotta love the voice box!
Awesome
You're right.
I tell folks that they essentially rose from the ashes of Deep Purple
I've never seen this before, thank you for posting this!
DC does not know this and I will never meet him to tell him this. He saved my life when I was 22. I was considering suicide. His music and a few other bands pulled me back and gave me a reason to live. I thank you very much.
Be strong. We are for you! Rock on! *
perfect , amazing
Damn I never thought I'd ever see a video of this. Great find.
The good old days when music was real music
I like this version - yes its funky rock and very their own - that's ok. Nice and raunchy - good interpretation.
Christ, this IS rare! Amazing to think, too, that Coverdale wasn't always crap. In fact, for a few years he was damn good.
Killer cover, put their own stamp on it, nice groove
Love the video.I used to think this was the original so warped is my musical taste
Fantastic!
Cheers from Rio!
What a great feel to this!
What a brilliant version. The old school Whitesnake with Moody and Torme still had a certain something. Fantastic stuff. Thanks so much.
Torme was with gillan
Bernie Marsden and mick moody
Pure gold, here.
Just happened to look for covers of Day Tripper. This is great!
Fantastic version !!! The Beatles still Rule !!! Best guitar riff of all time !!!
Fantastic. I love it.
there's always a b-side to every tune. I've been very fortunate to hear this one. Coverdale has to give cudos to Lord and Pace though
Why does this band have any other name than Coverdale? There's been almost 20 different members.
+aLifewarrior At this stage WS were an actual band. It only started turning into the Coverdale show in the mid 80s. They were only a 'proper' band for about 5 years, so I can totally understand your point.
Hope DC will release this on a 'Whitesnake Thru The Years' dvd collection along with the BBC OG Whistle Test stuff..LFJ
Cool... I like this version.... It works well....
Wow! I've been listening to WS since I was 18 and I never knew they did this cover. Can find anything on YT. It's pretty dang good thanks for posting. IMO TON did it BEST!! :-}~
Perfect. Cheers
1978
One of my firat albums(12" black disk with grooves.)
Great video, awesome, just awesome
Great cover Dave !
listen to the music and invent your own sound.
wow never heard this version before!
A great Vid Thats my mate Dave Duck Dowel on drums. He was In a band called 'Curly' who giged at the Red Lion pub in Watford. It was a great venue.
Thank you for sharing 🙏🏻
This is bad ass I saw this video about a year ago and forgot to thank you. Peace this rocks!
Hey litolirio!
Thank you very much =)
I'm glad you liked.
Cheers.
considering the Beatles recorded this at least two decades earlier, they probably didn't have access to the upgrade in technology, so it stands to reason they could make a better cover than the original version, but the main theme still belongs to the greatest rock band that was ever created. "The Beatles"
It came out in 1965 a decade earlier, this was recorded in 1978.
@@clucknorriz6683 Thank you. I am corrected!
Great version
Que bom!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Amei!!
This sounds cool, I love The Beatles btw.
h the guitar and the voice- just great!
Best line-up (Duck Dowle sounds great). Early line-ups usually are (Genesis, Sabbath, Yes etc, etc.).
Great version of the Beatles classic! Thanks for posting this.
One of the best Beatles-Covers ever!!! Same Quality as the "Come Together" Cover by "Gotthart"
Joe Cocker did a nice one as well, with some help from his friends.
not to shabby. i like it.
This is from the '70's and that's John Lord from Deep Purple on B3/keys.
