My mom used to buy black carrot cake for me and papa when I was young on Sundays when there was no school. Only papa and I have a sweet tooth. Later I also started liking white carrot cake. Now I like both so the one you had would be a wonderful choice. Best of both worlds.

Green signboard riverside stall has good orh jian and light/dark ckt too - if sweet ckt too jelak, light Penang ckt would refresh your palate. And the cilantros are only for orh Jian and orh neng.. but shallots mixed in during lard rendering makes the lard bits and menu items wonderful

Followed by the fish soup, mee rebus, duck rice, kway chap, meesiam stalls. Many are old school taste. Theres also the wanton mee, carrot cake, chicken rice, claypot and banmian stalls which are not bad. Then end of with the traditional dessert stall haha
personally, I don't like the carrot cake and char kway teow at Zion. Prefer 22 Havelock L-shape hawker char kway teow, that one really got wok hey. Zion char kway teow eat too much will feel gelat. For carrot cake, prefer Wang Bu Liao Carrot cake at Bukit Merah View hawker. Maybe your next challenge could be at either 22 Havelock L-shape hawker or Bukit Merah View hawker. Bukit Merah View hawker is damn huge, confirm $100 is not enough.
When I go to Zion road 🛣️ food center the only stall I aim is Number 18 Zion road Fried Kwey Teow lol .. definitely worth the trip down and the cholesterol 😅
