Truthfully I have more fun with the bullshit of mkx than I do with the more balanced game of mk11. I just enjoy the flashy combos and run cancels and the speed of mkx and putting people through the blender of mix or hard to blockables. I think that’s true for 99% of the people who play at a mid to slightly above average level.
Aside from what you mention, there is also a huge part of general mechanics that are superior in terms of design and functionality, which are part of what makes MKX good as a game. Of course the meter system isnt ideal, but it is still better than what it is in MK11. All other systems like wake-up options, X-Rays, interactables, AA, jailing, d2 on block punishing, are satisfying, unlike in MK11.

I don’t know what everybody else is going to do but I’m playing MKX and other games. You will never see me on mk11 no matter how many patches or characters were added.. The engine and design is trash!!! No fixing that.

Its almost as if NRS games have always been scrubfests. They only care about casual players and honestly its not worth grinding their games. Until NRS shows they care about their competitive community we should all just go play something else.
What you have refused to see, is that the moment MK11 ended up on respiratory choking on its own neutral vomit made by this and that, MKX was resurrected like Jesus on the 3rd day. Minority were playing MKX while whole scene had hopes for MK11s fix. With the time, and NRS's business plan on moving on, people started to jump of that sinking ship and back to the MKX raft. Plus the miracle that Capcom pulled off, was a big "dude, wtf" a nail to the MK11 coffin.

Tom makes good points but miss diagnoses the problem. MKXL DID NOT DIE Because of 1 Tournament scene. It died when INJUSTICE 2 was released in 2017. This is a manufactured NRS Problem because they want to make money off BOTH Fandoms every 2 years instead of every 4 years. That's why the DLC in MK is always INJUSTICE Characters. And INJUSTICE 2 had Subzero and Scorpion as DLC. The issues aren't from MK people about MK, its from MK AND INJUSTICE PEOPLE About MK. OR the Reverse. And that's why we are never HAPPY WITH THE GAME. You can't even tell the difference in the ending screen of INJUSTICE 2 and MK11. They are practically the same. And they play similarly as well. MKX annd MK9 dont have that BS. MK9 wasn't even FUN! Its just that there was NO MONEY IN IT AT THE TIME so people played only IF THEY WANTED TO PLAY. While all newer releases have MONEY INVOLVED. Tom, Reo and the boys always seem to only focus on tournament scenes IRL and NOT ONLINE. Its one of the reason no took Ninjakilla serious UNTIL he won an OFFLINE TOURNY. Its a BIAS because thats there scene. MK11 isn't even being played because its better than MKXor INJUSTICE 2. Its played because NRS is yet to release INJUSTICE 3 which is likely going to have MK CHARACTERS IN THAT AS WELL!!! MK9 and MKX felt unique in how they both played. THEY FELT Like FIGHTING GAMES. MK11 DOES NOT because they focus more on having all the Customization from INJUSTICE for MICRO TRANSACTIONS TO MAKE MONEY and thought of the ACTUAL Game play 2nd or 3rd. MK9 and MKX were 1 patch away from being perfect but MK11 NEEDS AN ENTIRE OVERHAUL TO FIX WITH ALL ITS MECHANICS! These are not the same.
What I just hate about mkx after going back to it is that u feel so frame trap at times I perfectly block a combo string from someone and the still punish me when the hell can I get my turn back something that mk11 gave us but then again they didn’t do it right and it’s too much defense to the point. Where the roles are now reverse.

Play the games you like. I dropped MK11 a bit after KP1 and picked it up when KP2 came out. I ended up dropping it cus its still slow af and not fun. Being a Shao and Kano main doesnt help. Im excited about Virtua Fighter tho.

I never played MKX, but I don't see why anyone would want to play a mix-up game. How is it fun getting mixed all day? So every other character is an MK11 Sub-Zero? Hell no, I'm good.
MKX was alot more fun than MK11 but you cannot say that their character balances (for its time) was solid. That final moment leaving a sour taste for the viewers/fans, that was preventable.

IDC about that. The game is still more fun than MK11 and I can play it without falling asleep. Go back 1 patch and SZ would do plenty in that mu. While for many at that time the final patch of MKX really killed the game, that version of the game is still more enjoyable than MK11.

@@thelonesomewanderer8359 both are good games, but each has flaws... MKX favors spamming more 50/50 mixups without consequence. MK11 has a better balance of offense and defense and a richer neutral game. MKX by nature has a faster pace, but that doesn't make the game better at all, just different pacing. You seem to be forgetting all the criticism MKX got back when it was the main game.
I liked playing balanced kenshi. Not a great character he had zoning, armor, some usable normals but they gutted his whole playstyle with sweeping armor removal
Maybe it's not the answer, but it's going to be a hint for them to realize that if nothing is done to revive MK11, more people will be dropping it. Other than that, I'm having so much fun with MKX and MK9 too!!
They're not gonna change anything regarding mk11 no matter what because why would they. The game is not profitable anymore, it's already over 2 years old, I bet they're just focusing on their next game.
Reality is, they don't profit in any way, shape or form from people actually clocking hours in the game. And if they release a DLC, they will get some good sells on it regardless of the state of the game balance-wise. Especially if there is some guest character to lure new players in.
Let me know (that means post an update if you can) If the ranked still works in MK9. I know server's are still there I semi regularly play private matches on 360 but I couldn't find any randoms.

