I love the immediate results when you power wash the concrete! Take action folks...make a difference every day. Even if it's a small baby step, it progress! I injured my spine and was told I'd be a paraplegic within the year and here it's been over 15 years and I'm still walking! I did it by taking moment by moment and step by step. Nice to see progress. Steps are painted, mowing is done, a lot of your Prior renewal work is still visible. Now, I am noting a pattern that occurred before. It is getting later, you are still working to do a first class job...and you are now muddy. Things are trimmed, mowed, edged and the power washing is progressing from area to area. If I was going to say "Take Action", it might be similar to what you discussed, show a video and say, "If you'd like to see your place improve step by step, call/text..........." Starting is the hard part!
For a service, I would suggest you do your first one or two for FREE.
Make a deal with your customer that you will not charge you for the service, but if something happens, you have the right to not continue. Let them know you are looking at doing a business and want to see what it is like.
I did video/DVD for free for years. I enjoyed all aspects, including when I did not have to do it. I found out this was fun for me, but I would rather make a living in IT.
The next step is to find a mentor. Offer to take them out to lunch, and you pay for the meal in exchange for advice. I promise you, you will get your money's worth.
Finally, figure out how to be productive when you can't do your service. In lawn care, you cannot cut the grass when it rains, but you can plant flowers! Flowers cost about 25c a piece when you do them yourself. Planting a dozen at $5 when it rains will pay for labor.
My cousin decided to start an Etsy shop when she got swine flu many many years ago. She's persevered, built her business into a full time job, and now she's signing a lease in a retail space. It can be done!

Excellent video! I like hearing from you rather than the pre-recorded sermons. You TAKE ACTION! I took action almost twenty years ago when my children grew into adults and left home. Went to college and became a Wildlife Biologist after a lifetime of big game hunting and outdoors pursuits. Very fulfilled where I am today; never looked back. I have been thinking about starting a home business in my retirement years, and some people might think I'm crazy to do this at age 72. But I have a talent, an artistic one and I feel I would be very good at this business that I'm thinking of and I just have to now take action and figure a way to get the funds necessary to get the one or two pieces of equipment that I have to have to do this business. So listening to you has given me the push that I need to get off my behind and to take action! I'm not at all certain how I'm going to come up with the money, which is around 10 grand but I have faith that God is going to see me through this and help me to get this business going. So now it's up to me to do what's necessary to secure the funds to get me going! Thank you Kevin for the push that I needed! If I was younger and not disabled my call to action would be power washing like you do so amazingly!! When I was a little girl in the ‘70’s I would get my aunt’s hose out and would spray her sidewalk off. She would always tell me that the sidewalk wouldn’t grow!! LOL That didn’t stop me!!!

Hey Kevin, been watching both channels for about a year now....yeah, I'm that crazy 🤣. A long time ago I was listening to an employer supplied CD (told you it was a while ago) and the main topic was procrastination and one of the things that was discussed was picking up and putting down something without ever finishing the task. It can be as simple as picking up a book and putting it away or a mental task that you say you'll do in 5 minutes, which turns into 5 days or weeks. The mental mindset is to plug it into your brain to pick up the item ONCE and complete the task. Some complex tasks take more than one session, but if you constantly remind yourself to only pick up the "item" once you'll find that the tendency toward procrastination is much less. This also applies directly toward your "theme" here. Don't procrastinate, TAKE ACTION... NOW. Well done my friend. Always looking for nuggets in your discourses. Merry Christmas 🎄.

Kevin, I can't thank you enough for your videos. I have been putting off my own "Call to Action" in starting my own business. I am a professional AutoCAD draftsman and designer and I have a great job with a great company but I have always wanted to start my own company so I can help other Engineers, Contractors or Architects with my skills. I feel like now is the time that I move forward and start building a clientele base. I already have the equipment needed I am just not sure how to start my own business. I have said it before, the ice that you give is worth its weight and gold. I'm not in the lawn care or yard work business. I own a tax and business services company. I give advice to medium sized corporations on what to do and how to do it. I see absolutely no problem and nothing wrong with the advice that you are giving on here. "Take Action" is a good idea in so many things. Watching videos doesn't get anything done, though they can be motivational, like yours, Kevin. Another good idea is to "Accept Help" (and learn to ask for it). I worked as an independent telecom contractor for a decade, which was the best and highly lucrative time of my various careers. It started by another contraactor asking if I could help pick up some clients from her because she was getting too busy. I have major financial anxiety, too (which you mentioned), so I got an accountant to do it for me. Cost so little for my sanity and peace of mind. Take action and accept/ask for help!!

Most cities will have a "Small Business Association - SBA" organization that will offer free advice and mentors to help you avoid missteps and teach business basics. The Only reason I started my first business was because I found a mentor through the SBA. Whatever it is you want to do, you can usually find a retired owner of the same type of business to guide you.
I always loved mowing the lawn. I especially loved the immediate gratification. Unfortunately I now have horrible arthritis in my hips and I haven't been able to mow the lawn in years. I always loved making designs with the lawnmower lines. Thanks for what you do. You truly are helping people who can't clean up their own yard.

I heard a lot of the same advice when I thought I'd start a direct marketing biz. Needless to say, I only prepared to/dabbled in work (for 7 yrs) but never worked. No 'call to action' took precedence over my fears & inhibitions. Now, I use that phrase to get other things done....more like self-imposed deadlines. Thanks for your teachings🙂

It can seem almost impossible and the thought can cause a lot of lost time through procrastination. I have found that once you get started you soon find that though it may take a bit longer than you imagined it is usually an awful lot easier than you expected, and the feeling of satisfaction that follows also raises your spirits and lasts a good while too.
