Ah yes. The Ronald Mcdonald animated special. I remember getting this VHS tape. My love of Chicken Mcnuggets was as insatiable as my love for animation back then.
I remember getting this movie from my dad in the 90s. He worked at McDonald's then. I loved this movie so much growing up. I'm excited to see this reviewed.
4:37 - the voice of Sundae is Dee Bradley Baker, who voices the Clone Troopers in Star Wars, Olmec in Legends of the Hidden Temple, and Appa and Momo in Avatar: The Last Airbender.
@@zachtwilightwindwaker596I've said the crow for years, I gave up Just like I keep suggesting a musical month of horror, it would be fun Sweeney Todd, repo the genetic opera, rocky horror picture show and little shop of horrors
Never thought the childhood VHS I had and watched repeatedly because I lived right next to a McDonald's would ever be reviewed in this fashion. What an absolutely delightful surprise, was a nice dose of nostalgia from one of my favorite people.
To be fair, the fantastical version of McDonald land was a direct rip-off of H.R. Puff'n'Stuff. Which they were successfully sued in court to stop. So the late 90s depictions had to be drastically different.
Fun Fact: Charlie Adler, the actor voicing the Hamburglar in the animated videos, previously voiced the Hamburglar in several MacDonald's commercials in the 1980s
He’s also done some voice acting for G.I. Joe: The Real American Hero, Tiny Toon Adventures, Eek The Cat, Aah Real Monsters, BraveStarr, Mighty Mouse, Jem, My Little Pony, Bonkers, TaleSpin, Earthworm Jim, Rocko’s Modern Life, and so many other shows throughout the 80’s and 90’s.

To be fair, you reviewed The Langoliers outside of Nostalgiaween. Also, you do realize that now you'll be expected to review the rest of the Ronald McDonald animated specials (The Legend of Grimace Island, The Visitors From Outer Space, Birthday World, Have Time Will Travel, and The Monster O'McDonaldland Loch), right

Ronald McDonald's already scary enough, so its scary to see a VHS series based off of the madness of McDonald's. Glad you're doing this Critic and just in time to close out Nostalgia Ween 2024!
7:54 - Now we know what Chuckie would have looked like if he were a mix of Gerald's younger sister of Hey Arnold, Suzy Carmichael, and light hint of Oblina, but w/ Chuckie.
Dude, it took over ten years for someone to upload the final episode of Ronald McDonald to UA-cam. It was only sold on the Klasky website so almost nobody got it, and we all wanted the final episode for so long!!
When you mentioned reviewing a clown, I thought you meant like the All Hallows' Eve movie, the one that first starred Art the Clown. Never would have guessed this.
I remember Scared Silly and a few other of these animated Ronald McDonald movies back when in the late '90s to early '00s. I was the right age at the time as a kid. I was 6 in 1998 when it came out.
Terrific Halloween treat here. Thank you for giving this classic Halloween VHS story some respect. There are obviously some better Halloween cartoons out there but this one is still very special and quite fun to revisit. I really hope you’ll review the other five videos from McDonaldland! I also would love to look into coming to see you guys at that “Day of the Dead” Chicago event since I live in the Illinois area. Somebody guessed this in yesterday's Community post. I didn't expect them to be right. I'm happy about it, though. I grew up on the first five tapes of this series. To this day, I still follow the left wall whenever I'm in a maze thanks to this episode.
@@wolfgangamadeusmozart1293 Maybe he should review that, if he's going to do for next year's Nostalgiaween. As for the Holidays part of the Nostalgia Critic in 2024, What movies do you think he's going to review?
I remember McDonald’s cartoons and there were other promotional stuff in the 1980s and 90s like music videos, McDonaldland audiobooks during Halloween season!
I really hoped NC would review Stephen King's Silver Bullet this time. I mean, a movie about a paraplegic kid on a motorcycle wheelchair confronting a werewolf who kills people with a baseball bat has to material for a good episode.
The two Stephen King movies I wanted to see him review the most are Cell (the cell phone zombie movie with John Cusack and Samuel L. Jackson) and The Dark Tower
I was in kindergarten when McDonald's was selling these tapes, and I absolutely loved them! I also remember really wanting to see a Rugrats crossover with them too, with the babies finding their way into McDonald Land and the McSquad needing to help them get back home. I didn't know much about animation studios at the time, but I could tell both projects were made by the same artists. So my imagination just ran with it! Anyways, yeah these McTapes were super silly and were designed to sell products, but they were still fun! I (along with a bunch of other people in my age-group) still have a lot of nostalgia for these shorts. The animation was great, the set designs were memorable (looking at you, cheeseburger bed!) and the characters were sweet! Glorified commercials or not, a lot of great work by talented people went into making them. Klasky Csupo's art will always be cool in my book!
12:46 Her voice may not be melodic, but I think it's amazing for the song! It's supposed to be a creepy song, so things should feel just a little off, and having the instrumentals be the only melody while hearing her really fits together nicely! It also weirdly sounds more harmonic with the instrumentals than most of the other characters, so at least for me, hers are the best parts of the song! It reminds me of that muted radio effect that they use like in the Gorillaz song Clint Eastwood or in 21st Century Schizoid Man by King Crimson. I could definitely see it as a style choice!
7:30 - Reminds me of cartoons made for Dr. Seuss books. Was Mc Kids ever a movie or just a game? Should Mc Kids have been a movie? Should Mc Kids have been the movie from McDonalds instead of Mac and Me? Did White Castle make H & K got to WC? Have other eateries shown prevalentlh to the level within other random films? Aside from movies about the founding, creation, building, development, etc? DQ? Wendy's? KFC? Bell? Hut? Ihop? Arby's? Panera? Hardee's? TCBY?
I've never seen this before in my life - it looks bizarre! Why does the "live-action" section look blurred? The only Scared Silly things I remember are the two commercials with slight dialogue changes. This oozes the 2000s more than a Big Mac oozes grease. The freaky Happy Meal with teeth would fit in just fine here!
The clown can literally change a rain cloud into the sun, had bent metal as a toddler and is married to the Starbucks Siren. He had to know SOMETHING about mythology!
Sadly, Jack Doepe (hopefully spelling the name right) would only do this and the next two specials. Then, he retired from the role and David Hussey would take over the live-action/animation voice starting with BIRTHDAY WORLD. Heck, you could tell these videos were going downhill when the last episode didn't even get released (only briefly on the McD's website before leaving the web). It was lost until rediscovered and released to Reddit and YT.
Since there's no Stephen King review this year, next year, I suggest you pull double duty to make it up to us. And I can think of the perfect ones for you to look at: Cell, the one with John Cusack and Samuel L. Jackson about cell phone zombies (yes, really), and of course, the one Stephen King review I would like the most to see you do, The Dark Tower. Do not let me down... Aside from that, here are some other suggestions for next year's Nostalgiaween: • The Jack Black Goosebumps movies • Rob Zombie's Halloween II • Scary Movie • Resident Evil
I used to watch this tape all the time as a little kid, loved it a lot. Was actually just thinking of it the other day, so this was a fun review to see in my feed
I grew up watching this VHS a lot when I was a kid so thank you for giving me your honest thoughts to end this year's Nostalgiaween and I wish you and your friends and family happy Halloween 🎃👻❤