Sometimes I like your takes, but this is a terrible one. Basically what you are saying is that If the community banned alien prior to that tournament MKX would have been the greatest game they ever made. (Which it is btw) so banning one character is what completely invalidates your side of the argument? Mkx is incredible - Mk11 is boring trash with EXTREME LAZINESS from the devs. It was a cash grab with extremely lazy development.
MKX has a lot of valid criticisms as both games do, in MKX there are STILL damn near broken characters and mechanics that people don't care about because we've been playing it for 6 years. I do also think MKX is their best game but MK11 is nowhere near trash, I feel like people say that because its the newest one and people still have high opinions and nostalgia based from MKX. One of the only reasons people hate on MK11 because its wildly more balanced than MKX will ever be, and also due to the zoning that is s big part of the game. At the end of the day though, the biggest complaint I have with the game is how horrible NRS is with transparency with literally anything game news related.

I disagree that SonicFox could have used Alien from start and 3-0ed Tekken Master. We've seen Tekken Master play for so long and we know he's a counter picker. SonicFox knew this! So the last game was the perfect time to bring out Alien as Tekken Master had to stick with Blood God. As far as MKXL not being the answer, well it is for me. I played MKXL from my friends PC and really got into MK. When MK11 came out I bought the game and regretted it. I went back to MKXL and I can still play for hours. It is hype! There are new things I've learnt only recently!! Most of all, IT'S FUN TO WATCH! FYI: NRS filled MK11 with crushing blows, free X-Rays to try to make it fun for casuals. MKXL didn't need that. Combos are sick, players must be responsible with meter usage, etc. And people say there're no footsies in the game but that's bcos MKXL allows a wide array of game styles and requires very good reactions to play footsies. Since most people don't have that they just run at each other. But watch the top players and you'll see it!
This is unintentionally funny. For Me as well as a lot of other guilty gear fans, Strive is Xrd what MK11 is to MKX. A watered down, more restrictive, annoying game. That’s exactly what’s going to happen. I love MK11, but it’s boring now because we’re just stuck doing the same damn thing all the time. If they just go ahead and make every equippable special move 1 slot, and tweak the breakaway system, MK11 will come back to life and be so hype.
Personnaly I've already move to another game => Guilty Gear Strive I'm done with the radio silence and Ed Trolling Boon. The community put MK11 Ultimate game of the year 2020 and the dev still disrespectfull with their communication. So for me it's a big NO for MK9 MKX and MK11.
Get rid of variations and bring back mk9 dash cancels. Hire some testers that will actually attempt to resolve balance issues before it gets to that boring state in fun factor.

I never played X until recently as 11 was my first Nrs game so I have my bias’, but I can definitely see the why people prefer it. I literally spent an hour labbing kenshi combos just for the sake of it because I found it so fun.
I disagree, mkx was still a good game, every fighting game has its problems, its the meta and pacing of mkx that makes it fun, and if the player base wasn't split I think it could still stand on its own.

I liked MK11 more than Mkx and definately more than Injustice 2. I like the slower pace fighting you can actually see the mixups and react. Mkx and Injustice 2 you had to memorize the patterns, the games were just way too fast for me, can't react to the mixups till this day. It's the reason why I also love SFV over SF4, SFV is slower paced, I. Can actually see the mixups a d react to them. But that's just me.

Tom competitive play is not the reason people are coming back to MKX (at least not me) it's because MKX has lots of fun and creativity whereas MK11 does not. Competitive players or not we are gamers at the end of the day and we want to have fun playing a game.
The answer is for players to stop always complaining about every little thing and just play the game. Small tweaks here and there are fine but people are never satisfied

The BS of MK9 was the best and did have better system alike the wake up system and meter system were really good. I’d take MKX over MK11 though.

What you have refused to see, is that the moment MK11 ended up on respiratory choking on its own neutral vomit made by this and that, MKX was resurrected like Jesus on the 3rd day. Minority were playing MKX while whole scene had hopes for MK11s fix. With the time, and NRS's business plan on moving on, people started to jump of that sinking ship and back to the MKX raft. Plus the miracle that Capcom pulled off, was a big "dude, wtf" a nail to the MK11 coffin.

