I found this song in my of the hymnals at my church. It has a different verse in it. It has the first and third here followed by this different verse. It goes: And when from death I'm free, I'll sing on, I'll sing on And when from death I'm free, I'll sing on And when from death I'm free, I'll sing and joyful be And to eternity, I'll sing on, I'll sing And to eternity, I'll sing on. It is just lovely. The orchestra did a phenomenal job, and the choir sang like angels.
First of all, I was astonished to know about the Anabaptist orchestra and chorus. They are of the highest quality of musicianship, in my humble opinion. I am a fan of great Christian choral music and thank you for putting this up.
Hi Martha, thanks for your comment. This is a group I along with a few others helped start in 2014. You can find out more on the website at lyricasacra.com
You did it again, brought me to tears again! I love the arrangement, instrumentation, and harmonization. Wow, and Picardy third ending. We don’t have to be ashamed of this God you are playing and singing about. God demonstrates his own love towards us in that while we were sinners, Christ died for us.
Thank you for that note, Monique. It reminded me of Ephesians 3:20 Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, 21 Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen. What an incredibly beautiful and wonderful truth!
Happy Easter to all my brothers and sisters in Christ may the peace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all and forever more who sits at the right hand of the father God almighty amen ❤️

What religion is this setting ??
Anabaptist
Wow, that made me cry. So beautiful. Beyond our comprehension.
This is one of my favorite hymns. Coincidentally a trio of men, tenor, baritone and bass sang this at my Episcopal church last Sunday. Gorgeous! 🎶
You did it again, brought me to tears again!
I love the arrangement, instrumentation, and harmonization. Wow, and Picardy third ending.
We don’t have to be ashamed of this God you are playing and singing about. God demonstrates his own love towards us in that while we were sinners, Christ died for us.
This song came to my memory this morning as I communed with God and this is as close to heaven as I can get! Thank you!
Wonderful! May we all walk closely with God and commune with Him often. 🙏🏻

Which Mennonite community is this, and where???I would love to visit their fellowship!-Pamela Rae Schuffert
Hi Pamela. The folks here are mostly from the Lancaster County, PA area. For more information about the group, see their website at lyricasacra.com
Where was this at?
This was at Highland Presbyterian Church in Lancaster, PA.
The final verse that defines this song and its Christian faith is completely missing in action.
Please post it here!
Where is this verse?

Looks like this setting doesn’t include that verse, but thanks for pointing it out.
This song
Thanks for your comment, what about it, specifically? ❤️

You can thank Christianity for music.
Interesting thought, although I would say that there was a viable expression of God-glorifying music before Christianity was a thing.
