    Small suggestion I find helps sell the realism a little more when I have used this style of effect before, scale the particle layer down a little bit. If the particles are meant to only be visable in the light they should be proportional to that distance from the camera, whereas they currently appear a little large for realism. As you are masking that layer anyway you don't need to worry about seeing the edges of the particle layer by reducing scale so I'd bring it down to approx 70%.
    But great simple and effective effect, and well illustrated 🙂

    umm so in this case, are the masks not gonna mask out anything until you turn the clip into a nest? I'm a beginner to PR, not really sure how it works.

    • @juaniferritto165
      @juaniferritto165 2 роки тому +1

      The mask works without nesting the sequence, but if you blur that clip the rest of the background will bleed into the footage, ruining the "light" efect. By nesting it you practically delete the rest of the video, leaving only the windows to blur

  • @PraxisVisuals
    @PraxisVisuals 2 роки тому +9

    From artist to artist, this is teaching the wrong result. While the technique being used is questionable and there is a slightly better and more efficient way of doing things, the one issue I'm seeing is this: The directional blur is blurring in both directions... NOT the direction the light is being cast. Meaning, when the light hits the back of the man's head, his shadow should be cast opposite of the light. But in your result, the shadow is casting opposite the light AND towards the light; making no sense.
    Don't misunderstand, your video has high quality and good editing, but your lesson is teaching with a large inaccurate flaw.

    • @GhostStealth590
      @GhostStealth590 2 роки тому +1

      Precisely this. I've gotten much better results with fast box blurs, and it's good to isolate the highlights with curves then slap the fast blur on it. Creates a nicer lightwrap too. This is also an interesting method to achieve what I've recently done, but it's not reaching that quality.

    • @bermchasin
      @bermchasin 2 роки тому