Tom makes good points but miss diagnoses the problem. MKXL DID NOT DIE Because of 1 Tournament scene. It died when INJUSTICE 2 was released in 2017.
This is a manufactured NRS Problem because they want to make money off BOTH Fandoms every 2 years instead of every 4 years. That's why the DLC in MK is always INJUSTICE Characters.
And INJUSTICE 2 had Subzero and Scorpion as DLC. The issues aren't from MK people about MK, its from MK AND INJUSTICE PEOPLE About MK. OR the Reverse. And that's why we are never HAPPY WITH THE GAME.
You can't even tell the difference in the ending screen of INJUSTICE 2 and MK11. They are practically the same. And they play similarly as well. MKX annd MK9 dont have that BS.
MK9 wasn't even FUN! Its just that there was NO MONEY IN IT AT THE TIME so people played only IF THEY WANTED TO PLAY. While all newer releases have MONEY INVOLVED.
Tom, Reo and the boys always seem to only focus on tournament scenes IRL and NOT ONLINE. Its one of the reason no took Ninjakilla serious UNTIL he won an OFFLINE TOURNY. Its a BIAS because thats there scene.
MK11 isn't even being played because its better than MKXor INJUSTICE 2. Its played because NRS is yet to release INJUSTICE 3 which is likely going to have MK CHARACTERS IN THAT AS WELL!!!
MK9 and MKX felt unique in how they both played. THEY FELT Like FIGHTING GAMES. MK11 DOES NOT because they focus more on having all the Customization from INJUSTICE for MICRO TRANSACTIONS TO MAKE MONEY and thought of the ACTUAL Game play 2nd or 3rd.
MK9 and MKX were 1 patch away from being perfect but MK11 NEEDS AN ENTIRE OVERHAUL TO FIX WITH ALL ITS MECHANICS! These are not the same.
What I just hate about mkx after going back to it is that u feel so frame trap at times I perfectly block a combo string from someone and the still punish me when the hell can I get my turn back something that mk11 gave us but then again they didn’t do it right and it’s too much defense to the point. Where the roles are now reverse.

I never played MKX, but I don't see why anyone would want to play a mix-up game. How is it fun getting mixed all day? So every other character is an MK11 Sub-Zero? Hell no, I'm good.
MKX was alot more fun than MK11 but you cannot say that their character balances (for its time) was solid. That final moment leaving a sour taste for the viewers/fans, that was preventable.

MKX favors spamming more 50/50 mixups without consequence. MK11 has a better balance of offense and defense and a richer neutral game. MKX by nature has a faster pace, but that doesn't make the game better at all, just different pacing.

I liked playing balanced kenshi. Not a great character he had zoning, armor, some usable normals but they gutted his whole playstyle with sweeping armor removal

They're not gonna change anything regarding mk11 no matter what because why would they. The game is not profitable anymore, it's already over 2 years old, I bet they're just focusing on their next game.
Reality is, they don't profit in any way, shape or form from people actually clocking hours in the game. And if they release a DLC, they will get some good sells on it regardless of the state of the game balance-wise. Especially if there is some guest character to lure new players in.

MKX has a lot of valid criticisms as both games do, in MKX there are STILL damn near broken characters and mechanics that people don't care about because we've been playing it for 6 years. I do also think MKX is their best game but MK11 is nowhere near trash, I feel like people say that because its the newest one and people still have high opinions and nostalgia based from MKX. One of the only reasons people hate on MK11 because its wildly more balanced than MKX will ever be, and also due to the zoning that is s big part of the game. At the end of the day though, the biggest complaint I have with the game is how horrible NRS is with transparency with literally anything game news related.

I disagree that SonicFox could have used Alien from start and 3-0ed Tekken Master. We've seen Tekken Master play for so long and we know he's a counter picker. SonicFox knew this! So the last game was the perfect time to bring out Alien as Tekken Master had to stick with Blood God. As far as MKXL not being the answer, well it is for me. I played MKXL from my friends PC and really got into MK. When MK11 came out I bought the game and regretted it. I went back to MKXL and I can still play for hours. It is hype! There are new things I've learnt only recently!! Most of all, IT'S FUN TO WATCH!
FYI: NRS filled MK11 with crushing blows, free X-Rays to try to make it fun for casuals. MKXL didn't need that. Combos are sick, players must be responsible with meter usage, etc. And people say there're no footsies in the game but that's bcos MKXL allows a wide array of game styles and requires very good reactions to play footsies. Since most people don't have that they just run at each other. But watch the top players and you'll see it!

I liked MK11 more than Mkx and definately more than Injustice 2. I like the slower pace fighting you can actually see the mixups and react. Mkx and Injustice 2 you had to memorize the patterns, the games were just way too fast for me, can't react to the mixups till this day. It's the reason why I also love SFV over SF4, SFV is slower paced, I. Can actually see the mixups a d react to them. But that's just me.

Tom competitive play is not the reason people are coming back to MKX (at least not me) it's because MKX has lots of fun and creativity whereas MK11 does not. Competitive players or not we are gamers at the end of the day and we want to have fun playing a game.
The answer is for players to stop always complaining about every little thing and just play the game. Small tweaks here and there are fine but people are never satisfied

@@MrRBX You can critique a game and tell them what you don't like, but a lot of you have been doing this for years and its quite clear that NRS aren't listening because they already have their direction for the game. The only thing they need to be concerned with are technical issues at this point. If mechanics are your issue or your character isn't as good as they were in the last game, just find another game.
Honestly let them be done with mk11 plz put this shit in a dumpster and give us a great mk in 2025.
If u really want a better game stop trying to create a anti NRS movement. Tge more ppl dont play the less money and reason they have to fix the game. If your not the solution your just another problem
