Nice video Steve, we used to go past the Waterloo when arriving for our holidays, until they opened the m55. Now I know they're putting punk bands on I shall have to tie my yearly visit in with a gig there as well! Yet again, learnt something from your vids!!!👍
Great video Stephen, a friend of mine played in the Waterloo tournament some years ago, he qualified through the county knockout to play there, suffice to say he was knocked out in the first round, great day out though and there was bookmakers there taking bets too.👍

The Wembley of Bowling, I've gone to this venue for years, playing in The Waterloo tournaments and watching tournaments there, I hope they manage to keep it going.
No more crown green bowling to be held here again.A mate of mine took a video a couple of weeks ago through the same gate as you did Stephen.What a state it's in now.It was all to do with the landlord & the lease.Like you said in the video they did raise the money for the repairs but it became political then.Anyway the "new Waterloo" is going to be held in Fleetwood this coming September.Can't remember the exact date.The green is situated just around the corner from the North Euston hotel.The green has a high brick wall around it & a lot of work is being done to it in preparation for September.I will be coming over with some friends of mine.

It is astounding that they cant start bowling again this summer. Surely it would not be a huge task to recommence? Even in a limited socially distanced way. Come on guys. Get started.
Sadly, all the efforts to save the Waterloo bowling green have been in vain. The money was raised to pay for the repairs, the work was signed off to be completed, then the landlord decided he didn't want to give more than a 10 year lease. That was 50% short of what was needed to make the Waterloo a going concern again, so the effort has been abandoned. It'll soon be flats (allegedly).....

our club hired the green for the day a few years back lovely green to play on and we had a meal in the hotel afterwards.
I never knew there was a football terrace at a bowling green!
