You're the most organized teacher on UA-cam....Direct and very talented......You gain respect from others with your mannerisms besides your guitar talent. Good job!!!
You have become one of my favorite guitar instruction channels because you have a real gift for transmitting the information very efficiently. Keep up the great work! Cheers from Louisiana! 🤘🎸
This is such a great video. I've been around guitars for years and never learnt to play properly because I'm lazy and have no structure/discipline. I've picked it up again recently, this is just fantastic advice.
Thanks for the tips! I've heard and ignored advice to use a timer, but after endlessly losing my focus I will try this. And learn the fretboard. (And finally, if you found any John Cale, or Wire, or Nick Cave, or Tom Waits that lent themselves well to a lesson, they would be great additions. Not all suitable for solo guitar, but some of their stuff might be.) Love your weekly videos. Thank you!
Just found your channel and really enjoying your videos! Thanks! Very useful topic! So easy to get side tracked with the 1000's of different UA-cam videos and side tracked from your goals. Again, really appreciate your channel! Thanks. Like the decor too! Great idea to make your practice room feel comfortable and motivating.
At last! A UA-cam guitar tutor that understands that life often gets in the way and unfortunately we mere mortals haven't enough time in a day to work, eat and sleep let alone find time to throw 12 hours a day to practice! Great videos, thank you!
Thanks Adrian some great advice , hopefully get me out my rut at the moment , love how you said guitar journey then bagged it lol, some Wire would be great cheers
another great video. The information you relay generally has great content and is in my opinion better than most, at least for my purposes of learning. Thanks very much.
Adrian, that was a really great video containing a wealth of good advice and tips. Very helpful and very relevant. Also real, very honest and down to earth. So good of you to make this video for us. If we all followed your tips, we would all improve markedly! BTW No need to apologise for the use of the “objet” - that’s a cool word. And “guitar journey” is not a horrible phrase. You are a great guy. Long may you prosper. :-) Cheers, Ray (Australia)
Great ideas. I was wondering how those Stevie Ray Vaughn licks were supposed to fit into my Joy Division tribute band. If I get a cactus it will become clear, right?
I can recommend using Google forms to track your practice. I have a checklist on a web page where I can tick off my individual practice units, and then I just submit the form and have a record of each day's practice.
We need an emergency Lock-Down beginners course (it's May 2020 & covid 19(remember that?)) One of your beginners practise plans and a month by month starter course (we could be under house arrest for rest 2020 ). You're a true diamond.
I went a different route learning the fretboard. For instance I can quickly find the flat 5 in any scale all over the fretboard however, I would then need to do some mental math to tell you what the note name was. It makes it easier to improvise over the changes but, -- harder if not impossible to play printed music! I guess it comes from spending much time learning the CAGED system rather than scale patterns. I see chords all over the fretboard more than the notes and scale patterns. . Gonna go buy a cactus now! . .
Hi, Adrian on UA-cam I think lacks a proper lesson for Paranoid Android, or a in-deep view of Jonny Greenwood's guitar style, and I think no one could do that better than you! Btw I:d like to thank you because of all the the guitar teachers on YB very few shares your passion, your talent and your taste. Cheers
Any chance of trying Criminals by The Tallest Man On Earth? That tone he gets as well as the finger picking is incredible. Thanks for all the songs so far. Best channel on youtube by some distance!
Do you think it's ok to try learn songs that require lots or techniques etc, rather than just practising them separately? I try learn a song with a solo, then try break down what scale they are using etc.
I’ve tried practising drills from books etc,but I found it very boring. In all fairness for me,my best practice routine is to just learn a song that involves all the things I need to learn,ie barre chords, bends, string skipping etc.

You are a great 👍🎸😀 teacher

Never fails to make me chuckle. The wit and the wisdom in one UA-cam package.
The first part of my guitar journey, is to get a cactus!! That should improve my playing immensely.
This is such a great video. I've been around guitars for years and never learnt to play properly because I'm lazy and have no structure/discipline. I've picked it up again recently, this is just fantastic advice.
Sage advice Adrian. Really enjoy what you do.
My first electric guitar was a 1964 Mustang - bought it used in 1975 - cost $175 - wish I never sold it!

Great stuff! Thank you for the advice.
I am really digging this advice. Now I need to narrow down a couple of those and practice.

Happy New Year Adrian. Looking forward to this years lessons! 2019
In my honest opinion as stated many times previously even when you had 1k subs you were easily the best teacher on youtube.
Happy new year.

Great advice. I’m going to set up my spare bedroom as a permanent practice area.....and get a cactus.

Thank you... excellent advice...:):)
New Year, more Smiths songs please? Your tutorials on Headmaster Ritual and Back to the Old house were amazing
This Charming Man was awesome as well!
I already have a cactus, so I guess I'm set! 2019 is looking up..
Thanks guru👍

I guess cactus sales have increased rapidly in these last days....
By the end of 2019, with all the playing i do, I'll be a legend in my own mind! :-)
Bought a fender Strat to start 2019 ... guitar # 3
Good, very good indeed 😀😄

Learning the fretboard may seem a bit over whelming but really isnt as tuff as it may seem, if a person works on it as a regular thing.
You do realise you’ve now moved into the heavy realm of “influencer”, I definitely NEED a cactus 🌵 😂
Could you do some more smiths videos? Preferably some girls are bigger than others
Can you do a tutorial on sketch for summer - durutti column

Hi Adrian, Fantastic New Year lesson start! What specific bridge make & P/N did you use on your Jazzmaster? Wildwood Flower in 2019? Thx!!!!
2019: "All the Answers!"
Do you think it's ok to try learn songs that require lots or techniques etc, rather than just practising them separately?
I try learn a song with a solo, then try break down what scale they are using etc.
I knew somebody had all the answers, I guess it's has been Adrian all this time. :)
Gave you a sodding thumbs up. I don't know why. Probably something subliminal. Had to look up the word sodding.
I’ve tried practising drills from books etc,but I found it very boring.

I'm going to buy me a cactus.
And I'm going to buy a yellow submarine
