Hurricane Isaac had messed up our house and we were displaced into a rental. The person before us never cut off the cable and they had the most extensive package. Including Logo.
I watched as it aired and fell in love. Then Ongina lost and I got so mad I swore the show off for years. 😂
Omggggg . I was there that night when Nina was at the Ritz . Hearing Bob describe it was so crazy . It was packed and you could barely get thru to see Nina . I also moved to NY right before drag race started to go to dance school . And I’ve been watching since season 1 ep 1 . Bob just brought back crazy nostalgia for me
I watched Season1 for the first time this year too! I've been re-watching the whole show actually and am currently on Season 9. I'm the sassiest I've ever been in my life and can't stop with the Drag Race references haha
it's very different watching it now vs. when they all originally aired. I find myself reacting to queens and bickering so differently then I did back then. Old beloveds are not all still beloved this time around

@@miraza. I loooooooved Acid Betty! Now, I admired her drag, but her personality just didn't do it for me anymore. The bullying in seasons like 2-5 were absolutely brutal. I was smitten with Raja and have adored her so much over all the years, but I didn't remember her being such a bully. I remembered Jinxy being picked on, but goddamn.

I rewatched S1 and S2 recently (because they are free on Pluto TV), after last watching them live. I agree that S1 is one of the best seasons. Nina and Ongina were my faves in S1!

The time between the Red Hot album and RuPaul’s Drag Race is when Ru was perpetrating out in the clubs and hanging out in LA. I used to watch her website back then and I recall there being talk of a show on the site and also she did a poll on what cover she should do. It ended up being People Are People by Depeche Mode but Freakazoid was also on that list and I voted for that. Rupaul would also perform in some of the shows at 7969 aka Peanuts with girls like Raja. I remember reading about her performing No Panties by Trina in a pussycat wig. I could have read that on her website. ❤