I remember McDonald’s cartoons and there were other promotional stuff in the 1980s and 90s like music videos, McDonaldland audiobooks during Halloween season!
7:02 Uh... Birdie looked like the woman from P.T. for a minute there.
I really hoped NC would review Stephen King's Silver Bullet this time. I mean, a movie about a paraplegic kid on a motorcycle wheelchair confronting a werewolf who kills people with a baseball bat has to material for a good episode.
That would be… intriguing
The two Stephen King movies I wanted to see him review the most are Cell (the cell phone zombie movie with John Cusack and Samuel L. Jackson) and The Dark Tower
Cell and Dark Tower were both terrible tho. Didn’t see Dark Tower but I watched Cell and it was funny and hilarious.
This is the only episode of the show that I vividly remember but only specifically because of the Mirror Maze song
Here it is. If you saw his post on Facebook, you knew this one was coming.
DQ? Wendy's? KFC? Bell? Hut? Ihop?
Arby's? Panera? Hardee's? TCBY?
The extra hilarious part of Steven King’s laundry list is he actually did that with the Mangler
I'm just depressed he didn't just do that movie
Weird how now he decides to do the McDonald's special
No Steven King Time? I'm sad...

Everyone is so upset when they can't even spell his name.
Me too
I've never seen this before in my life - it looks bizarre! Why does the "live-action" section look blurred? The only Scared Silly things I remember are the two commercials with slight dialogue changes. This oozes the 2000s more than a Big Mac oozes grease. The freaky Happy Meal with teeth would fit in just fine here!
Thanks Ronald McDonald for telling me years ago the answer to a riddle I heard repeated in God Of War: Ragnarok.
The clown can literally change a rain cloud into the sun, had bent metal as a toddler and is married to the Starbucks Siren. He had to know SOMETHING about mythology!
Who else is quietly wishing Doug Does Grimace Island?
This was my childhood…well damn, no wonder I turned out the way I did. 😂
My grandma got all of these for us when we were kids. She has been gone for almost 12 years now, but this brought me back.
Aside from that, here are some other suggestions for next year's Nostalgiaween:
• The Jack Black Goosebumps movies
• Rob Zombie's Halloween II
• Scary Movie
• Resident Evil
You can talk about Mayor McCheese being scary, but that mutant looking dog was made to freak everyone out.
*Sees nostalgic niche cartoon from my childhood*
"WHO HAS SUMMONED ME!?"
I remember this cause when I was in elementary school for Halloween. My teacher put this the VHS taped on while we were doing activities.
