Thank you. I watched your video yesterday and did it today. I used a fence panel with a pallet fastened today with concrete blocks on top. I connected the towing cable to the back of my pickup truck tow ball. It actually worked. I smoothed out the yard. Thank you.
Thanks and yeah it worked pretty darn slick...better than I thought it would actually. Lil Boss man has been checking every morning for signs of new grass....lol
Looking good bud you need to see if you can find a good starter fertilized to throw Down with your seed. Looks like you are well on your way to maybe buying a reel mower with how flat you have that thing lol. What kind of seed did you put down?
Good idea😊 I have built a box blade/yard leveler with a sheet of plywood with 4x4s under It in the shape of a V. I put 2 rows of the V shape and closed in the sides with 2x4 so the dirt would gather between the 2 chambers dropping in the low spots. The front V took out the high spots. This also worked fantastic with concrete blocks loaded on top of it but I had to pull it with the four wheeler.
I'm about to be putting down grass seed myself. I've had good luck smoothing ground with the cheap cattle panels that tractor supply sells, just throw a few old tires on top for weight
I've got an old piece of chain link fence I drag behind my JD. I threw a pallet on top of it, and then some cinder blocks on the pallet. Keeps the pallet from digging in, and the blocks from digging through the fencing.
With over 5k in subs we just saved you a fist full of cash.. Now Mrs back40 can go get some makeup or what ever suits her fancy with the cash.. Hahaha Looking good on the yard..
I think you just saved me $200 and I’m gonna use an old pallet tomorrow to try and move some dirt piles around with my riding mower. Probably saved my back a bit too! Cheers
If the amount of rain you get the day after seeding has anything to do with how well the grass will grow I should be fine...lol....it has rained ALL day here.
Yeah that worked very well; we've used a pallet before, including after the seed was broadcast to mix it in just enough, but i'm sure a rake was even more effective.
I was gonna use the wire again after the seed was down but was afraid it might drag it off some areas so just hand dragged a rake to turn it up a bit....the pallet box blade tho worked great!
@@digbyodell2924 it's nice and soaked...yeah that rain just didn't stop ALL day, but like ya said at least it wasn't a downpour and was just a nice steady rain. I have a feeling I'm gonna need to wait a few extra days now before I can get any more delivered.
It’s nice seeing another dad out there with a kid who likes sitting on his lap while he drives the tractor out in the yard. Core memories right there!

That was a really good idea to use that stuff to level that out. Atta boy little boss man on spreading out some grass seed👍👍!! Stay safe!

YOU ARE AMAZING! That is an outstanding job!
I have always used the chain link fence approach. It works well when top dressing with sand. Take care brother
Yeah that roll of fence wire worked out pretty good...have a good one my friend!
Worked out well 👍👍
Yes indeed it did....actually better than I thought but I think the combination of the 2 was the ticket!
I enjoyed that. Thanks Shifty!
My pleasure!....glad you enjoyed....thanks!
Nice improvised yard zamboni!
Thanks....lol, yard zamboni I like that, might call it that next time I use it! hahahahaha

Thanks...yeah I'm looking up what & when to add fertilizer. So far the day after seeding has been rain ALL day so it's getting plenty of water...lol
Looks like it worked out great.
We'll have Scheib monitor the situation🍺
lol...Yep I'm gonna get him on a video consultation call once I see green sprouts poke thru! 😎😆🍻
@@Back40Firewood you know what would be cool is to have a 2 way livestream

Hey Emil....how are ya my friend....good seein ya here first!! 😎👍🍻

American ingenuity at its finest! Great video, my new favorite channel.!!👍🏻
Thanks...welcome to the channel and the Back 40 community my friend!
Both welded wire and pallet worked surprisingly well! Nicely done.
Thanks 👍 Yeah I was a bit surprised with the results myself...lol
Nice ideas.
Good evening Sir, great team work with your son ( daddy, son quality time ! )👌😉👍 Great works Cheers !!! 👍🌞
Thanks 👍
I'm facing the same problem now.
That turned out really nice. Little Boss Man being a good little helper!👍🏻
Thanks...oh yeah, lil B was helping where he could....now I'm hoping he'll be as excited to mow it some day...hahaha
TRY PUTTING SOME WOOD OR A 6X6 IN THE CENTER OF THE ROLL OF WIRE... JUST A THOUGHT
Hi George. I guess you didn't watch video till end!
Yep I actually did throw a few old 4x4s in....tried 2 but that seemed to be almost too much weight. Worked good with just 1 in the center of the roll.
Chain the pallet to the green machine and then chain the wire roll to the pallet, all in one pass!! That worked out nice!
Now you're talking...hopefully the little Green Machine can handle that...lol....I'll try that on the next area that's a bit bigger for sure.
The best I've seen. Great idea and looks like just what I need. What gauge of wire did you use? Thanks so much for the video!
looked like that worked quiet well, good vid thanks

@@Back40Firewood : too late you know she has already seen it and is thinking.. Hahaha..
Worked out quite well, B-40. Saved on money spent and got the job done like a pro.
Exactly...worked out better than I thought....thanks!
Nice job BK4ty. That worked out good .Have a great Sunday all. Later Dude😁
Yeah, worked out better than I thought buddy...now it's getting a good rain today so all good.
Good job. May have to steal this idea..haha.

Nice. How'd it work out?
@@MikeOrazzi worked perfectly. I actually need to do it once again now that I redid the sprinklers.
@@StephenDiSchino Cool.
Looks good Dan. Should have some grass growing in no time.

Practicing your Zamboni skills! Must be natural to the people in Wisconsin. Looks great!
Hahahahaha....well never watched much hockey. I think it's more from driving a hay rake around the hay field when I was growing up on the farm.
Perfect! Both ideas with the pallet and the wire worked well together! I think that will come in nicely Dan! Did that area take the whole bag of seed?
Thanks...worked out even better than I thought. I've got about 1/3 of the bag left. I may have put it on a little thick...lol
That worked out really nice. I think the combination of the two did it good. Be careful not to start a lawn mower war. Stay well.
Yep you're right about that ....the 2 together worked really well....lol, no mower wars for me!
👍👍👍
Love your pallet creativity. They can be used for anything if you put your mind to it 👍
Absolutely!! I use them all the time for all kinds of stuff...I love coming up with different uses for them.
The fence worked great. The pallet also. But the fence was the ticket.
Yep, that roll of fence really sifted thru and did the trick.
Yeah that worked very well; we've used a pallet before, including after the seed was broadcast to mix it in just enough, but i'm sure a rake was even more effective.

I will definitely have to keep that pallet idea in my mind that worked very well
Yep, just may need a little weight on it so it doesn't just float on the top of the dirt but otherwise it worked great!
That was impressive!
Thanks...👍
Morning wood hounds
Good morning....well, afternoon/evening now....hahahaha...either way good seeing ya Wood Hound!!
