Late reply, but Bossa Combo was a lot more than an also-ran band. They were President Jean-Claude Duvalier's pride and joy, and their level of polish and presentation reflected it. I was there during that era. So I know what I'm talking about. Les Difficiles, Gypsies, and Tabou Combo were new generation bands that appealed to middle and upper class teenagers. They were called mini jazz, because they didn't incorporate any brass or keyboards in their music like the more mature bands, such as Shleu-Shleu, Les Ambassadeurs, Bossa Combo, Les Loups Noirs, and Les Frères Déjean, to name a few. The aforementioned mini-jazz bands changed their formats around 1976. When bands from the Antilles were kicking ass with their heavy sounds, replete with horns and keyboards. They were Exile One, Les Grammacks, Les Aiglons, Super Combo, and so forth. Thats how Les Difficiles and Les Gypsies matured by morphing into DP Express, and Scorpio which were full-on heavy sounding bands. During that era, Tabou Combo also made the transformation albeit without a name change.
