    This week we travel to Hanoi, Vietnam for the first time.
    I checked into Concon House, a new boutique hotel in the heart of Hanoi's old quarter. It was quiet, clean, peaceful and everything you could need for a relaxing stay in such a busy area.
    On my first day in Hanoi I decided to have Banh Mi for breakfast at a nearby stall followed by two cups of Vietnamese coffee at C.O.C. coffee legacy. It was a perfect way to start my morning. The banh mi was stuffed with a heaping amount of greens and a generous serving of chicken sandwiched in between a perfectly toasted slice of bread. Egg coffee surprisingly didn't taste like what I expected it to. It wasn't sweet or salty, instead, it added a perfect balance to the strong flavor profile of the coffee. Personally, the coffee with milk was my favorite as someone with a sweet tooth.
    After breakfast and coffee I set off to take photos of Mural Street. It wasn't too far as everything in the old quarter is walkable but boy did I sweat going there. Humidity in Hanoi is no joke and before long I was drenched so I made my way to May Kitchenware (that doubles as a cafe) and spent a good chunk of my morning just cooling off.
    For lunch I ate my first bowl of pho and it was everything I expected it to be. Delicious, fresh and inexpensive. Would I recommend you guys to head there too? Definitely!
    Afterwards I spent the early afternoon resting in my hotel room plotting out how my afternoon and evening would go. My main objective was to see train street in all its glory so I set off to see the 5:30 train that didn't come until 7:15....but it was worth the wait. Afterwards I just walked around the main street near Hoa Kiem lake and called it a night.
    For my second day in Hanoi I was determined to see as many sights as I could. Breakfast was a light meal at Blackbird Coffee followed by a Grab taxi ride to the Temple of Literature, Hoa Kiem Lake's temple and Saint Joseph's Cathedral.
    Lunch was a generous serving of Bun Cha at the hotel followed by a mid-day shower to cool off.
    Dinner included a stroll around a local park, ice cream by a household name and another cafe. Dinner was mud fish (a delicacy) that was surprisingly tasting and overly filling. What followed was a relaxing cup of kombucha to pass the time before heading to Binh Minh Jazz club. Probably the highlight of my trip if you ask me.
    On my last day in Hanoi, I took it easy with brunch at Hanoi Social Club, a taxi ride to an AEON Mall to buy souvenirs, a spa treatment outside my hotel and wandering through thrift stores in the old quarter.
    Overall my trip to Vietnam was so much more than I could have ever thought it would be. I'll be back for sure 💕

    Hanoi is super charming and solo travel friendly! I've gone twice and cannot wait to go back. Vietnam in general holds a special place in my heart...it was my first stop in my first ever solo travel almost 9 years back (Saigon- Phnom Penh-Siem Reap) and I can't forget how kind, gentle, and eager the Vietnamese folks were to show and share their country. 💜
    Your vid shows how much has changed and yet it still has retained its old town charm. Would certainly try some of the new cafes you featured and the hotel too! Thanks for this video! It made me wanna go back stat!

    Great video of Hanoi, one of the better ones. Just the right balance of verbal comments, music and nice video footages. I agree the cafe culture in VN is on another level, from abundance, to affordability, to unique and distinct cafe exterior and interior decor instead of the stale and sterilize Starbucks we have here in the US, the patrons are true locals doing daily things too. That train street is wild but cool. I remember how it was strange for me to feel so energized and exhilarating while also feeling so calm and serene in those small cafes and villa eateries with courtyards or sitting on the benches around the lakes and especially in The Temple of Literature.

    I absolutely love that you went to so many cafes as I think they have so many awesome ones in Hanoi (and Vietnam in general). I've seen plenty of the Note Cafe and the Hidden Gem, but the ones you went to were just as great in their own way (BTW, saw a couple go to Nola Cafe and it's cool as well). Such a great video of so many different things to do there. Next time, you can try to do a food tour (maybe more than one to see what different companies offer) or do a cooking class. They also have motorcycle tours that I saw Living the Jo Life do in their latest video (there's a jeep version if you don't want to ride the motorcycle). The water puppet show is different if you're looking for something cultural to do.

    Hi! My friends and I are going to Hanoi on September. When you say tripods are not allowed in some places, can I just hide it inside my bag? Or are they going to check and confiscate it? ☺️

    • @heidisarol
      @heidisarol  Рік тому

      Hi Jay! Enjoy your trip! From my experience they told me to get rid of it, that there weren't any places to store it but I don't think theyll go as far as to confiscate it so maybe best to leave it at home for certain attractions :)
