He really understands Beethoven -- the Sturm und Drang, the rhythmic ambiguities, the almost "meta" playfulness that just causes me to break out in a big smile, the unexpected tenderness. One of the best Beethoven pianists I've heard in a long time.
Pavel, I just discovered that you have recorded one of my favorite Beethoven's variations. I truly enjoyed it! Each variation has a different articulation, color, tonality, expression and feeling...A beautiful tapestry weaved with the most spiritual feeling from your fingers. Thanks!
bravo but if i may suggest , the 5th variation was really fast , i would slow it down if i were you and it was too staccato at the end of this variation . also , the 6th variation was a little bit slow . the 4th and 6th variations should be at the same tempo the rest was just amazing
Parait plus fragile en comparaison à l´ expression de Gilels, mais on n´a pas toujours envie de se faire labourer l´âme et les tympans et celle de Pavel nous montre un Beethoven moins agressif.
This piece is truly amazing!

"Hats off", as Schumann said. This is an excellent pianist! An interpretation with great taste.
