Castlevania: Dracula X (1995), released in Japan as Akumajō Dracula XX, is actually a toned-down remake of a PC Engine title known as Rondo of Blood ( tasvideos.org/... ) (1993). It stars Richter Belmont, supposedly a son of Juste Belmont from Harmony of Dissonance ( tasvideos.org/... ), on a mission to save Annette (said to be his girlfriend) and Maria Renard (a young vampire huntress said to be his girlfriend's sister), along with a number of their fellow villagers, from imprisonment by Dracula (said to be the villain) and his minions.
Unfortunately, in this SNES port Richter isn't too much of a fast walker - unlike his father and the later Belmont clan descendants - so his fastest way of moving is constant backflipping (so don't be surprised by the author's choice of traveling method).
This movie is a 00:11.48 second improvement to the previous version ( tasvideos.org/... ) by pirate_sephiroth ( tasvideos.org/... ).

Annette : "The count grows more powerful by the minute"
Richter : "By the minute ? Yeah, only about four more till he dies !" *_Backflips away to victory_*
Steve crawling backwards.... now i see
Richter B. Belmont
The B. stands for Backflip
Before men had cars they had backflips
hahaha hahaha hahaha, yeah
This is one of the best comments I've seen
Richter sure was excited to see her.
I never noticed this before but on the clock face during the fight with Death, the Roman numeral reads IIII instead of IV, but 9 isn't written as VIIII but instead IX. Strange.
i remember hearing that classic swiss watches have IIII instead of IV by an error of the makers but then all of them were made the same way for tradition only, like an old meme xd
I was told that it was tradition, as there once was a king who would get confused with "IV", so they left it as "IIII", but that was only for clocks.
La marometa de los 3 sprites
09:06 I don't know why, that jump cracks me up. Just imagine that from Annette's perspective x)
Damage boost is the biggest bitch slap on the developers for making you do that huge jump after getting hit.
Video Games...the only medium where constant back flipping and jumping while swinging a whip is better then normal movement.
Just my timestamps of personal magical moments:
4:14 8:39 11:01 11:14 13:54
Thanks for the 60fps uploads in general
Monsters: *Kidnaps some random women to become Dracula's new bride* Lol, no one will miss them.
Richter, realizing His girlfriend is missing: *Pops Shoulders* I'll be back in Twenty Minutes.
Didn't use invincibility, tool assisted chad
To whip it, whip it good!
Es genial qué unos pocos frames hagan la diferencia para hacer este TAS tan fluido!
Among all the music vampire killer is my favorite.
Mine too! It’s a classic, right along with “Castle Gate” from the original!
My favorites:
(CV1) Prologue, Vampire Killer, Poison Mind, Stage Clear, Out of Time, Nothing to Lose, Black Knight, All Clear, Voyager, Player Miss, Game Over
(CV2) Game Over, Bloody Tears
(Castlevania Chronicles) All Clear
(Haunted Castle) Ranking, Ending
I can't name a best version off the top of my head, but this one is up there. More than Rondo of Blood despite CD quality vs SNES quality.
But I don’t like Dracula X’s version of Vampire Killer. It sounds off to me.
Richter should be a next Michael Jackson cosplayer
1 minute and i'm confused and scared
castlevania : tales of the backflip man
Dem flips.
7:12 Feat princess peach
I like how Richter just kind of stomps off after that. You can practically hear him saying: "This is a buncha bullshit, right here..."
It's no cheat, it's TAS.
I didn't even know that you could backflip in this game
why is Maria missing at 7:15?
Probably an emulator glitch, I would say. (^_^)
So stupid question here, can someone explain why I am not seeing any of the movement tech featured in SOTN, dispite Ricter being playable and showcasing the ending of this game in that one? No Running, No "whip spin dash", no "Blade Uppercut" or "slide dash kick" Is this really the Castlevania X featured before SOTN?
That's simply because this is a classic Castlevania game, and as such the developers probably did not even think about giving Richter those fancy jumps and charges since it would make him super OP in this game. If Simon in SC4 is already kinda broken because of multidireccional whipping, imagine Richter with his SOTN techs in Rondo/Dracula X.
The reason why he was given those moves in SOTN (and later on in Portrait of Ruin) is because he simply needed them. The blade uppercut and blade charge are needed to get across parts that Alucard would normally get past with the bat transformation or the super jump. The slide was also needed to pass through small gaps, and also makes for a considerably faster movement than running, which is already tremendously fast compared to Alucard's walking speed, hell, it's almost on the same speed as backdashing AND shield cancelling.
@@theraymunator The classic moveset isn't too much of an issue in RoB (especially with Maria actually being playable). In this game? His SOTN moveset (especially with automatic running) would actually make this game at least somewhat fair.
@@sonicboy678 Richter's controls are less stiff in the RoB version too. Play RoB then immediately play the SNES version and you'll see what I mean.
@@mresturk9336 I played both versions and Dracula X Chronicles a few times over (I like replays). Between RoB and SNES, the difference is there but I can't say which way is better for me. DxC feels even more distinct, but frankly Classicvanias don't differ too much besides SCIV.
I don't think you understand the concept of a tool assisted speed run.
Holy Macaroni!!!
I didnt know you could backflip!
He even Moonwalks better than Simon ;)

Que mierda es esto xddd
Esta bien como juega pero el problema no es su habilidad como gamer sino que el juego en si es una mierda, es mejor rondo of blood.
Si, es una mala adaptación del juego de Turbograpx cd
they cheated, no one is this good
