Thank god! A gun tutorial where you can actually see what's going on. The presenter doesn't talk a bunch of preliminary stuff, gets right to it. Perfect pacing. In-depth enough for most purposes. You rock Mr. Ortega.
Just want to give you some thanks for making this video! I wish you had put 12 gauge in the title as I probably wasted 5 hours watching other videos to see how this guy comes apart. 175 bucks for a new 12 gauge seemed to good to be true but it did work for me! Thanks again!
Thanks for an excellent video. With my guns disassembled all over the living room. It was everything I needed and nothing I didn’t. I have to say that you’re too modest, though. Have you seen the manual that comes with the gun? THAT’S something to be embarrassed of. Nobody cares how you pronounce ambidextrous. 1.You didn’t have a never ending intro. “What’s up people! First I’m going to tell you about, what I’m going to tell you about.” 2.You weren’t drowned out by wind or irritating background music. 3.You didn’t mumble or leave out the most important part. This video is better than 90% of the videos out there. More Hatfield videos please!
I just finished cleaning my 12 gauge assembly was a snap thanks to your video I didn't know what that little button on the bottom was for until I saw your demonstration this is my first semi-auto thank you
Very informative vid thanks I watched this over a year ago, and then again today. I have to mention the only problems I’ve had with the gun is that when I shot winchester universal 2 3/4 8 shot it ruined my barrel, (sent it to Hatfield they replaced free of charge shipping and all) And the the bolt carrier with the pivoting arm that runs to the spring in the butt of the stock the tension pin broke and the arm and bolt carrier came apart easy fix i just got another tension pin and fixed it. Anyway thanks for the informative vid just though I would mention that.
I have a 12 gauge sas..does your model have a spring which is same size as tube,,walmart didnt put my gun back together correctly after i bought a store model..cant find anywhere this spring is supposed to go
Charlie Smith Don’t have mine anymore to look They are good shotguns Need cleaning and lube every so often and I realize now I probably underlubed the gas ring thing I heard it should be lubed with a thick motor oil I heard from a gunsmith in regards to my browning A5 With similar gas system
Thanks for the video! I just bought the 12g recently and have been looking for a good video for assembly/disassembly. This video will help me learn to clean as well.
Excellent! Thank you for this informative video. I have the 12 Guage. As someone else said the 12 Guage has an extra retaining ring. I appreciate your video it helps a lot.
Mine is the 12 GA but like yours, it likes Federal ammo the best. For the longest time, it struggled to eject certain rounds and I finally discovered with Federal and high brass it worked every time.
your magazine tube looks longer than my 4 shell tube. I have an extra part as well. Before putting the foregrip back on, I have to screw on a nut over the magazine tube, then put on the wooden grip and the end cap. How many shots is in that one?
I have the 28 gauge version. It barely cycled when I first got it. Front of the cartridge jammed against the face of the barrel. Occasionally it wouldn't fire at all. After that the bolt seized about mid way through the receiver. I chocked the gun off as absolute trash. So to fix the not firing problem I replaced the hammer spring with one out of a sig 229 (22 lb). Weird I know, but it does fit and throws the hammer with much more authority. To fix the feeding problem I dremeled the face of the chamber to a gentle taper on the most common edge where it would jam against. If you do this be sure to only remove the absolute minimum. Removing an excessive amount will leave unsupported chamber edge or worse ruin headspace and cause out of battery detonation. Not an amateurs fix by any means. Lastly the seizing, which is cause by the cheap roll pin which holds the "tail" of the bolt to the lower section of the bolt. This roll pin smashed itself under recoil and walked out to one side grinding against the aluminum receiver leaving a huge scar. This I removed and replaced with a solid steel pin that I hammered on both sides to form a rivet. A lot of work just to use a 200 dollar shotgun.
I have a sas 12 gauge that im trying to get reassembled after walmart took it almost completely apart..my model came with a large spring which is same size as sleeve...none of the videos i have seen show this spring or where it goes,,neither does the diagram that came with gun.do you have any idea or where i could find a actual diagram..calling hatfield is a joke,,
dann hienn to be honest I've never really looked into it. I wouldn't ever need it because I use it for dove and you are only allowed 2+1 in your shotgun at a time
for me it was a very bad experience, I also bought it SAS 12 in walmart for the price, but was disappointed by the malfunction, contact the customer service and explain, I sent the gun and after a month they sent it back, but it continued with the same problems .. the 3-inch cartridges do not work and almost all of the 2 and 3/4 cartridges are locked. They say in the company that we should only use Winchester AA for its best performance .. I do not understand ??
If anyone cares you can call hatfield and get replacement gas pistons, thats what they are called by the way. Should have a light and heavy, also they should come with three chokes ic, mod, full. Just called them today, Apr. 19, 2018 and the gas pistons and replacement choke tubes are all $8 each usd. Hope this helps. Like you vid. good job.
@@robertortega8524 bro sense the first comment. I've blasted so many magnums I had to change my plunger an spring out. Thanks to this video I've successfully repaired my firearm. You helped in more ways than one.
I am going to have to disagree with you about function. If you purchase a shotgun it should function as such. I have had to send the trigger assembly back because of broken parts. It jams four or five time with every box of shells and the magazine came comes lose in about ten rounds. A shotgun from any maker should not have these problems. I had to insist that the importer fix the trigger group and finally sent it back on my own dime. Poor shotgun, worse customer service.
Sorry to hear that, sounds like a bad apple. I’ve had less than 5 jams since I found out it takes federal shells the best (although, I only use it for dove season). You know the old saying you get what you pay for!

I wonder if the spring that hold it in the tube was stretched or damaged when getting put back together?
Thanks. The video helped a lot.

Jacob Ackley sorry for your struggles man. Sometimes you just get something that’s just plainly no good.
What’s that pin called that holds the trigger group in ?
If the first part of your serial number ends with 17 or 18 you only get one ring with the gun for both light loads and heavy loads
Thanks for the video!! How loose is your charging handle? Mine has a lot of play in it , just curious.

Call Hatfield with the serial number. Mine came with only one piston as well, and due to a design improvement, a heavy piston is no longer required.
