That is NOT a Celtic Knot...... that is an INFINITE LOOP!!!! Fantastic...... Dad trained me in woodworking and Mom trained me in MATH! I need to make this! Mind blowing!
Lewis, I've watched only one person do the Celtic knots before. Huw at Wooden-it-be-nice. But he was doing pens! He struggled with the small size for sure. Watching this larger one, now it actually makes sense 😆 to me. Thanks for sharing your creativity with me again. Stay safe, Vickie
Wow, outstanding work on this project. Not being a geography wizard, I had to watch the video twice to figure out how the Celtic knot curves work out. great work
Lewis, I absolutely love that rolling pin!! I am honored my friend! Thank you very much for the gift and the shoutout! Man, that came out beautiful! Can’t wait to use it, thanks again Lewis!👍🏻👍🏻
Absolutely gorgeous rolling pin, Lewis. You always make everything look so easy, my friend. Even that little skate turned out better in my opinion than it was before. Lovely job!! 👍👍👍😃😃😃
Well done on many fronts. The rolling pin is amazing! The jig you came up with was amazing, too. Thanks for sharing that one, it was very entertaining and educational!
Lewis.....I wish i could like and subscribe more than once! That rolling pin is just gorgeous....WAY to beautiful to use! My hat is off to you for leaving the boo boos in the video. I have to wonder.....how many youtube turners wouldve edited those out? In my opinion, those things add honesty, and integrity to your work. Well done sir! Bruce....you are one lucky individual to be recieving this piece! Congrats!
I think I have threaded more practice pieces with a skew. I haven't got the nerve up to try it on a nice piece yet. Some day. Turned out great and enjoyed as always, Dave.
Hello, thanks for the great and detailled explanation! I'm making a yarn holder for my mother. I thought it would be a nice experiment to make it with a Celtic knot. I'am following your steps and I think the result will be very nice. Again thanks for charing and greetings from the Netherlands!
Oh !...well that was interesting...that was the skew you were working with ?...I didn't know it would do that...could be useful in other design needs..cool... Beautiful finished piece...🌿🌿🌿
nicely done, made lots of celtic knots myself. my favourite is a 6 loop in a pen. the six loop knot is done the same way but with a hexagonal blank. for a pen blank i use my bandsaw to cut the kerfs
@@TheKlondikeCraftsman we just got back from there, i grewup in fredericton, my parents are there and i have sisters in doaktown and st john. we were in nb and pei for 6 weeks
Hi Lewis, That is a beautiful rolling pin and I'm sure Bruce will love it. I have followed Bruce for a very long time and his is a great person. You are the firs person I have seen make a rolling pin this way in not cutting all the way through. It is the only way to make sure the alignment is true in the rings and it is how I make my Celtic Knot pens. Great way of making the sled as well. I will probably have a go at making one of these in the future. Take care Lewis. Cheers, Huw PS The tip for starting the cut, at the same end, is so important. Please don't ask how I found that out for myself. LOL.
Very nice 👍 question: have you experienced any problems with wood movement? I know that it is not 100 % opposite, but it is not running in the same direction either. But perhaps it doesn't matter ?
Well done. I wasn't sure about the jig...to start the kerf, did you use your mark or have the piece against a block? I like the glue up, having the blank bigger than the cut. Is your plan available on paper, or article?
@@TheKlondikeCraftsman thanks. I made 2 rolling pins and they look good, except I don't know why the ends of the knots are not perfectly aligned. Still, friends who see the pins don't seem to notice. Thanks for the inspiration!
Never mind, I think I’ve detected the flaw in my logic. I think you’d need an X shaped cradle to alternate angles, but am I wrong in thinking that would cut the build time down significantly?
I cut one at a time to eliminate any movement that could occur in the second cut as there is only 1/4 holding it together. Also the insert wouldn’t slide past rash other. It really isn’t a long wait time between cuts especially if you are doing a few at a time. Thanks for watching Frank!
I appreciate the concern but watching from above might make it look close when in fact it is no where near the spindle. The spindle is lower than my elbows and my hair is above my shoulders. Thanks for watching!
If you and your partner are engaging in playful or humorous behavior, such as putting a lampshade on your head, it could be seen as a lighthearted moment between the two of you. However, if your wife's reaction of chasing you with a rolling pin causes you discomfort or distress, it is important to address your feelings and concerns with her in a calm and honest manner.
Aaw! Nice recovery Klondike. Clever stuff. Very well done. Love it. Best regards.
Beware if the skew! Haha. Thank you for watching John!
beautiful, enjoy watching this lovely creation. makes me think I should upgrade from my rolling pin wine bottle! LOL
Thank you Kathryn! Upgrades are always good!
Wow, that was really interesting! Very nicely done. I said a couple of ‘choice’ words on your behalf when the skew chisel skated though! 🤭.
Thank you Jeanie! I was surprisingly calm haha.
Totally awesome as always Klondike Lewis 👍👍👍
Thanks Rob!
Great job Lewis!

@@TheKlondikeCraftsman the only tricky part is getting a perfect hexagon, but a decent tablesaw makes that easy. are you in new brunswick?
Yes I am

Very nice sir

Very nice 👍 question: have you experienced any problems with wood movement? I know that it is not 100 % opposite, but it is not running in the same direction either. But perhaps it doesn't matter ?
Any movement is so minor that it doesn’t affect use. You cannot let them stay wet. Thank you for watching!
Hello, GREAT rolling Pin, One question, Where do you get that Hut Wax? I looked on Amazon and at Woodcraft, but can not find it. Thank you Ron
I get it online from hut products. Thanks for watching Ron!
Well done. I wasn't sure about the jig...to start the kerf, did you use your mark or have the piece against a block?
I like the glue up, having the blank bigger than the cut.
Is your plan available on paper, or article?
Hi Wesley. Sorry I don’t have anything on paper. I do have the piece against a stop. Thanks for watching!

Couldn’t you have knocked out 2 cuts at a time had you left the saw kerf intact on the same side?
Never mind, I think I’ve detected the flaw in my logic. I think you’d need an X shaped cradle to alternate angles, but am I wrong in thinking that would cut the build time down significantly?
