Creativity is lost in the modern internet. Big companies want employees to be replaceable. People who have The Vision, people who play with technology, people who have a passion - big companies don't want this people to work for them. Big companies hire people who will obey every stupidity without complains. This is why big companies can't create anything new. We have to support small companies, but not those who will sell themselves to the big ones. Small business - yes, but startups - no.
It will fail to make an impact in the long-term because people are getting sick of social media and the anger and depression it causes in general. The future for social media is a paid subscription model and that is when we'll see a big divide in society. In 10 years, I think people will avoid those who use social media because how angry social media users get.
It's not social media that makes you angry, it's you. I use many and I only get great value from them. It depends on what content you watch. Blamming others for our emotions is not a good way to live. We decide.

I really like twitter, but lately I’m searching for a replacement. Threads seems like a good replacement, but I will never use it, since Meta owns it. I hope that there will be another app that will replace twitter, or that twitter will become better again.

no idea. probably that's something Threads is working on. Probably in the next weeks and months they'll be testing stuff, blowing stuff up, and fixing it and getting all the kinks worked out trying to make it accessible to a wider audience. with one of those things being making it accessible for those that don't have an Instagram and maybe making the site more user friendly so you don't have to destroy your instagram account to get rid of your Threads account.

It’s all one instance, and owned by Meta, right? My understanding is that they’re technically able to be federated with other things like Mastodon, but almost every Masto instance has already blocked Threads.

The appeal for it is because while other Facebook clone apps failed, this can actually succeed because people actually have a desire to find something new, while in the past there was no reason to want to leave for Facebooks clone.

@@Regene4239 I'm skeptical on this one. They were very loud about the decentralized aspect of the platform but now I don't hear nearly anything about that feature. It means nothing in the end if Meta is still going to censor and collect private data. I'll pass.
@@jonyD143 it is on the mastodon server stuff which is decentralised in a sense, that is what meta was maketing it as. Though moderation power and all that jazz still belongs to the meta team

The appeal for it is because while other Facebook clone apps failed, this can actually succeed because people actually have a desire to find something new, while in the past there was no reason to want to leave for Facebooks clone.
Zuckerberg and his team have definitely created a strong force and the social media realm.. like what Facebook did to my space.. Threads will do to Twitter.. celebrities and companies don’t have to start from the ground up building following base
right now Threads will be great for those who use Instagram . But it completely alienates those who don’t use Instagram.
